Tbh my expectations for camera work were lower and lower as the season went  . COC, 4CC and WC camera teams are bad , The best of this season goes to NHK   Maybe they have a team for recording ice show and other teams for competitions.

I agree. I would like to see the whole skater, not only upper bodies or faces, through the performance especially in the competitions. Also the skycam and quick changes of camera angles bother me because they cut the performance into pieces and parts of it are missed.

This happened a lot in Helsinki. I was there but afterwards watched many shootings. Many times I felt like instead of the actual performance I am watching the camera team´s interpretation of the performance. Imo skycams, upper body shootings etc belong only to ice shows and exhibitions.

Actually I sent feedback to YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company. I quess they had ISU´s approval, so ISU should get notice about this too if people don´t want this kind of camera work at OG and in the future.

To be fair, Marseille featured lower body shots. Those random skating boot shots... :headdesk:

he walks like a model/dancer but the robes don't fit him very well (i think they're too big?)

also, did he actually write the words himself (cuz the writing looks great) or did he just hold up a pre-written sign...

Swimming in fabric was the style. :) Have you seen the clothes the nobility wore at that time? Pant legs so long they trailed behind like the train of a wedding gown!

I'm sure someone trained in caligraphy would have written the characters. I don't think he'd have time to practice to that extent. :)

isn't he around 173+ cm?  (apparently it says 171 cm on databases but he grew a little bit but just didn't change it?)  can anyone confirm?

also, that monument/image is beautiful and yuzu's autograph looks awesome (i love how that Y looks like a wing ... perfect for his name, really)

Sakurai Sho is listed as 171cm and they looked a similar height when I saw them together on TV. Idols often puff up their hair and wear heels and "secret boots" to boost their height, though, so not very scientific.

I don't think you can compare the master to cheap, low frame, amateurish TV animation (apologies for the harsh critique - I've only seen short clips - but I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would try to animate something as complicated as figure skating on a television budget. O_O) Have a look at Miyazaki's flight sequences, or even just the trailer for Spirited Away. He's the only person who could do it justice.

Though it will never, ever happen. v_v

Actually I find the animation of the opening song of YOI just beautiful.

The opening of persona 5 also uses fugure skating element and is not bad at all.

And I actually think that figure skating is a great source for beautiful, dynamic drawing. Of course you've got to spend a bit of money and talent on it...

Guys,  in only one week we have gone a long way between "wtf, Chopin again ???!!!" and "wow, this new Chopin is going to be gorgeous!!!  Yuzu never disappoints.

Not gonna lie, I'd always prefer something new but the 3A and 4T3T in this Chopin version went a long way to change my mind about 'Chopin again!?' as well as the rationalization about its advantages. There's a lot of risk involved too but I'm hopeful. And he'll have time to work on the rougher parts.

I did kind of wish if he was repeating, he might go for LGC instead (rock those crowds out) but I did consider a few reasons (beside the combo mental block) why he wouldn't.

Plus his pants might not be family friendly.

Also, the animations on YOI's DVD releases seem to have been improved from the TV version once the animators actually had time to do them justice and they're a lot smoother.

In my experience, Rock Yuzu is the casual fan's gateway drug. At least, my family's interest started from LGC and PW and expanded from there. It was the most immediately accessible to them. So I was hoping for a crowdpleaser like that to get people on his side. The pants were a good conversation starter—everybody noticed the pants :agree:

I know it's sort of pointless to ask this now, but do you think he'll do Autumn Classic? I don't think I can make it to Russia.

If done correctly and not annoyingly, I wouldn't actually mind skates shots once in a while... like a nice detailed shoot of Yuzu's feet in LGC's StSeq... but of course, then I'd want to see the whole body as well, lest the picture is not actually complete xD

But i do think Chopin shows off  his skating skills better than LGC tho, i love the flow and effortlessness. for LGC, he had to put in a lot of effort to skate.  and i think what sets him apart and the reason i fell for his skating is definitely his ease across the ice

(i am defending Chopin so hard now lol, what his clean version did to me ):dpooh:
