Thanks for sharing your experience. It's hard to imagine but it certainly must be awfully frightening to go through and I understand more now thanks to your vivid description. I hope you're managing well now. I don't have asthma but I've found it incredibly inspiring, too. He's amazing. I have a very disabling chronic illness and since finding this miracle boy who skates his heart out, knowing it's going to be painful, knowing he's going to collapse, feeling no shame or embarrassment about it, it's really helped me get through this particularly rough time I've been having. I get worried about leaving the house because I know I'll feel sick and sore, not to mention the embarrassment that comes with malfunctioning in public. But that fear of pain and sickness and embarrassment has almost completely gone and I've gone out on my own in the past month more than I have in a year. And I've done it with a smile despite it all. I just feel calmer about handling it when it happens and though there's no cure, hopeful that I can at least get stronger. I wish I'd had someone like him to look up to when I was younger. He really is amazing.

I think his greatest advantage is his sincerity. Other skaters can move beautifully but he feels and understands the music he moves to from deep within and it makes all the difference in the world. There's no intellectual mediation between the music and his body and soul. (What an embarrassing thing to type.)

Honestly, though, I think it makes sense for women to choose what gets shown when women are the primary audience. Female skaters would be better filmed as well.
