Heck, with their lowering of BV on quads and the triples for next season, we may even have less -3Lo combos in the ladies or never see a -4T combo in men.

Well, apparently both Nathan and Shoma could try out some -4T combos, since one apparently has a 4Lz4T and the other has been seen doing 3A4T. But that seems an unlikely bad risk to take since it doesn't really reward you for the extra difficulty of such a combo.

I love the skirt and I like the colors but I'm not convinced with it on the mannequin so I'll await to cast my final judgement when I see her dressed with it. Edit: I don't particularly care for the large golden patch in the front/back.

Is there anyone here who can edit Wikipedia? With the Olympic season happening and needing to keep Wikipedia updated with actual useful info regarding Yuzu, I went to check his wiki and may I say I find these under Other notable achievements a bit unnecessary? I don't think these are particularly important to have? The first skater in history to successfully land a quadruple loop in competition [118]. [and currently holds the highest score awarded for that element (14.57, 2017 World Team Trophy)] the part in [ ] can be omited The first skater to successfully land 3 quadruple jumps in the second half of a free skating program (2017 World Team Trophy)[202] - I think this can be mentioned in the 2016-2017 season section? The first skater to successfully land a quadruple toe loop-half loop-triple Salchow combination in the second half of a free skating program (2017 World Team Trophy).[citation needed] - He wasn't, actually. I think Yagudin did one before Edit: Actually, Yagudin did it in the first half. Still unnecessary, especially because all it does is give a second half differentiation. Holds the record for quadruple toe loop (14.04, World Team Trophy 2017) and quadruple salchow-triple toe loop combination (18.71, World Championship 2017). - I find this information unnecessary, to be quite honest, both in Yuzu's and other skater's Wikis. I don't know if anyone else agrees?

Take with a grain of salt but apparently the rumors are this is going to be Evgenia's FS dress?

So much blue.

Nathan is definitely going for 6 quads, possibly 7 with the 4Lo if his stamina holds. But Shoma's decisions I've no idea at this point. In the beginning he talked about how adding two new quads would be reckless but now he speaks of the 4S as a quad he may trust, so the 4Lz may yet happen too. And unless he replaces one of his tried and true 4Ts for one of the new quads, to have both 4S and 4Lz in a program means 6 quads. I think Shoma may try the 4Lz at Japan Open because it's a competition that doesn't count for anything and he'll decide based on what the tech panel calls there.

Nah, Shoma is likely going to add the 4Lz at some point, since he mentioned it in his post-FS interview. So I believe he may well try to go for a 6-quad FS by the end. We can use Nathan's speculative 7-quad layout from the skeleton of what he did at US Classic, but I'm also keeping the 6-quad layout possibility open. Though Nathan will probably YOLO his way across the season.

Would anyone be interested in an updated layout/BV table after the Challenger Series are done in preparation for the GP series, or considering half of these guys might change everything in between competitions, it's a moot point?

The Russian Cup's SP was today and here are some scores and videos. Anastasia GUBANOVA SP: 66.70 TES 36.98 PCS 29.72 Anastasia GULYAKOVA SP: 69.97 TES 39.65 PCS 30.32 More videos in the twitter thread above. Note that Russian Cup protocols use a Bonus points system so some of these scores may include some bonus points for elements like spins (Gulyakova got two extra points due to high GOE spins)

This is amazing. I'm going to follow every link. Though I must confess I'd never seen this so now I'm having some Exorcist vibes, geesh:

The detailing is exquisite and the work this must have been to make! But I think I prefer the front and to see the back from afar where the details meld a bit more into each other, otherwise it seems a bit too busy. It's the same with Marin's dress front for me. Looks gorgeous from a bit more far away but once you close in in HQ, the details are gorgeous but just makes it seem a little too busy too. But they're both magnificent costumes. I prefer Turandot's costume to Winter's actually. At least the yellow mesh here fits. I don't understand the yellow in the middle of all the grey in Winter's costume...

I don't have particular feelings for Marin's Turandot right now, though she has some really lovely moments in there (like the spiral) and I'm just glad she toned down the drama hands. Shoma's Turandot I like more too but right now I preferred the original version, which is natural since the one I've seen most is his GPF 2015 performance so he had matured it by then. Plus I preferred the music cuts better there. I'm waiting for Turandot 2.0 to grow more and it should. Winter, I think, is in a much better state and I like it a lot, which is also natural since he performed it many times during shows so it had time to mature greatly. I'm just not sure if between Marin, Shoma and Sui/Han, as well as any other juniors/seniors that might bring their own, I won't want to forget Nessun Dorma even exists by the end.

The Classy plaque Misha is pointing at Yuzu is making me giggle.

What happened? How did everyone decide on it this season all of a sudden??
-
And it's official.

I don't think altitude was an issue I remember reading anyone mention at 4CC, though. I think the arena acoustics were more problematic.
-
Aside from CoR and maybe some of NHK/GPF, I'm probably not going to be catching Yuzu live this season, especially in the Olympics. They don't actually happen at good schedules for me (NBC ).

Salt Lake City. About 1290 m elevation. Not sure if more where the rink itself was. In comparison, Tokyo has 40m.

Hersh is being his passive aggressive self in his digs at Alina's artistic refinement, at Marin being overwhelmed by the music, and in his masked outrage at Mirai Nagasu's 3A getting some negative GOE due to the 'slightly' two footed landing (he later says how good the 3A was so everyone knows he didn't agree with the score on it).
