Yes! And I didn't know he wore rockerz! I feel better with his replies. We're all worried that he's going for broke this season, but it seems at least he's trying to pace himself for the long term. And it sounds like the jump fixing was of his own initiative. Didn't know he was that tiny though, wow.

I seriously think we should collect up some of the limericks and tell him what a limerick is. Wonder if he'd reply back in Haiku...

I've gotten back into skating, so in a way I'm really thankful for Yuzu. Last year I had a rough time, where I had low running fevers (or mild sickness) frequently. Due to work, the stress just built up. So I got inspired to take up skating again for my health. Now my health is a lot better. My friends are generally happy that I like Yuzu...kind of like "Oh really, so you're not an android? You mean you might actually feel something at times?"

Since we were discussing coach Yuzu. Coach Yuzu: you should squeeze this pooh before you skate. Student: uh....no Yuzu: it is for good luck Student: no Yuzu holds pooh and makes menacing hissing noise Student: *cue Shoma's facepalm*

....well I can't use it as a ringtone since it'll be too distracting at work. Oh I know...how about a wake up alarm tone. Yeah, that'll get me up and ready for the day!

Ok, so our top 6 are closer to 2pm...hopefully less splats.

Question, what time slot are the men skating at? I recall someone posted the exact schedule, but I thought the men were skating at 2 or 3 pm? Also find the live stream a bit much....it already led to enough fights already, chiefly involving one particular troll....

Wow, Nathan is bringing the kamehameha wave to ice?

Hanyan wins hand's down. When I see his face, I think of the opening to Figaro. Just Hanyan jumping up and immediately singing "Figarooooooo!" And his mouth and chin are contorted just enough to look like he's stretching for the low notes!

I don't know if he can because the younger guys are all bring in the war caravan of quads. That might be the case even if Patrick goes clean. But based on the videos posted, if he goes clean, his programs will be one of those legendary programs that makes people second guess whether they should choose the same music. Having watched him since before Sochi, since he burst onto the senior men's, I feel like Patrick has finally found his own artistic "voice" in the past 2 years. This music, soft, gentle and calming is more befitting of his skating and his wonderful edge flow than the warhorses of the past. Can you imagine putting it just after you watch Seimei? Such a contrast, both equally perfect and the epitome of their styles, neither being warhorses too, the other boys better do mighty well to even leave a dent. Personally, the SP is okay, but not as touching as the LP. I think the issue, is that the SP has little places where I think he could do a bit of a pause, skid or stop a bit before continuing. Since the pace is a bit different from the LP, he could afford to be a tad bit more dramatic. Though I will say this- if Patrick r****s after this season, then the SP lyrics make it very tear-worthy...pass me the tissues, now that I'm thinking of him leaving competitive skating, I chopped some onions.

You know, we call him cute, but he proceeds to troll us, holding back on news and affection. In real life, that is called a dysfunctional relationship.

I opened this thread on the metro, bad idea, people probably think I'm crazy....

...What he wants to be a real prince? There is a disney in Tokyo....

This is hard...I'm not sure I can, because the beach picture of Nathan was just that picture from the japanese blogs.....

I'm really bored so now I went ahead and wrote the big 6 beauty pageant preview. Um, yeah, read at your own risk, though it's not funny enough to cause food or drink problems. If anyone thinks I characterized someone wrong, please feel free to let me know. I'm not that knowledgable about all the skaters. And I wish I had editing skills, this would be interesting as an actual video clip.

Big 6 beauty pageant- a meme waiting to happen. For some reason I envision a catwalk with the guys all strutting down the lane, with weird hairstyles and clothing pieces that only fashion designers could love.

I think overall we're just lucky....each skater really has maybe one or 2 things for us to nitpick on, sometimes none. 10 years ago, we'd be nitpicking on mutliple fronts of even the best 2-3 guys. It's amazing this time, it feels like we're finally seeing live, how men's figure skating is meant to be. Speaking of Mikhail, the boy has amazing jumps and I think he's what, only about Nate's height? And very fun programs too.

Cause you know, we like other skaters too. Not just Yuzu. Legs are legs, I rest my case.

Parody of Dem legs of the top 6 men?
-
Well I might give the biceps award to Javi. Boyang might get perfect calves?
-
I feel like he's flexing them on purpose....but otherwise, yes...Amazeballs. This is bad, now I feel like I want to see dem legs of all the male skaters. Who has the prettiest legs? Who has the most muscled legs? Who wins the perfect calves award? Who has the neatest looking kneecap?
-
This is when it's good to be a Boyang fan, I don't think he's been attacked, yet. Actually neither has Pchan. Flying under the radar so much... In recent memory? No. I think Stephane Lambiel had one too, and even he failed to make it look good. Skater butt and A-spins are not a good combo. Hmm...looks like a variation of a corkscrew spin+ an A spin. So Corkscrew A?

It's Olys that's why.... Did they seriously start on the Yuzu over-rotating/underrotating quads thing? How do they know the criticism is coming only from Yuzu fans? The part that drives me nuts is somehow, somewhere the idea of "fan" has equated to loving everything about a person blindly, to the degree of take no criticism. This feels like a misunderstanding of epic proportions, and when we discuss technique, I would hope we all stay neutral. And I will never like Yuzu's A-spin, and cringe when I see that butt up in the air position (do I need to hand in my badge?).

Well Brian....I don't know about that, is your hair that confident? And I think Nobu smells something with the layout....

I think the lack of slow-mo is the issue. The difference between 180 and 220 is harder to ID at full speed, though there are times I suspect it even at full speed because his left leg is really odd. If I refer to Tom Z's video, a lutz should take off with both toe picks leaving the ice. This is because if pre-rotated too far, the left outside becomes a left inside, as the jump off point has a small flag-if you don't jump off, you will go into inside edge while you pivot. So at full speed, I'd check whether the left free leg kicks away and out to be a lutz, or if it turns sideways and up for a flip. As for forward facing...well those soft knees help. He manages to do all that pivoting with his body twisting slower than his legs, so if you check between him and Nate's jumps, Nate's have a bit of a clear jerk up (his body perks up) when he launches, while Shoma's is smoother (like a loop). I really applaud that Shoma is trying to change his jumps, he's working hard like a maniac, but I think his jump technique does do a disservice to the rest of his skating (and that goes back to who monitored his single or double jumps when he may have been too young to know the difference).
