So Nathan's strategy is basically #YOLO-ing his layout huh?

Chinese QQ stream going back to Lombardia Ladies' Free Program. So how did the program look with all the YOLO-ing?  The PCS doesn't seem that high relative to what we saw at Lombardia. But if you can change your layout this drastically, that doesn't say much for the program....

You know Nate, when we say you could learn something from Yuzu, we didn't mean the Yolo-my-layout bit...

Nathan said earlier he only do 2/3 quad FS in this competition,  so its not yolo or anything. Again, the planned layout looks weird, with 9 jumps and 2 spins

Really like Nathan's programs but 7 quads is O_O. Do I like his FS more than last year because he's gotten better or because there are less quads?

So his actual layout would be 4Lo 4Lz 4F+3T 4Lz+2T 3F 4T 4S 3A+3T? That's a monster of a Layout, and he might switch the 3F into a 4F again...

To my untrained-at-technicals eye, the immediate impression was pretty good tbh. There were definitely parts where he wasn't hitting the music like the jumps but also the first spin....started in silence where the music transitioned which was kind of a ??? moment =_=; The music is good though - fresh and different - and he's improved his upper body dynamism/expression. I found transitions lacking between jumps where he just looks like he's making his way to the other side of the rink. May be a byproduct of his yoloing-quads-depending-on-mood approach. Of all the programs that have attempted weird mashups of unrelated songs, this is the most elegant musical mixing I've heard so far. With all the improv, I hope his on-the-fly maths is good or he might Zayak lol

No one know his actual layout. Last season he had different layout for each competition. I feel like Nathan, Shoma, Yuzu are all hiding abit when it comes to layout, probably they want to see how their rivals does and change accordingly

IA. My impression is that both his SP and FS are an improvement from last year, the music choice is good and there's  a bit more in the way of choreography (instead of the split second of standing a posing last year). transitions are still a bit lacking but the FS feels a lot less empty to me than last season's. His timing needs work but that'll come together, probably before GP really gets going.

I'm pleased with his improvement but I do wonder what will suffer when he adds the quads. Likely any interpretation he had. I'd rather see the programs grow through the season, rather than get steadily more quad focused but that's how its gonna go...

Saw Nathan's FS and I feel bad but I don't get the OTT reaction over it? Music choice is great and a better fit than Polovtsian Dances. I love the stepsequence... and that's it. LOL... Sorry but I'm not getting my hopes up for this. With him having 5 different quads in his belt (4S 4T 4Lo 4F 4Lz) and tendency to change his layout every competition as well as a possible 6-7 quad planned layout by the time he gets to the Olympics I don't feel like this program will mature into something other than a quadfest (prove me wrong Nathan... please...). I do think their strategy right now is to let his PCS rise over the course of the season by slowly adding quads in which is not a bad strategy considering how judging trends are going.

There're always chances he will improve. As much as I'm not really like both of his program last season, he showed improvement from finlandia trophy to 2nd half of season. This time he got way better programs, the music is fresh. The choreo could be better,  and there should have more transition, but its ok for me atm . I'm pleased that he didn't go to the warhorse trend. We couldn't have everything at the same time, lets focus on bright side

4T2Lo3F?!?!??!?!

Probably 4T-1L-3F

I really like Nathan's music choices this season. I like the contrast of his FS with his contemporary SP too. He has some great choreographic moments here, especially in the steps and choreo sequence, and I'm so glad his layout doesn't involve doing all his spins at the end again (he had to change that, it wouldn't cut it again), but it's still kind of in need of some work outside of those more choreographically heavy moments. He continues to do more with his upper body than his lower body. The question is how it'll end up once he starts adding in even more quads. First impressions though are very positive!

Kudos to him, though, for risking that 3A at the end. Maybe he's made peace with the axel nemesis by dedicating his SP to it.

Edit: Agreed with @kaerb. Finally a musical mashup cut that works well!

So, I saw Nathan's LP:slinkaway: ... music - not my cup of tea ... it will be many quads - the 4Lo looking good ... 2 spins and very very very little choreography, some hand flapping ....color me unimpressed ... I like the SP much more ... anyway maybe over the season it will grow on me ...

He only did two quads, though. Well, he popped his 4T into a 2T so that would have been 3...

I find his programs this year great improvements over last season but I'm way more into his SP right now. That is so more Nathan to me.
