  1. They probably found the general skating chat and rushed over for advice.
  2. Thought I'd stick my head in to lift the gloom from poor Vincent. I think perhaps this was all a self-fulfilling prophecy. I just watched his SP and found it very lovely. Aside from too many quads negatively affecting the artistry of FS, I think he is just more suited to slower music. Perhaps if they could increase the time Kissing You plays it would highlight his strengths more.
  3. God medal: A very dignified Patrick Chan Silver medal: a suitably dignified Daisuke Takahashi Bronze medal:
  4. Ooo, I hadn't seen this. What show is it from?
  5. 2nd POTO is a masterpiece. How'd they make stretchy things look like an oil painting? Howdeydodat? I want to hang it on my wall. I have very recently realised that all my fashion inspiration comes from men's figure skating costumes and I don't know what to do about that. I want Nathan Chen's Polovtsian top so much.
  6. I think I was around 11. I remember we were all just so happy to be able to see a violent and bloody movie with Leo in it because it was educational and cultural and Shakespeare. I think I felt like crying too but I remember there was a big controversy that the ending was changed and Juliet woke up to see Romeo before he died which is extra emotionally manipulative (in true Hollywood style, I suppose.)
  7. I loved that movie to death and still listen to the soundtrack regularly but this year went to rewatch it after Hanyu RJ1 overdose. Dear god, he was so, so dreadful in it! Us little girls were blinded by his looks when it came out (and probably didn't fully understand all the words he was butchering.) I did appreciate Paul Rudd a million times more this time through, though, so I'm glad my childhood wasn't completely ruined.
  8. He's wonderful and seems like a genuinely good person. That Fuji footage we got of him talking about his coaching style and how he spends all his time thinking about the physical and mental health of his students was wonderful. Huge Brian fan. Pity the poor children who don't have that support.
  9. The first time I saw it I felt like I had finally seen the true Romeo. Shakespeare didn't realise he was a Japanese boy when he wrote it, that's all. Though really I think Shakespeare's Romeo is an impulsive, violent little jerk who would have dumped Juliet the next week if they hadn't buggered up and killed themselves, Hanyu is that perfect romantic Romeo I had in my head growing up before I realised how awful teenage boys are.
  10. Do I remember it? I don't think I remember it! Hit me with a link!
  11. Oh yes, it's going to be a good year. FS or EX, I bet $1bil he's bringing it back. (Please don't bankrupt me, Yuzu.) Ugh, can you imagine the power he'd skate it with now after seeing how much PW has changed?! It's going to be terrifying! I can't wait!
  12. Regardless of whether or not it matters in terms of scoring, and even if he had a better grasp of emotional expression, it's really not good to invite the comparison. Again, it's not a criticism of a hard-working kid doing very difficult things I'm sure none of us can, but whoever is making these decisions for him doesn't seem to be thinking very clearly. Congratulations on your newfound Poohdom. (Though Yuzu doesn't look too pleased for some reason. What have you done?!)
  13. That's because it's the most dramatic and perfectly timed fall ever. I actually prefer it to clean - it fits so perfectly with the music and drama. Such is the level of this young man's brilliance that even his mistakes are perfect.
  14. I love this photo, it's so perfect. It reminds me of ancient Greek sculpture in terms of its perfect balance.
  15. Oh dear... I feel so sorry for this kid. All this music choice (and borrowed bits of choreography) does is highlight his inadequecies and Yuzuru's brilliance. They've done him a great disservice. Yuzuru's intense performance is so burned into my mind that that's what I was seeing in my head the whole time. The contrast couldn't be more striking. I don't like to remark on anyone's potential or lack thereof but, technique aside, there are certain things you can't learn - emotion, soulfulness - and, unfortunately, you need those to be truly great. I really think this music should be off limits, for everyone's sake.
  16. Hahaha! I so want them to do a regular show! I'm with Patrick, though. Dying for a skating game. Something like SSX but with super awesome 4-4-4 combos.
  17. Keep the one you like, I say. Isn't his charm his balance of masculinity and femininity?
  18. I love these! How lucky we are to be sending you to the Olympics!
  19. I have no idea but it's so cute and confused and smiley.
  20. I can't work out what that face is supposed to be. All I see is Gegege no Kitaro without hair.
  21. It's Saddleko! (Please enjoy my lazy Ringu pun.)
