Pray he takes part in Medallists on Ice, I guess? (that was the name of the show right after Nats, serving as the gala from time to time/bonus ice show to cherish their skater's great(est) accomplishments up till this point of season, right? Or do I mess something up?)

Also, maybe this (very low quality) will cheer you up a bit (yes I'm on a diggin up old vids spree):

Omg BB Yuzu being so extra is killing me... Did you see how he threw his shirt to one of his fans? :smiley-laughing021: BB is too sexy now, but back then it was just so... cute hahaha!

I could be wrong but I hardly recall a single guy putting together clean programs in 16/17 season among the quad jumping guys, especially if pops, step outs etc also count towards unclean.  And so far, in the gp its uncle Sergei saving the men?

And he just said consistency is on the podium each international competition? Well, that definately is not US men or ladies last season.

Meanwhile, I wonder who has been consistently breaking WRs...:scratch3:

And looks like we'll hit 1994 or even 2000 before the end of this month!:smiley-happy085:

Consistently ranked No. 1 as well! For 5 straight years! His SP records have stood since 2012 and FS and total score records have stood since 2015.

And it's ridiculous to expect today's skaters to be as clean as the skaters from 10-15 years ago. Of course they were clean, their programs weren't nearly as demanding, the old system encouraged clean skates over technical difficulty, and the difficulty of the programs took several years to become this intense even after the change in 2004. No one had to learn a 4Lz to win. How many of the "consistent" skaters would have been able to do programs with 3-5 quads? My guess is not very many of them. Which is not to say they weren't good skaters, simply that the sport now demands superhuman skill, which in turn brings more mistakes... Idiot people on Twitter, seriously...

And you must remember how long the set ups to the jumps where in that time...

And we must also remember to have the same expectations across the board, not just special standards for a certain someone. None of the men are as clean as skaters from a decade ago, not just Yuzu.

OT, back to yesterday's random hot chocolate posts, I tried my own twist today:

iMdFeER.jpg

Ghana hot chocolate with marshmallows and dried yuzu :snpeace: (and yes, showing off my way too early Yuzu Phiten wallpaper and one of the koalas from @SparkleSalad that will, from now on, continuously hug my laptop screen :P I'm thinking of naming it Zuzu...) It tastes good...

As for the consistency talk, I think it's obvious Yuzuru is held at much higher standards than others, by media and judges alike. For a personal experience, it reminds me of my high school maths teacher. She was very exigent and so our marks were always much smaller than those in other classes. But when it came to the graduation exams, we were top of the top, precisely because her being very exigent meant we had to study more and harder, so we were far better prepared. If it turns out similarly for Yuzu, then I won't mind. Not as great scores for the less important competitions, as long as he gets fairly scored at the Olympics. Sadly, I doubt judges have such a long term plan. But in some ways, judges never throwing candies at him have played a part in how good he has become. And we know that even when they underscore him, he can still manage amazing scores. It's frustrating, as fans, and I'm pretty sure it can be frustrating to him, too, at times, but I think it also drives him further. It's part of why he wants to win decisively over everyone else being perfect.

:tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw: Oh no, that makes me so happy! He looks like a perfect Zuzu! (And that calendar looks so pretty, damnit. >_<) Hopefully he received the big brother koala I left in his present box (I wonder if he sees them before they get donated.)

I get what you mean about the tough scoring influencing the quality of his skating and I absolutely agree. I think it's a blessing in disguise. He's not the kind of person to blame the system but rather do everything he can to beat it. I hope like you say he can reap the rewards for it at the Olympics (and Worlds, too, please!) :)
