Did Fuji just make it look like Shoma and Yuzu both had 5 championships?? They left Yuzu's first win off the chart for some reason...

WC

Men
1. Shoma

2. Sota

3. Kazuki

Women

1. Kaori

2. Mai

3. Rinka

4CC

Men

1. Koshiro

2. Shun

3. Kao

Women

1. Mone

2. Hana

3. Rinka

Boy, sending Rinka Watanabe to both Worlds and 4CC is a choice. Shoulda let her do Worlds and let another (Mana Kawabe or Rika Kihira) get 4CC.

But, yahoo to Mone Chiba and Hana Yoshida to a major senior comp.

At least most of my fave skaters got something (Mai, Mone, Hana, Kao - plus Kaori but that was obvious from the very start). Pleased for Shun too, he was so close to podium that it would feel bad if he got nothing... And for Sota, even though he bombed the free, when he puts it together he is one of the best.

I wanted Mone to go to Jr Worlds as well (honestly her SP in Gdańsk was probably the most beautiful thing I ever seen live ;;) but Mao and Ami are a good team. And I actually like Kao going since he wasn't selected for Senior WC... Gonna keep my everything for him to win this time :fingerscrossed:

So for the first day, only 53% of the available seats filled. The last two days were much better and equal at 84%, but nowhere near a full house.

I agree with this for the reason that as the lowest placing of the top 5 seniors at Nats, she somehow ended up with the most assignments, which seems odd and, if I may call it, a bit unfair to the others.

Yeah it's weird, ok she earned the WC spot and others didn't but that she actually got 4CC as well... Strange. If not sending Kaori or Mai, why not Mana or Rika then. Or Yuna Aoki, she could still gry the minimums...

It is not unfair if you think strictly about the criteria. So, sending her to both is not smart IMO because the events are so close to each other they may burn her out. I hope she can do well at both tho. Then again, Mai and Kaori tick all the boxes too, but no 4CC for them, instead Universiade where Rinka is actually the 1st alternate *scratch head*

Btw, Mana, the next most eligible entry for 4CC got 1st alternate, Rion 2nd and Rika 3rd. As much as I want Yuna to have it, she doesn't tick any boxes :(

Update: I just saw an interview with Takeuchi. So, JSF still a bunch of weirdo is the best explanation for these selections.

I haven't watched the Fuji program, but Nikkan Sports had a title on their paper as "Only two (champions) in the last 10 years, Hanyu and him"

So, I suppose the TV program might have reported with the same meaning, that is, the last decade.

Even so, I agree that it was not fair or accurate :animated-smileys-embarrassed-23:

TV ratings

12/22 (Thursday) All Japan Figure Skating Women's SP 5.4%

12/23 (Fri) All Japan Figure Skating Men's SP 7.1%

12/24 (Sat) All Japan Figure Skating Women's FS 8.9%

12/25 (Sun) All Japan Figure Skating Men's FS 7.5%

For comparison's sake

21/12/23 (Thu) Women's SP 8.3%

21/12/24 (Fri) Men's SP 12.5%

21/12/25 (Sat) Women's FS 10.6%

21/12/26 (Sun) Men's FS 14.4% (Momentary maximum 27.0%)

While I do think the number (+ audience attendance rate) looks sad, one's got to also consider how paid streaming has been pushed since this season. But, how much does that help (or not), I do not know.

Final group on ice for Men's SP at Canadian Nationals.  Good luck to Corey, Roman and have a blast Keegan. :tumblr_inline_mto5i3wxFW1qid2nw:
