    My impression of Hugh Jackman comes only from seeing him as Gaston in the Beauty and the Beast stage musical as a child. I remember not being traumatised so I'm just assuming my ears weren't assaulted. Don't get me started on vibrato, though. Actually, if Mr Butler had used it he could have hidden his flatness, just like too many opera singers (please don't come after me, opera world.) I didn't see Les Mis because I can't take Russell Crowe seriously, though I do a mighty fine impression of him. (Why was that film so Australiany?)

    I have no idea because I don't much like Andrew Lloyd Webber but probably they used the movie soundrack that came out in 200?. Ugh, every time that man yell-sings THA MUUUSIIIC OOOOF THAAAAA NIIIIIGHT I cringe. I KNOW humans have access to auto-tune technology! Use it, humans!

    This is what I've always thought. It actually startles me when I see a clean version. The fall really added so much - it's my favourite fall ever. Everything came together so perfectly for that Worlds, just like it did for H&L. I really think he has the skating gods behind him.

    I'm a bit worried about what he'll do if Javi r****s. There's so much said about how they push each other to be better and he's very humbly attributed all his success to Javi talking him down when he's exploding with anxiety. I suppose the young ones have lit a fire in him but maybe Javi would be good on team Orser as a sports psychologist. Also, if he really isn't bringing 4lz this season, the only reason he'd be practicing it is to use it in competition, right? So we'll get at least until 2019 Worlds, surely.

    POTO offended my ears. That singer was so flat and it ruins the whole thing for me. I wish they'd let him do it before they allowed lyrics. I can't believe so many people okayed that recording.

    All my other favourites won their big titles around 25, or that's when they got really good. I don't think we've seen anywhere near the best Hanyu can give and he's already given the best the world has ever seen. I don't think the human mind can even imagine how good he'll get. He will be turning his back on humanity if he r****s before then!

    I understand what you mean completely. I don't want to sound too heavy but it's about a person's soul. You can pose as beautifully as you like but without soul it's meaningless. That's why even a weak, flailing, asthma-affected Yuzuru can move you to tears. (I don't mention Medvedeva because it gets me in trouble but let's say we're on the same page, though I think she's a sweet and adorable young lady. )

    Well, I'm not so convinced that he'll stick around to not be selling everything I own to attend as many competitions this season as I can. I also need money for those hats I might be eating. (Is it cheating if they're made of nachos?)

    He wants 4A - in competition - and he can't get it this season. Also, if H&L was nowhere near his ideal skate, as he said, I don't think he'll r**** before he has it and it won't happen in a season where he has to be a bit more reserved, I think. (So help me, Yuzu, I will have so many hats to eat if you quit.)

    If you have a lack of a certain kind of collagen it makes you very flexible but also very pale, soft skin impervious to wrinkling and a youthful appearance. This might be the reason?

    I don't think the brilliance of that performance required an understanding of love (I'm sure the love felt by Shakespeare's Romeo's was mostly south of the border, anyway) but of pain and desperation and the feelings of anger and helplessness of being thrust around by fate and forces beyond your control. This is what makes me cry watching it. I've no doubt that his experiences of the disaster helped him express these feelings (feelings which resurfaced in Requiem.) Perhaps we should have a dedicated thread for R+J1. We all have such a strong connection to it.
