Well he does have the arm movements down! I only mentioned it because my brain was thinking "what if he skates to music traditionally only used by female skaters" and that was the warhorse that popped up. I did have a weird dream about a costume for him, but it seemed to fit with New World Symphony more. It was mostly black with white pipping and lace/edge work, so I guess it could fit Swan lake, but there were no feathers. I feel like I should go dust off my sketchbook and draw it out, but then what if I jinx it into being? In the same vein, it was also in GS where we discussed "what is considered asian music" and Kenji Kawai, Umebayashi and OST from The Last Samurai were mentioned. If they decide to do "character portrayals" then The Last Samurai is a possibility no? A quiet off season now that he has a forum to his own? Wishful thinking my dear...wishful thinking....

Well I kind of guessed Swan lake...since it fits with his "soar" and wings on the blade and stuff...but he did just do Notte Stellata. I'm trying to see if anyone mentioned firebird in the GS FF thread, because that was the other one that would fit.
-
I'm actually looking through that....there's been a lot of guesses. I've guessed Swan Lake, R+J (abel korzeniowski version), Tan Dun Hero, and The Little Prince soundtrack. Others have guessed, Gershwin (Rhapsody in Blue), Schubert's Serenade, Bach's Tocatta, Czardas,'Ancora' piece by Ludovico Einaudi, OST from "The Danish Girl" by Desplat, Tango de Roxanne (not sure if it was for LP or SP). Take your pick....

Good legs, stiff upper body...Riverdance?! The idea of Patrick and Celtic music...doesn't fit? We've discussed the men's for a while, should we move on to the ladies? I'm curious for your opinions on Alina Zagitova https://youtu.be/CeZPNJARhLw Sometime ago, I was browsing through either Goldenskate or FSuniverse, and someone pointed out that her back posture isn't good. So is it a problem? I also adore her jumps, they look light, and more effortless than Medvedeva's. I also looked up Cecchetti ballet. Something they said here, about Cecchetti's philosophy towards dancing echos with what Yuzu does. "Because the true art is that which conceals the effort that produced it"-that resonates. And I feel bad for the guy who had to perform during this, it looks tiring!

Well, do we want to evaluate his popstar/idol potential? And we need to solve the question, is he a tenor, baritone or bass? He's definitely got enough lung power due to skating, so with a bit of training...
-
Is his favorite color red? He likes strawberries, tomatoes and apples....maybe we can gently introduce him to red bell peppers?
-
The number of mascots that need to learn to skate at this rate....go chan, domo and kumamo, be prepared for serious competition.

I think the injuries of 15/16 and 14/15 have delayed his progress. If anything, I think he was originally intending to bring the 4Loop in 15/16, tail end to stabalize. I also think that the way his 4 lz is progressing, it seems to be faster than his 4 Loop progress. Not that surprised, because lz in general can give you more height and distance at take off. But the downside I think is that the 4 Lz might create issues with the 4 Loop take off, since the timing is different. The beneficiary might actually be the 4S- I usually practice my flips, lutzes and sals together, since stablizing the entry edge for the flip and lutz also lend themselves to the timing for the Salchow. And they do feel like they have the same pace for take off.

Disney should just sponsor Yuzu, considering how much Pooh items have been sold due to him...seriously. Pooh slavedom is not such a bad slavedom. Think about it: your master is soft, squeezable, and will not protest when you squeeze him on a bad day. Plus, think of the other guy in the Pooh slavedom *cough yuzu cough*
-
...Can you please squeeze pooh's head for me? I think a 5 T might be doable, since a Toe loop does have a bit of pre-rotation built in when you launch into the jump (it's closer to 4.5 rotations), but I draw the line at 5 Loop.
-
Think he did, but he's so thin you kind of want him to just gain a little bit, make it into muscles and just wait for his jumps to really fly.... Some part of me wishes that the Chinese federation really would allow talented skaters like Jin Boyang to train overseas on a much longer basis. Lori Nichols coached Jeffery Buttle, and is already Boyang's choreographer. I wonder what she could do if she had her hands on his skating for 6 months to a year. He's already improved so much this season, and he seems to enjoy his choreography. And of the new skaters, he has the least technical issues with his jumps. With Lori, he'd probably also fix other skating skills and alignment issues that he has. Other than Lori, what if he joins the TCC brigade? Imagine him and Yuzu having quad battles....

The other half involved Brian asking Jeff why he didn't tell him about Yuzu's extra practices, and Jeff replying that he swore to Yuzu to keep it a secret (with his right hand over his heart and a left hand placed on a Pooh bear). The other thought I had was the 4A isn't too far off. The previous video (many pages ago) someone posted, he said sometime around Sochi, he had already started a 4A, and was about 1/4 rotation short. It seems that each time he starts to practice something, usually about 2 seasons later, he is able to put it into competition. And given his 4 Loop history, he usually can stablize a technique if he concentrates on it over 1 summer (which is crazy). I actually think his 4 loop timing got delayed by 1 season due to his 14/15 and early 2016 health issues. His 4 lz seems to be going faster than his 4 loop? Actually i'm tempted to say 19/20 for the 4A, if not earlier...afterall, Jin Boyang said he wants to do an all quad program, and no way is Yuzu going to lose...

He could possibly do the second version of the black swan, sans the riding crop. Afterall, he did just perform LGC with the purple pants that hides nothing...and LGC could be considered pretty aggressive, he just needs to up it a bit more. Vertigo was "aww. my baby brother is trying to be all sexually aggressive, so cute!" While LGC was "okay, so my baby brother can be sexy without trying." Speaking of which, somehow I want to see Yuzuru do a tribute to Baryshnikov or Nijinsky.... Dance styles: Javi- tapdance and maybe Jazz? His outfit from the LP this season just made me think tapdancing, automatically. Patrick- Possibly ballet too. Though with his build being a bit more bulky than Yuzu, he could maybe go classical? He looks like a better candidate for lifting female dancers than Yuzu.

When I saw that photo, initially I wondered if it was a planned vacation for Orser. Here's how the little mini theatre went (in my brain). Sorry if this goes It was a normal day, and Brian was having a normal conversation with the student he usually monitored like a hawk-Javi. Javi: *blah blah blah* oh, and Yuzu was practicing his 4 Lz today. He tried..think 5, and managed to land 2 of them. So I'm thinking maybe I should also up my tech and start the 4 Loop. So, maybe when I get back, can you spot me? Yuzu's so focused that he hasn't been giving me input during my practices. Brian: that's gre-wait what? *Somewhere in the background, the sound of a dropped coffee mug shattering into pieces on the hardwood floors of Brian's immaculate living room echos throughout. The birds outside the window stop chirping.* Javi: Yeah. I know you said maybe I don't need to update my technical content, but I don't know...I think that 4 loop is possible... Brian: Javi...hold that thought....how many days till Kobe performance? Javi: Huh? The next day, at TCC. Brian hands over the coaching mantle to Tracy and Briand, after informing them that he will be going to Japan due to a situation that has arisen. Tracy: So it is *that.* Brian: Yes, it is due to *that.* I told him not to do *that* until he comes back, but noooo.... Tracy: Well, at least it is *that* and not *that other one.* Meanwhile in Japan, Yuzuru sneezes. Someone was saying something about him behind his back? But who would tattle? Well...if that does happen, then yes, all according to plan.

Okay, didn't he say in some show with Nobu and Shoma that he normally doesn't eat chocolate cake because he finds it too rich (and eats shortcake instead)? Yet every time they film for Ghana, the boy is just quietly chomping away at the chocolate bars given to him (and looks sheepish everytime the camera catches him eating)...seriously, does he like chocolate or not?!

@Murieleirum About Chopin, of the top male skaters right now, think Yuzuru is the only one whom I think can truly express Chopin. Speaking of which, almost all skaters have some specific trait/skating style that makes it easier for them to skate to certain types of music. For me, Chopin, and asian music, I think only Yuzuru can do the music justice. He's the only top male skater right now I think, who has sufficient delicacy, lightness and flow to express them correctly. So other than Chopin, who are some other composers, when we listen to them, close our eyes, we can automatically see him skating to? I kind of see him capable of doing Rach and Ravel. And in this sense, are there any other composers/skaters who kind of naturally pair up well?
-
Part of it is politics, and a lot of judges might not be skaters nor have a skating background. So easier elements, such as SE, appear harder than a counter, but actually a counter is harder than SE due to the change of edges. With a 3A, it's actually a backwards edge, which can be a nightmare and really screw up the 3A if not properly managed. Sometimes, I wonder if Yuzu does hard entrances too often-like this is now so normal for him that the difficulty is no longer appreciated as much when it is executed by him, but is appreciated when another male skater executes it because it's not the norm for the other skater....

...Are we allowed to chuckle that the first jump he attempted while in anger mode being not that well landed?
-
May the best Ina Bauer win! I tried to do Yuzu's side pistol lunge from PW this past weekend and prmptly fell on my butt after 2 meters...the flexiblity needed for that seems even greater than a SE.

We can give these japanese mascot actors/actresses Seriously, we had Domo Kun, then Go-chan, and now a...frog, who is skating on ice without skates...
-
Okay, I need to know, who was the skater who acted as Go-Chan. Seriously, the fact that you can do a double jump while wearing that, with your head making you tilt off-axis, is not an easy feat. Was it Nobu? Javi? Who was it?!
-
How does one skate while wearing *THAT*?!

I feel like we should do a music cut version where it's just a music that could work for a free skate, and not worry so much about the choreography. Listening to the OST in full, I don't think there is a way to match his old seimei program with a new music edit of the OST. At this point, we have some idea already of which jump layouts he could tackle, and his general inclination towards overcomplicating entries, so it's possible to go for a music edit that would work as a potential Seimei 2.0. But I want a new FS....and if he shows up with Seimie 2.0, would be interesting to see if your edit is similar to what he ends up using...
-
Well he did visit the Seimei shrine....it's supposedly for a TV program, so it could be a "story of Yuzuru from 2014-2018" promo film for the olympics. But still...did we jinx ourselves?
-
For the sleeves, what if instead of directly showing his skin under the semi-transparent blue gauzy fabric, what if you layer a semi-transparent gold fabric too? Instead of a direct cut in the back, which seems a bit abrupt.
