Or he's doing the black swan..... What's happening to us? Why are reading so much into everything Trollzuru does?
-
Thanks! So he's a Jerry's skates goods boy? And yes, you can combine mutliple colors. I have a yellow and navy Rockerz combo, and I know someone who has 3 colors chained together for his guards.

Well I was thinking rose in mouth, tango, a wine red outfit, blowing kisses left and right, and probably giving the rose to a lucky audience member... (will that audience member come out alive?)

A Tango EX with a rose in his mouth....

Reminds me of this. His smile is very relaxing, like a goldie. If he were a dog, which breed would he be? Under Chinese Astrology, he is born in the year of the dog. Source: Pininterest

...Okay, but he's at least looking for another potential ice dance partner right? It won't be the first time someone from singles switches to ice dance (aka Australia), and Adian does have nice footwork and edgework. He's also pretty young, and switching to ice dance won't delay him too much age wise. If not in Russia, has he considered going overseas? Male ice skaters are a rare commodity....

Yagudin is normally so dead serious...it's...well I choked on my morning coffee when I opened up Planet Hanyu and saw this. Somehow I'm glad I never saw this so my image of Yagudin stays pure....

Curious, what brand of skate guards does he use? I'm thinking this is guarddog, but I don't recall seeing black smoke accents on guarddog brand guards.

Actually in China, it's believed that you need to wear red somewhere on you the year of your birth animal to avoid misfortune. And next year is his lunar year (he's a dog under lunar zodiac, and next year, right around the men's free, is the flip to year of the dog). Though you usually don't need to wear red so early, and it won't need to be all red- red socks, bracelets, and those skate guards are probably enough.

....I'm going to just toss the Chopin opening pose, with closed eyes, and the head rolling into the mix....

I'm not surprised by Shae choreographing for other skaters, or even Nathan. I would not be surprised by him executing the SP well artistically, as he's very strong in the SP portion. I would also not be surprised by Nathan winning the SP portion of all competitions he enters into-the highest BV program usually does that for SPs anyways. However, I am a bit skeptical of whether Lori Nichol would mesh with him. I would also be skeptical of his ability to execute LP artistically given his jumping layout. Choreographers can imagine the best program in the world, but skaters must execute them. And on the path to perfect execution, each skater has their music tendencies, stylistic tendencies, layout issues, and how they execute the entry to their jumps. Each jump's entry method preferences also shape the choreography. Yuzu is blessed with having very neat, concise, and quick entries for his jumps, he doesn't need much setup. And that is also a strength he has over other guys- he can adapt to execute a choreography, a choreographer's dream. Not the case for a lot of other skaters.

I've also got tears in my eyes from watching this... His jumping technique is just...awe-inspiring. Recently at my rink I've been trying to help a rinkmate fix his arms when he rotates in the air. I kept on telling him that he should go for an arm position/height similar to Yuzu's since that's more conducive to keeping his alignment in air correct. And he kept on telling me that it just does not feel natural. Then when I watch other male skaters, it occurs that what Yuzu can do with his arms when jumping, might not be natural at all. People probably just focus on pulling in tight, but not necessarily in the manner he does it with the elbows and arms held correctly (Yuzu's is fairly textbook). So natural jumper that he is, his technique might not really be "natural." He's really going for those GOEs, and that rippon is just beautiful. As for his 4Lz statements, the way I'm reading it is that he'll want to confirm that he can go 5 quad layout first (which he hasn't before),and when that is truly stable, he's bringing in the big guns. That says nothing about the consistency of his 4 lz, but I have some faith that it's at the 70%-90% mark (though he probalby can't twizzle or hydroblade into it yet). It's quite sensible really, and since he gets Seimei and Chopin he can concentrate just on his layout. And with the way he practices, he has so many options (4Lo3T, 4 Lz etc). I said it before in the layout chat, but if a male skater says he's going to do X quads in the FS, the only guys I trust right now to actually pull it off consistently are Yuzuru and Boyang, without compromising too much on the artistry. Yuzuru's not the type to make empty declarations, and well Boyang isn't the type to declare it anyways (he's a bit sneaky). As for history- well we haven't had a repeat Champ in the Olys for a very long time now. It's pretty uncommon in the men's or ladie's field. So yes, if he wins, he would make pretty spectacular history.

Brian: Look at all those reporters, we're suppose to be serious here, you know you can't say- Yuzuru: I know I know, so I decided to not say anything about my layout and fed them some Shu and Pa...ehehehe Brian: You...you troll....hah....

I think the cleanest Nathan went all season was US nationals, and I don't recall the layout anymore. Nathan is just....he is more yolo layout changes than even Yuzu, which makes the stability of his quads a bit iffy. But the boy's hips and knees and ankles....he's not looking at 2022 is he? Honestly, the only one who I trust to actually land a 6 quad FS when he says he'll try that is Boyang....and Yuzu (but he's not insane enough yet to do that, I think...).

*ogles at the pphotos* I just went and did something crazy and stupid called walk into GS...that was a fast trip...

....it kind of helps ease the pain to know that we got trolled (and may continue to be trolled) by something so adorable... (*knocks the halo off his head*)

Black top, with red embrodery and piping, plus some nice silver or gold inner lining....we're going to reach 1k pages in this thread today, right?

Yuzu is pretty extra, but that's a bit too extra, even for him...

I don't expect him to bring it out at ACI....if anything I'd expect him to wait to see Nathan's layout or results from the US skate classic (might have spelled name wrong) before he rips it open. It might also be that right now he hasn't quite pinned down the choreography and steq sequences etc that he'll use to bridge the first and second half, and that would influence how and where he places the 4lz (it might go second half for all we know).

The red version might be very interesting....red piping instead of green or purple, and a light top. Now if they could copy some of those gold sequins embroidery over too...

If he's always known that Seimei was going to be his 18 Oly war program, does that make the 15' GPF a test run?
-
...well Patrick got inspired by just watching Nathen train... My mental theater is acting like this again. At ACI, Yuzuru still plays it cool, but secretly, he's been training to up the difficulty and stability of his 4Lz, since anything less than a GOE+2.5 (he conceeded to Brian on the +3 to be nicer to himself) would leave him kuyashii desu. So silently, the 4Lz laid in waiting, until Rostelcom cup where he faced a full-on-quad Nathan. Where upon not only did Yuzuru pull out the 4Lz, he felt stable enough to yolo his layout and pull out a 4Lz2T, changing his layout on the go. With a clean program, he stunned the world with a win against a 6 quad FS Nathan. The commentators were stunned- especially the ones who decided that the season's wins would be decided by the number of quads. However, it was only the first in a string of odd victories. Shortly thereafter, Patrick Chan, another uncle skater, stunned the world by winning against a young quadster, Shoma Uno, by pulling out a clean 4F, a clean second half 4F3T combo, and a second half 4T3T and 4S. Not to be underestimated, against all doubters, Javier Fernandez next also takes a score against a quadster, with a clean 4 quad FS. The doubters were silenced, and everyone started rechecking their podium bets. The only quadster who had scored against an uncle was the elusive Boyang Jin, so under the radar, no radar detected him. In December, much to everyone's surprise, Evgeni Plushenko decides that he will come out of r****ment (again) to represent Russia against the quadsters. And egged on by his rival, Alexei Yagudin even makes an attempt. In Japan, Nobunari Oda decided that he felt inspired by Yuzuru enough (plus he was receiving private training tips) to also come out of r****ment, since he had a 4T-L-3S anyways. And so PC became the battle of the hardened Uncles against the stunned quadsters. What will be the results? We can only find out in February. (Yes, some of this is fantasy, but I would like to see Yuzu win Rostelcom against a quadster, and much more...an all uncle podium would be seriously interesting and make people re-evaluate figure skating)

...And Yuzu was in on it?

As a Chinese, the issue between China, Korea and Japan is recent history. We don't have a grudge with each other over traditional culture, even though recently there's been some debate over who can get what over UNESCO Heritage (and that's more China vs Korea). So Seimei is safe in my opinion. If there are people who hold a grudge towards him over a music choice that is japanese, it's more likely to be from fairly extreme fringe nationalists, who would dislike him because he's Japanese, not his music choice. He has plenty of fans in both Korea and China, so I think he'll be safe.

The rationale behind Chopin and Seimei goes back to point 2. That there was a grand master plan of how the jumps should have came out, however due to health issues and injuries, Yuzuru is behind the schedule of his grand master plan. In order to catch up, all other distractions must be reduced, hence it's safest to follow a good, older program if no other safe options exist. Since the other option may have been dismissed following the more lukewarm reception of H&L, we got left with Seimei and Chopin. As for his idea of skating and winning, I think it can be summed up as such: the best skater is one who has a significant strength, but nothing where he/she is significantly weaker than other skaters. In that sense, that is the complete package. And he's trying to ensure he maintains it that way.
