This is the Olympics. It's not in Yuzu's character to withdraw. Even Rostelecom he didn't withdraw means here he wouldn't withdraw unless he cant walk at all

I think Yuzu is considerably less reckless than he used to be though

But there he had a chance for gold but here he came from 8th place and the podium places sort of of known

Yes, but there's still Worlds. He can write off the Olympics, recover, and go for Worlds. Especially if he plans to continue competing next season. If he skips Worlds, he won't get GP pick choices again.

Oh hell nah his face after that is too similar to Rostelecom, the same sort of wry expression this ain't good

Yes but he has no chance of winning and surely he'd rather withdraw then possibly do irreversible damage that could mess with his chances of ever jumping 4A

Exactly. If he's injured, he should withdraw. They've already chosen the winner. Yuzu shouldn't risk his health for this clown competition. This circus isn't worth it.

But Yuzu is Yuzu and we dont know for sure what his decision will be. So if he withdraws here does that mean he isnt Yuzuru Hanyu? At Rostelecome he knew even if he failed some jumps he could still win. But he ended up withdrawing the gpf after that. Yuzu is stubborn and has his own will but he is also strategic and a human too. Here even if he can jump he can also pop and fall in actual competition. He doesnt have to risk a battle when the winner is decided. He doesnt have to choose to wait until he cant even walk to withdraw. Its not 2014 or 2018 anymore, people can change. But yeah I guess we will have dividing opinions about this. but right now we wait. And whatever happens we support him

Can he talk about it with someone? This is exactly when coaches are needed.

He said his coaches were looking after him and he interacted a bit with Brian before comp yesterday, so I hoped he does have someone to consult with.

I first thought of 2016 Worlds and 2018 Rostelecom, where he skated while injured. But there's also 2017 NHK, where he withdrew after an injury during practice. I'm thinking if it's really serious, he might withdraw, especially since Shoma and Yuma are now there for the country, and his ultimate goal is the 4A.

yes and if his goal is 4A all the more to withdraw here. I am not saying this just bc he is currently 8th and has no chance for the gold. I am saying this bc I think Yuzu can withdraw for any reasons and shouldnt be held against him. Even Plushenko withdrew last minute at home ice. So what. There will always be competitions, there will always be olympics, but your health is only there if you choose to keep it

Watching the landing, I don't think he twisted his right ankle. It looks like a sprain. Maybe that's why he's lacing up his skates (that's a first aid for sprains) and kept going.

If it's just a sprain he should definitely be ready for Worlds with rehab. Tomorrow... I have no idea. This might be the sort of borderline situation that's really hard to call for him. Maybe he'll decide with tomorrow practice. Plush withdrew in Sochi didn't he. His hero did that, so there's precedent, so I'm sure that Yuzu would not feel guilty if he needs to prioritize his health.

(And to hell with antis and media and what not, I cannot give a f*** about them. Pray that he is healthy.)

If he is not ok I really hope he withdraws.  If not in perfect condition, there is no chance of landing 4A here so the purpose is not there any more, and he risks further injury.

I don’t know what to think any more 😔. Even if he withdraws tomorrow I don’t know if I should feel relieved or not - withdrawing may mean it’s not a small injury, or it may mean it’s not too bad and he is being sensible.  If he doesn’t withdraw, I don’t know what to feel either, whether I should be relieved that it means it’s not serious….

I think he can still consult them. I thought he just said he didn't need them in the KnC because he had his own routine these days.

But I also think he's very familiar with his injuries these days and I don't know if consultation would be any help.
