Ahhh, Han Yan is back! How I missed that 3A and those beautiful skating skills! Isn't it the same music he skated to in the Olympic season? (I forgot whether he mentioned he would skate to the same music). Boyang's SP is a bit empty so far, but I hope it'll have more content later. I am not sure this type of music is good for him though Anyway, hmm I think Boyang's PCS is too high compared to Han.

....crawling back to 6.0, so true. So many times the real differences in skills aren't showed in points as long as skaters land their stuff, the PCS is going up, up up. The wording is often so confusing and far from logic too. When Bianchetti talked about 'same kind of deductions' for any skaters - they made a cap for the highest PCS only, e.g. for top skaters, which is not a deduction. How will they score an average 5-6 PCS skater if they fall twice then? About URs: yes, it would've been so much easier to just go back to the previous rule if the current rule is the problem. Now they're using it 'in favour of the skaters' as he said, which means they can get higher scores for an UR than before in this system not just because of this rule but also because of the max. +2 GOE cap that can't be used in UR cases only in <<. And if there won't be UR calls because of a lenient TP or other reasons, the scores will be now even higher = even more promotion for wrong technique. I don't know why there's no slow motion for falls either. But it's not allowed for prerotations either, which is also ?! If it's allowed for landing why would it be any different in case of PR and falls? About the -5 GOE for the element with wrong number of revolutions: I was waiting for some explanation from Bianchetti but then he didn't talk about it and he gave an obvious example: 3T (planned 4T but pop), 3Lz-3T which then would result in a -5GOE for the combo, that one is clear as you say it too...But then what if the combo is ok but the solo jump has one or two revolutions only, so in case it's invalid, BV is 0? Another rule that it's so unclear it makes me: Ah, no more ranting from me either. The videos were tbh interesting to watch and there were some good and useful bits in them. In some parts I had the feeling they were talking exactly about Yuzu's skating without mentioning his name. I hope many officials will watch these videos. Yup, these videos are perfect for evidence- 6,825 replies

#alwayslearning was the hashtag Next to Yuzu is Lilian Binzari. Then there's Alison Schumacher next to Zhenya? She was Lee's student so maybe she stays at TCC. And on the very left of the picture we see only the face of Katia Kurakova. I thought it was a new picture but it's from 2016.
-
Ah, it's nice to see Yuzu!!! Anne Schelter is a regular guest instructor at TCC Friday seminars, she's known for her edge classes! She works not just with figure skaters but she also coaches synchro teams.
-
Don't worry, it won't fuel any negative narratives - Nathan won't be there either because he will compete at Japan Open the same weekend. It was a polite invitation from Shanghai Trophy but no one really expects Yuzu to go there as he never went to other smaller competitions between his Challenger event and first GP event. ACI is highly possible for Yuzu, even if it'll be quite early this season, and it'll be the first Challenger this time. Both ACI and GP Helsinki were one week later than ACI and SC will be this season so it's doable. I think JSF will announce the list Challenger skaters very soon.

General Skating Chat
sallycinnamon replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I watched the video about PCS Common mistakes, and the most (and only) positive thing is that at least they're talking about the problem, imo it's still better than sweeping everything under the rug and pretend everything is fine. It's likely that it was not the first time that they talked about common mistakes at such seminars, it's just that we don't know about it/the videos aren't posted on YT (btw, it would be really good if more of these videos would be publised on it so that they wouldn't be hidden/unlisted on Youtube. Many officials who don't attend the seminars could learn from these videos a lot). Enforcing the rules is a different matter. One of the problems is that they hardly enforce anything, only in the most severe cases. In the past ca. 3.5 years only 11 fs officials were held accountable, that's really not many at all. Some of them got a warning, others go suspended for like 4 months (at the very end of the skating season...) and then they're allowed to judge again, so how do they expect that those officials learn from the mistakes if the sanction is so small? Usually they violate the Code of Ethics or the general duties of officials, the bias/impartiality rules. I'm not even sure if they're even accountable for violating the specific duties, probably not? Or they just simply...don't enforce them. I just know the disciplinary commission doesn't even have jurisdiction over performance evaluation in general - or complaints against carelessness, incompetence etc. - only if there's also a violation of Code of Ethics. That may partially explain the low number of cases... The Code of Ethics is pretty general but the new changes at least specify the conflict of interests. Even if some of the rules are vague. Another things is that training the judges (and all officials) is crucial. Maybe they need more training time, idk, judges only need to attend one seminar every four years, Tech Specialists every three years iirc, which is really not often at at all (every second year/every year would be better?). They also don't need to do that many international competitions, like for example re-appointments for Tech Specalists: 2 smaller int. events or 1 bigger event with 2 years. How many opportunities can get a judge at smaller comps on national level is different, it depends on the federation itself. So there'll always be some judges that have more experience at a national level, but then ISU could step in and idk, train those judge more who are less experienced, less trained at national levels (mostly smaller fed judges)? And the last one, the rules themselves need to be clear, because the more vague they are th more difficult it is to use them and the more complicated it is to enforce them. But...as long as the intention or motivation to improve judging and the system doesn’t really exist then not much can be done. Lakernik's words come to my mind - they want to make a technical and an artistic program so that the "judges will evaluate components better" in the latter. They could improve the current system, if they wanted to, they don't have to make a completely new system for that? Maybe nothing can be changed. After all, Ulrich Salchow said that block judging=basically corruption already existed in 1908, so can we expect a fair system in 2019?- 6,825 replies

No problem We have so many threads (859 to be precise), sometimes it's not easy to find something.

Quoting these two posts here from the General Yuzu Chat!

We already have a thread here I'l quote your post in that thread, too so that if anyone needs info it'll be easier to find it there (otherwise it gets buried in here General Chat quickly!)

Such a beautiful and well-edited video There's another MAD with Empire of Angels (here), I love that one too!

I think he doesn't have that big goatee anymore, just a smaller one lol? He looks a lot younger when he doesn't have a goatee. Lovely photos, she's so pretty.

Doing all three at the same would be too much, I think first it'll be 4Lz, and then who knows, it'll depend on the practice as you say, but it may be more likely to see 4F first and then 4A. I'm just very curious what his layout will be next season. I agree that program feedback right after reveal is often very different to what people think of it a few competitions later. I think most skaters are interested in feedbacks, what people in general think about their new programs. Many skaters lurk around social media and read articles about themselves, not sure if they also go to forums though, some of them maybe do. Krasnozhon said in a recent interview that almost everyone reads about themselves online, just not many admit it and tell it. There are others who also admitted it, I think mostly they're Russians. Yuzu knows everything but it's possible he's lurking only on Japanese Twitter and not so much on English social media (not because of the language itself because I think his passive English is very good, and reading in English may be the easiest. It's just too much time). Officially it was Timothy Goebel at Skate America 1999 who landed three quads for the first time in a free skate. Javi did three successful quads for the first time in GPF 2012 (despite doing that and winning the FS he couldn't finish on the podum because of his weak SP). Yuzu is the the King himself or Emperor of figure skating, the complete package. So much more than just being a king quad or something else, I agree @Anki.

Thank you everyone for joining! It was amazing to watch some of Yuzu's programs and performances over the past nine seasons, how he evolved as a skater, matured as a performer over the years. It was fun to watch all of it with you! Hope we'll have many more opportunities to organize such parties on a different streaming site as well.

2019/2020 Season Program Announcements
sallycinnamon replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I am a bit worried about Kostornaya's program change, I don't know if it has anything to do with her recovery. Dima's FS choice is good (even if it'll remind me of J/C's FS...), that cover of Sound of Silence might suit his skating style - I also hope the choreo will be nice. But the SP choice is not very promising. I have the feeling we've heard Mozart rock opera so many times in the past few seasons. Is Nam's choice confirmed? I haven't seen the IG Story, so I don't know the source. I always like the Beatles, but I hope we'll hear something different other than Come Together/Let It Be/Yesterday/Help. -
I set the date for tomorrow! I will compile a playlist later! One SP/FS/EX would be a good idea, (thank you @LadyLou for the suggestion!) starting from 2010/11 season, but if you have any special requests, recommendations are welcome

I quite like the music choices, especially Feeling Begins and Lawrence of Arabia. I hope the choreo will be good enough and the music cuts will also be better than last season + please no weird noises in it -
Sounds good! I created a poll, there are some option in the next three days! Those who'd like join us, please fill it out: https://doodle.com/poll/w2knvzdkx3kz3pvv
