November 26, 20223 yr I didn't bother with the men today. I knew Ilia would win. I saw his program earlier this year and was so underwhelmed...it's nothing bit strokes to jumps and then some other stuff. It's just not even interesting. I know he'll just get more pcs each time, for no reason and I'm tired of it. Usually this happens if youre an Eteri skater, but (hate saying this), at least her skaters had transitions, good spins etc... even if there were other issues. This is just anti figure skating to me. I hope he proves me wrong over the years.

It's that which is just so annoying, loads of ppl dont go and look at protocols so they never know if commentators dont point it out. Sometimes you need sharper eyes. I couldn't tell what the issue was with the 4A today until I slowed the video down to 0.25x speed. Then it popped out at me.

It's like, after all of her health issues and 4th places, Cinderella is finally getting her prince... and in this modern version that means GP wins, deserved good scores, and smiles from spiral through Ina bauer!

If I still watched competitions live, I won't even bother to buy really good tickets I'd take crappy seats and wait to be moved to better ones lmao

November 27, 20223 yr Keegan did NOT just skate to Hakuna Matata in a plaid shirt and a pair of jeans and exude the absolute daddy energy. Like what LOL
November 27, 20223 yr Just watched Rika's You Raise me Up at the Gala....she is quite mesmerising, beautiful beautiful skating and expression/interpretation So glad she is back, and looking so happy and pleased with her progress (if not with the FS score yesterday...) Watched Shun too - he is looking much more confident and I liked his loud floral shirt! Mark again mentioned Yuzuru - he keeps calling him "the great Yuzuru Hanyu" which I approve of...it misses the "...est of all time" bit but I am still glad he mentions Yuzu, I hate the radio (almost) silence on Yuzu

Mark was commentating at John Wilson trophy. Shun appeared and Mark mentioned that Shun is another promising skater, also Junior champion, 4th junior champion from Japan and hails from Sendai. Sendai being the home of YH, so far so good, then ..... cover you ears if you did not already hear what he said next and cover your eyes if you prefer not to see Spoiler He then said YH also a World champion like U No who. Ok you think, not too bad. Then no mention of the other accolades won by Yuzu. Maybe an oversight, however, this is doubtful, because there were mentions of other achievements made by other skaters from Japan. It was a deliberate whitewash not mentioning other Yuzu achievements and grouping one of greatness with the herd. In the grand scheme it matters not, because having seen the less than packed attendance at the GP series so far and the Hunger Games Cornucopia for Prologue tickets, it is plain to see which 'sport' is floundering. Captain Smith of the ill fated Titanic was in denial for many hours and kept the ship going at full ahead, taking on more water and sinking the ship faster in the end.
November 27, 20223 yr I'm exhausted, but the experience was better than I expected. It was great to meet another satellite; first person I've met IRL who even knows of Yuzuru. Spoiler I enjoyed the gala performances much more than the comp programs, but that's usually the case for me. Esp Mai's Never enough was quite lovely, I liked it during FaOI too. I wish Xinyu and Shijue could have made it to the gala, their batman program was honestly my favourite of all the comp programs. Keegan was quite charming too (as usual). And some Salt mine-ish content: Spoiler I'm asking this seriously, maybe a more experienced person knows the answer: I see Jenni keeps getting 6s and 7s for her SS, but to my amateur eyes at least she's considerably better (in terms of SS) than e.g. Shmuratko, who receives similar/better PCS scores than her, or Janna Jyrkinen, the young Finnish skater. No hate to any of them, but since these are all skaters from small feds, I'm wondering if I'm missing a key element here. I don't know if/to what extent the scores have to do with her retirement decision, but I imagine it would be quite discouraging to keep receiving the kind of PCS that she has.
