Watching White Legend and then Notte Stellata on the new video (no commentary and HD, yay!!!!!), it does occur to me - yes, he is more mature, powerful and artistically/technically skilled in the latter (as one commentator said, giving a masterclass in what the sport is) but his artistry and ability to channel and draw emotional resonance in the former would be impressive in a skater (actor/dancer/etc), and absolutely phenomenal in a 19-year-old.

 

Oh, and don't you love in the team event. so many of the other teams' skaters themselves giving him a standing ovation?

    It is striking though how noticeably better he is now than in 2014, though obviously he was still very good in 2014. That makes me feel kind of sad for the low average age of top competitors in ladies. If even Yuzu isn't fully mature at 19, how can we expect a bunch of 15-18 year olds to deliver mature performances? By the time they are capable of doing so they've been superseded by the next generation of technical wunderkinds.
