Don't worry about Yuzu, he'll be fine. Yuzu reminds me of this strange combination of my own thinking mindset, and this other guy I know at work. So if I had to dig through my coworker's mentality and my own mentality, this is what I would conclude, from a bit of a shared mentality point of view. 1) Seimei is not a surprise. The idea of the olympics should be a stage where MY IDEA of what figure skating is should be expressed- and that idea is one where athleticism blends seamlessly into art. Whichever choreography or music helps me achieve that ideal is the one that wins, even if others are against it. And I do not want to copy the music of others, as an Asian and proud of it (if I were in his position), I'd want to use an asian musician or music piece to express my ideal. If there are Naysayers, I will let my work and results do the speaking, you don't need to get the rationale behind my choice, as only I understand it, and it's hard to explain. - Naturally, the goal of competing is to win, so whichever helps me win is also the best option. 2) Layout and jumps etc, there is a long term plan and schedule/strategy of how things play out, and what critical steps are needed in what time frame. However, the details and specifics are all changeable so the unexpected does not upset the applecart too much. Hence, I may have a plan (if I were Yuzu) to have a new jump mastered every season, but the specific sequence of jumps might not be determined yet. That is probably the bigger reason why Yuzu was not happy about his health in 15-16, because they threw him off his grand master plan, not just because yeah it hurts physically. I honestly suspect the 4Lz was suppose to come out last season... Lastly, Yuzu sounds reactive, because he's not the type to say anything until it's about 80-90% locked down, and executable. My guess is that he was willing to do something other than Seimei if an even better option came up. But possibly the alternative was similar to H&L, but seeing the not so great reception of H&L, he crossed off that option and stuck to Seimei.

I think it's misdirection, he did say the 3A at the end was a recovery 3A, and that initial layout only has 7 jumping passes I think. So if that's the case, then I would imagine that the 4S and the 3A2T jumps are suspect...part of me suspects that he might even go for 4Lz2T cause #justyuzuthings

Did he say first half or second half 4 Lz? Just asking because that 3A2T combo is looking suspicious to me...it doesn't really make sense if Yuzu plans a recovery 3A at the end. Then...what are the chances that extra Yuzu just goes for a combo instead of a lone 4 Lz? Mental theater of Yuzu's 4Lz: Brian: Now stop being a sadist and go show those people your new toy. ....why do I have suspicions on that "recovery" 3Lz will end up as 4 Lz? Who said he was training 4Lz at the tail end of practice as part of stamina training? It's all part of his brain games against the other guys- "Do I or do I not have a 4 Lz too? " (reality, it probably means his 4Lz isn't past the 80% success yet?)

Not a bad idea....but they would need to explain David's presence. It would be amusing though if he gets gold and the EX of the champ is LGC...though maybe they might change it to the white costume for EX (or maybe gold?).

The other guys, poor them. With chopin and Seimei and if Yuzu skates clean, no one can beat him (at least 95% sure). So other guys need to go for broke with 6 quads in the long, and risk going splatfest to even have a shot. I don't envy being Nate, Shoma or Boyang now- maybe Boyang can pull it off without going splat-tacular, but his PCS isn't enough.

The exit though...wonder if he can get enough power out of it to pull off another 4T.... Though I think a 4Lz exit when stable gives you a bit more speed and power... I should stop looking at this jump on loop before going to work, to avoid being a teary mess when I show up at work.... A red seimei? Hmm....interesting choice....

When I watch figure skating jumps, when I see good jumping technique and a beautiful jump, I get teary. So glad I don't share rinks/ice with Yuzu, because I'd be a sobbing mess all the time.

Well no, you're just an example used to measure the fallout from the eruption, and we did spot you leading the chorus of One Day More while skipping down 3 Axel Boulevard....

It is one lone observation by a scientist who casually works there. A mass singing of One Day More was also heard before the eruption, and after the eruption, new levels of poetic expressions were reached.

If we get to see it....unless media releases his 4 Lz now, what if he goes with layout opt 1 while he practices the 4Lz more and then at NHK, voila switches to 4 Lz layout?

@Hydroblade: I think the Mt Irene eruption of gold showers came with stuffed poohs and smelling salt vapors (vaguely smelling of Onmyouji honey with citrus and cocoa), which led to more excitement on the actual planet. The Planet Hanyu population now seems to be strangely relaxed about it, with some members of the population reaching new levels of zen. The problem seems to be the eruption rocked the rest of the universe, especially one twitter-verse, and that is where the panic is located.

Guys...chill, it should be alright. Much as Korea and China have a beef with Japan, it's primarily over modern history and politics. Japanese traditional culture is still pretty decently respected. I doubt that Yuzu and Satton will attract that much hate-if any, it would come from a small fringe of extreme patriotic guys who would dislike them just because they are japanese (not because of the music choices).

Making my contribution to the 900 pages goal. Seimei eh? Soooo not surprised by now. While I wanted new music, at some point not seeing a certain other 3.0 version took precedence. So Max was right this time, what else has he said about the Olys podium? Did Yuzu's 3A's look funny? Cause I'm curious if the lone 3A at the end will change to a 4Lz, or the jump-that-shall-not-be-named (though I was thinking that won't come until 19/20 season)?

Well, has anyone else announced Carmina Burana yet this season? If he chooses it, guess no one else in the men's field would touch it with a 11 meters pole. So that would ensure this warhorse of warhorses has minimum usage this season. Considering the intensity he showed for Seimei, he could probably pull off Carmina. And he has the flow and speed for it.

Well honestly, if he has to repeat, better this than the other possibilities. I wonder if I have to post this at some point: (Planet Hanyu inhabitants): Tomorrow we'll discover What our God in Heaven has in store! One more dawn One more day One day more!
