He still has the whole summer to practice 4lz. Look at it this way, June + July + August +September. 4 months to go!

Now I would give anything for FaOI 4Lz footage :smiley-angelic001:

I...am glad we got a statement from Yuzuru himself. But I just can't imagine how Chopin could be more perfect :confused0066:. I mean he has so many SPs that he could bring back, so he can skate them perfectly and he chooses that one? I guess he just really likes it. Maybe he wants the world to see it (I don't blame him, it's perfection...oh wait).

Looking at the 3 side by side versions, he's changed so much of the program, I wonder why not just get a new piece of music? I guess if you think about it...PW and Chopin are the two SPs that he has certainly skated to perfection multiple times a season, and they were both 2nd season SPs. He never once skated Chopin clean in 2014-2015 season. Reusing music seems to work out well for him. Since Chopin is here to stay, I will enjoy it without asking too many questions

4T seems to be the new best friend. I don't think that definitely excludes 4Lz, but 4T was in both YOLO layouts at 4CC and WTT, it means it is really reliable now. So it can contribute to better consistency. Btw what   is the success  rate of 4T this season? Should be around 100%.

I find it interesting when he said that the decision to skate to Chopin came after Worlds LP. Was is it because he finally could give a clean perfomance or something else? I am looking forward to more comments from him about this choice.

His 4T success rate of this season is 89% with +GOE (8/9), 78% with -GOE (7/9).

It is possible that the mistake-free FS at Worlds gave him confidence and also an affirmation that he feels good performing to this type of music. It made him think about Chopin's Ballade and felt that he still had strong, and unfinished feelings for it and thought that he could develop the program both technically and artistically.

I'd love to hear a more detailed opinion from him too.

This is exactly what I thought after reading his comments. Changing so much the program and keep the music doesn't seem reasonable, but from what he said I understand the he likes this music in particular and wants to keep skating to it. So be it. I hope it works for him well in the Olympic season.

I'm back to not knowing how I feel about it... :embSwan: I mean, it does make sense, I guess. A music he's apparently very comfortable with - and I do believe he can do Chopin better, not necessarily in the sense of skating the previous versions better, but in the sense of choreography + performance being better; to me the closest to perfection he's been was Worlds H&L and even that could have been a bit better - but I can't help but worry a bit about playing it too safe. (And I wonder if he'd be satisfied with that, too... winning by playing it safe - even if most champions have done it. But maybe if he's not, he'll stay around for another Olympic Season and go full out, all or nothing there :P)

Also, thank you for the rule clearing up. I had read that, but hadn't really understood what it meant (the wording seems a bit confusing to me)

New article w/ Yuzu explaining his reasons for bring back Ballade : His decision wasn't based on the fact that its a WR program. He loves the program itself and feels he hasn't done it justice / to its full potential. He knows he can do it better and feels Ballade shows a side of his skating that only Ballade can.

Sounds like Chopin's here to stay guys :drinks: I thought I had seen it at its best and I hope he proves me wrong, like he always does.

Wow... I thought he has done it at its full potential.. :eeking: Chopin was perfect already.. I wonder what he means full potential here.. ? Perhaps he wants to upgrade the layout for Chopin and challenge himself?

He fell on the 4T at ACI so it has a 88.89% success rate (8/9, including both solo and combo 4Ts).

Just one more thing to add. I think it is not only the FS at Worlds and SP issues that led him to Chopin's comeback. Probably he learned  something new about skating with Swan and it gave him some ideas about how to improve Chopin. I start to feel really excited about the SP.

I can't wait to see it!! Programs like this, that rely on a person's heartfelt and honest connection to the music - they never get old nor do they have limits so long as the connection remains as they are a reflection of the person at that moment. If the person evolves, so does the program. Whatever new he has found within himself will be shown in his skating to the music.
