Kamila wins, no surprise and also so boring.  I feel like this is the first time I'm really sitting through her program and it was boring. It honestly felt like her whole program was jumping, setting up jumps, and doing weird choreography in between. Not her best and not the best skate PERIOD. I know she is a good skater and spinner but this was mostly crossovers.

But there's the gold medalist

All Danill's choreography looks the same - jagged and unpolished, unfinished.

And forgive me for saying this, but alll the Eteri girls blend in to one another after a while.

However, the second-to-last spin Kamila did? It was amazing. Almost as good as Roman's spins.

Lol, she deserves better choreo than this. I'm not really her biggest fan (or Bolero, for that matter), but she'd be so much more enjoyable if her choreo made... any sense whatsoever. It felt like a bunch of random moves for showing off flexibility one after the other, somewhat done to the beat of the music, but not in any way related to the music. Not that it matters, I guess, since they only care about winning.

How can a fall equal a yellow box please?

Yellow just means the tech panel is reviewing the jump - likely to check for rotation issues.

How Kamila is judged just kills me. Yeah, she should have won this segment. But not by 30 points. She's scored like she's literally perfect most of the time - meanwhile her lutz has edge issues and there's a noticeable hitch between her combo jumps. But there's nowhere to go with her scores if she ever did fix those issues!

The highlight of the day for me is that Kaori gets an Olympic medal! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

And Maddie was a surprise, she was lovely, really enjoyed her performance today.

Anyway, congrats to TJ on the bronze medal! Especially RikuRyu, Kaori and Wakaba!!! <3:10815002:

She also doesn't look like she's having fun out there, like she's just doing everything quickly to get it over with.

I did that once in a piano recital when I was a kid: vivace and presto throughout the entire piece. Lol.

So pleased for Team Japan!

And honestly, I didn't even tbink Team Canada would make the free skate, but thanks to Maddie we made it to fourth. Some very clutch performances there.

That's the impression I get from a lot of skaters. I'm not going to name any names because it'd feel kind of mean, but I think it's obvious who a lot of them are. I don't think they chose to do skating, and it shows, especially when you compare them to skaters like Yuzu, Jason, and Donovan, who, no matter their skill level, embody passion the second they step on the ice. And that's the kind of thing even casual viewers can notice. It's just so much more enjoyable to watch skaters who actually seem to enjoy what they're doing, instead of just doing what's expected of them. I honestly feel bad for some of those kids, I really hope they do actually enjoy it...
