[2018] Olympic Games Men Free Skating

Featured Replies

What...  doesn't make me feel better is that Yuzu said he would have skated at NHK on painkillers if only he had been able to move his ankle and this wasn't just NHK, it was Olys. And he keeps on saying in interviews that he decided to sacrifice everything for OGM. I'm not feeling good about all this

Why are people talking as if he’ll never skate again?

Because people tend to exaggerate in panic. He will probably skip Worlds, as he should to be perfectly honest and not just because of his ankle but because of the media insanity that follows an OGM and the million obligations that get piled upon them. So preparing normally would be a chore and honestly, it's a perfect opportunity to let him breathe a little bit and the ankle can fully heal.
I don't have the impression that it's in a bad state at all. It probably needs more time to be fully healed and thus less prone to any reoccurring of the injury. These types of injuries are also painful even once healed, because it takes a while to go back to the initial state.

Anyway, I think next season is going to go just fine but what happens after is anyone's guess. Personally I'm inclined to believe there's less of a chance he'll go on after that but who knows with Yuzuru! I think it'd be really surprising to me if didn't continue at least for that one season as he has clear wishes he has stated before. In general, I don't think it'll be so much about his wishes but how his body handles the continuous stress upon it. Knock on wood and he can skate for as long as he wants and leave on his own terms but I do think that any he'll never skate again statements are way premature, especially as he has basically said he'll go on for a bit yet.

Olympic adrenaline, emotions... these might be sustaining him so who knows what the ankle will feel like afterwards... and I think this time he is emotionally fatigued, compared to Sochi... he needed it all to win this time so Milano might not be in the cards... but, it is yuzu. We can only speculate until he says something.

I wonder if between now and the gala, he can go get a check up done. Japan is close by enough. Take some time to rest. And I'm perfectly fine for a jump-less, gliding and stroking and spinning only Swan. =)

...this is the first time I see live what an Olympic medalist has to go through after winning...I thought one press conference was much after having an exhausting fight, but this here today is another level. Dont know whether to be impressed or terrified..

They've been up since...5, 6 am? They are allowed to sleep in tomorrow right? No morning interviews I hope?

I wish ZU could make me happy longer...

healing his ankle is priority number 1. I am okay if he skips world.

my only hope is he will use Seimei next season... 3.0 is so beautiful, I want to see it clean...
