When asked, he replied in a post-victory interview with Yuji Ueda that he roomed with Machida in the Athlete's Village. I don't think he's overly picky about living conditions, especially short term ones, considering the 4 days he's lived as a refugee at an evacuation shelter where the conditions were pretty much dismal. If he could live in conditions where every time he steps out of one of the portable toilets, he had to scrape human faeces off the soles of his shoes, he can handle subpar room conditions. He'd probably rate them all 5-stars after those 4 days. Methinks he can probably handle and stomach a lot more than the average person, heh.

I don't think he's picky as well but it might just be others being worried about him. Anyway, for @xeyra & @anyanee - I found the translation/source about where Yuzu stayed.. This was translated by nonchan1023 @ tumblr.

Yuzuru talking about the hotel:

“The room is small and dirty.  There are also a lot of dead bugs.  I’m so—sad”

I’m not sure about what Machida did, but Yuzuru never was in the Olympic village.  Team Japan had a special “village” of their own called “Multi-support House” and Yuzuru stayed there due to his asthma (he was the only one in Team Japan figure skating that DID NOT stay at the Olympic village).

Try @ then no space, just the lower dash, this one _ and it should work as their name pops up as the first option @¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It did!

But that isn't the right dash, is it? It's practically magic. I'm tempted to tag them a few times just for fun in different threads all over the place but I shall sternly remind myself that I'm no longer a delinquent teenager.

I'm sure it's because I'm an idiot, and that it can be done by those who are not idiots.

Lol. Not as big as the one who thought an emoji would make a good username. Sorry for the inconvenience. And thanks again. The performance was quite entertaining. :O) And go ahead with tagging spree of my username, if you really have that much free time on your hands. It's the least of which I deserve. >_<

Ahhh, so that's how it's done. I actually didn't know that either. >_<

Hmmm that's contradicting information. Because he specifically said he roomed with Machida when Ueda asked him if he had a room all to himself. He even went into detail about how they were careful to avoid talking about their event and ruining each other's rhythm. And then he went on about how the atmosphere of the whole village really hammered it in that it's the frigging Olympics. That's a lot of detail for someone who wasn't even staying there to recount...

Maybe they were both roomed in the “Multi-support House”? the info was an answer from an anon who asked "I'm jumping all the way back to the sochi Olympics. I was having some confusing regarding yuzu's stay at the olympic village when I was going through some videos and articles. My japanese is not good so do you know what exactly happened? What I sort of understood (might be misunderstanding but) was he stayed with machida but then the figure skaters ended up moving to single rooms. Yuzu ended up moving out of the olympic village? I DONT KNOW PLEASE HELP!" Here's a link to the post.

But Ueda specifically said "Athletes Village" and he neither corrected him nor made any mention about this separate housing. Unless it's supposed to be some kind of top secret information not meant for public consumption, or for some reason Hanyu had to lie, I like to think he was being honest, even if he's been known to occasionally not be for good reason...

It could be that he moved to this other facility after getting his medal since he supposedly fell ill after that. So maybe he moved there to recuperate. That sounds plausible. But he was staying at the Village up until the medal ceremony, that much I'm pretty certain of.

That could be it.... Yuzu does get a bit vague with answers when talking about his asthma/injuries though. I'm happy he's more open about it now.

And I think he was also laughing at himself afterwards (I think he's re-enacting his gloves reaction here)

oh goodness, he totally was re-enacting it, wasn't he? am happy he got a good laugh out of it too!

that face when he's staring at the gloves in his hands and then later when he gestures to his mother with his right hand are still cracking me up.

Nobu saying something about Yuzu?

I'm still learning Japanese (between N4 and N3 level) so there are likely inaccuracies despite the help from the dictionary.

Someone more proficient please correct me if I'm wrong:

The other guy was asking about Yuzu being the grand master of figure skating? Then Nobu said he's bullied by Yuzu  and that makes him look stupid. The other guy then said Yuzu's a unreasonable Prince.

Then I think he said something about how Yuzu really likes skating and they always talked about skating. And how Nobu still learns from what Yuzu is saying? Not sure about this part, but I heard 勉強 (benkyou).

Thank you for the video and translation:7938863:

I missed this program and was curious about what Nobu said about Yuzu. Glad to be able to see it here.:tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

I think singcarom’s explanation is mostly correct, but may I correct one thing in behalf of Yuzu?

On how Yuzu “bullies” Nobu, he says that Yuzu tells him “これでボケて (Kore de bokete.)” This doesn’t mean Yuzu makes Nobu look stupid.

When they are together, sometimes Yuzu suddenly cues Nobu to make jokes on things they encounter, saying “これでボケて.” Boke is Japanese name for the funny man of a double act, and bokete means “play funny man (imperative form,)” which Nobu actually can do quite well and likes to do. In some fluff piece we can actually see how Yuzu cues Nobu and how Nobu reacts. However, in a short footage inserted in FaOI Kobe (where they were eating takoyaki,) Yuzu was playing funny man by singing a song made by a comedian and Nobu was playing straight man by decisively dismissing the joke as being too old, so their roles might be switchable.

Sigh... Really Zuzu I hope you stay at least for another season because I want to see you again :sadPooh:

I understand the feeling. I kinda afraid that after CoR I'll want to buy a ticket to Milano:13877886: (not that I have spare money or too much vacation days )
