Hm let’s say a jumping pass is removed in a straightforward fashion next season it would make all the less sense to do quad-quad combos to eliminate doubles. I’m just assuming Yuzu’s jump repertoire that was planned for this season for the sake of argument, a layout like his would eliminate doubles with 5 quads: 4Lo 4Lz 3F // 4T 4S3T 4TLo3S 3A3T

4T and 3T are repeated

I can't get over the fact that this layout has a 3A3T as the last jumping pass.

We're in for a series of splatfests next season, if layouts are going to look like this, aren't we? :smiley_hairpull:

I really hadn’t thought of this as a real program lol :13877886: Just so we’re clear I am not making any actual guesses for Yuzu’s jump layout for next season bc it’s really hard to tell what will happen to 4Lz and 4Lo (and 4A) at his point

Or.... 4Lz 4Lo 3F // 4S3T 4TLo3S 3A3T 3A if one wants to keep the two 3As.

I am assuming the 3F is there instead of 3Lz, which has higher BV (although what's Zu 3Lz's GOEs compare to his 3F's?), because this boy of ours do not like skipping any jump type?

Hmm I think it’s hard to compare his GOEs (or success rate lol) for the 3Lz with 3F in the last years bc 3Lz has been the second to last/last jumping pass

Well all his 3Fs always deserve +3s nowadays. It’s really a thing of beauty<3 and there’s really not much he could do better. But you know! It’s not a quad.

Which is why sometimes I am rather baffled that he is insisting on having that jump, even when he upgraded his Lz. We all are in awe of the jump, of course. But BV-wise, and judges-being-fudges-wise the 3F really doesn't contribute much.

...

But, if I were him, and I had spent many a year correcting what to me a naturally counter-intuitive edge of the jump, to the point of that jump is now one of the most intricate jumps in my arsenal, I wouldn't let go of the Flip either, no matter the cost. So, nevermind me.

True! He really worked on it and I have a suspicion he just loves how well he can incorporate it into choreography. It’s just like another choreographic element, like twizzles (but better). Also reminds me of the placement of the 3F in H&L. It’s so close to the half point mark. If he had moved it a bit later he could have gotten some more points for it but he really seems not to care as long as it’s placed where he thinks makes the most sense within the choreography

It's also part of his idea of a "perfect" program, to have one of each type of jump haha. That's also why he never got rid of the flip (but with one fewer jumping pass who knows)...

"Nathan Chen is arguably a bigger favorite at this week’s world championships than going into the Olympics"

Jeee, that's an interesting new tune than what they weren't singing going into the Olympics.  This would be news to me!!

Well, TECHNICALLY they are right...he has a bigger chance, since now it's one-in-four, rather than one-in-seven, with three of the big 6 (big7 with Kolyada) are gone off the radar...too bad Nate actually wished for the lesser favorite if this meant he could compete with his half-idolised opponents...

But, why keep a tone of the article coherent with the interview put in it, right?

A bit off-topic, but I haven't seen this snippet about the bald Yuzu "Tono, Risaku de gozaru" promotional campaign? Lol, I love Nobu here (basically he's referring to the fact that although HE IS actually a descendant of the 'Tono' family [Odas] and he even have the title 'Lord on the ice" written in the headline of his blog, it's the 'white sking, pure smile, small face, perfect prince image' Yuzu that plays Tono. He finalises whining with a 'TONO Is-let's share that role, please![the grammar suggest much softer offer than the tone he is using which seriously adds to the comic effect]), and it has Spanish subs, for our Spanish-speaking users!
