Slight correction, Brian said that during the two days of media practice back in August. The magazines he said them to may only have come out or been translated in the past month or so but it's not like he's been saying that for the last four weeks. I agree pointing this out is helping adjust expectations, especially if Yuzu does bring in less quads than the ones on his 5-quad planned layout.

Speaking of skating skills, this is an interesting post about the differences between Yuzu and Patrick.

And probably because of the lack of practice it's best to not go straight from several days off to 7 quads across two programs.

I'm sure they've consulted a doctor and it's something minor that just needs some rest, hence him skipping practice for several days.

I'll save my worrying for after his first practice reports.

You know, I was feeling fairly relaxed before this post, thinking everything was fine, it was a minor thing, and a strategy was worked out in advance. Now you're worrying me that Yuzu will just gung-ho and try his full layout. This is no longer reassuring!

So, what shall we be seeing at ACI? What does a watered down layout mean for Mr. Hanyu?

I thought Yuzu said his condition was so-so? And, yeah, Brian doing what Yuzu won't and just saying it like it is. So Yuzu really didn't practice for days to let his knee rest. Hopefully Yuzu does start out easier. You don't trifle with your right knee in figure skating. It may not make for a banging start of the season like he wanted but it's only ACI.

Well, that was the old Yuzu. The new Yuzu is trying to take care of himself more and lack of training due to injury isn't exactly something you should hide.

Question: does the article say he has had no practice last week or he had limited practice? I've seen both versions but they mean different preparation levels for ACI entirely.

Or maybe he's just preparing himself for the media storm when he doesn't jump 5 quads and scores 319 on his first competition of the season, unlike Shoma.

Instead of panicking, we should be happy that: a) he told Brian that he had slight knee pain b) they limited his practice c) he's going to adjust his layout to accommodate for it. Look at the progress from overtraining 4Ts prior to 2016 Worlds FS!

It can come just from normal practice too, though. You just need a few falls or bad landings in a normal practice session across days to put that strain on the knee. I don't know why immediately think overpractice as the root cause.

Right knee is his landing knee so I'm not surprised skaters can injury themselves on it with all the weight put on it. He'll be okay.

Yuzu cannot face Shoma or Boyang in the GP series because they were all in the first seed from Worlds (top 3). The Top 3 and the Top 4-6 cannot face the members of the same group during the GP. So Yuzu cannot be in a Grand Prix competition with Shoma before they both make it to the GPF. Edit: Also, since when is Nathan easy competition!?

There's a couple of other useful sites for statistics too: http://www.rinkresults.com/ -- this site allows you to sort through best elements and see which elements have the highest scores by skater, type of element, GOE or total score. It's a great resource. There's also this new statistics site: http://skatingscores.com/ In here you can find ranking of PCS and SP elements per skater/competition. It's really interesting. But it's only updated with scores from last season and this one.

I think I may need to rewatch Death Note. I now feel the need to see the dramatic eating of chips again.

So if anyone with editing Wiki skills wants to edit that out as well as other info from Yuzu's, IDK. Edit: My initial thinking about unnecessary info on Yuzu's wiki still stands, though. Especially the total element scores and the 4T1Lo3S in second half achievement.
