I don't think he was smug either. His expression right after Chopin was terribly ferocious. Then, he snapped out of character and realized he did pretty good. He was enjoying the moment and joking, I guess, about 'downgrading' the perfect performance he had just done. Something along the lines of "Well yeah, I guess I did good, this is good Yuzuru"
