Yes his should've been at the FD open practice which was on Friday before the free skate, so he's doing image training for Hope and Legacy and I foolishly decided to sleep in and skip watching dance practice that day!

Not sure if this was addressed, but did we have a video archive thread anywhere? I know there was a google doc that listed competition videos and translations, but I'm wondering where videos like Fantasy on Ice would go or if there's a specific video performance archive we can keep on the forum (similar to the media thread that was on GS, but perhaps in a sheet that everyone can add to/update).

You know I initially wondered if the fan was talking about the music/new program thread on GS when they talked about Yuzu's FS, it didn't specifically mention the Fan Fest thread but that would be the most logical place. Judging by the entry I don't know if I should expect the music to be one of our unusual guesses or a guess that was common since it sounded like they wanted to to let a single person who guessed it know. At least that's how I take it. At this point I have no idea what to expect - it's either going to be super common or totally unexpected. I'd like totally unexpected after the decision to threepeat Chopin , but I'll keep my expectations low.

lol wasn't this from Together on Ice? He literally was the star there as it was his show. I wonder once he r****s if it'll become an annual show. I was surprised it didn't continue the year after but I figured he was concentrating on training rather than organizing/helping produce a show.

Ah yes, I ended up finding it but I couldn't find the mention about the chocolate! I'm sure I didn't dream that tidbit so it may have been a follow up on that particular piece of news about soup and nabe.

Thinking back on the context of where I initially read about his appetite, I think it had to be in the context of the nutrionist from Ajinomoto and how they prepared soups or stews for him to eat. I want to say this was talked about after the Olympics or the season after it. I'll need to dig around later.

Thank you @gladi for translating this excerpt! What I would've given to be a fly on the wall of that meeting they had in Toronto. My key takeaway was this, both Brian and Yuzu had the same goal and destination, but their idea on the best path to it was different initially. Another interesting thing that I hope both sides learned from was that communication is key. To hear Brian say it was the first time Yuzu voiced his opinion in such a clear and straight way about the loop gives me hope that the training is much more efficient and in sync than ever before, I'm sure this is why it appeared to bear more fruit after Skate Canada as well. While they may have initially had a difference of opinion I can see that it came from a place of love and caring.

I swear I read once that it takes a while for his appetite to get going. Maybe someone remembers where this is from, but I swore I read an account where he would eat his meal and not each much of it, but later his mom would find him nibbling/snacking on chocolate later. I can't remember where I read this, but I think it was a couple years ago. Any fans remember this? I think in the first making of Ghana CM you can see him continually snacking on the chocolate so I think he does like chocolate, even if he doesn't eat it all the time.
-
He actually said he doesn't typically eat chocolate cake because what he typically eats is "shortcake". He didn't give a reason why so I don't think it's because it's too rich (although the cake they ate in the clip looked rich). My guess is his family just usually buys shortcake when they get a cake because I think he's actually said he likes chocolate.

this was just me musing about his height. Seeing him stand next to it, it does almost look life-size (the Xylitol newspaper spread wasn't). Probably the only life-size replica is that Madame Tussaud wax figure.

@Murieleirum thanks for the insight. I always felt that LGC was the type of program that had very little room for error. When I think back to the short programs for all top 6 men they seem to all have a slower tempo. I'll be curious to see what Jeff picks this season and if he takes these type of things into account.
-
@Murieleirum that's very interesting! I have no musical background or understanding, but were Ballade and LGC of a different tempo?

My hunch is that Yuzu won't be skating to Swan Lake, especially given that he already did White Legend and Notte Stellata this season, I know Notte Stellata isn't exactly Swan Lake but it seems like three swan themed programs in his entire career so far may be a bit too much. I actually had a crazy thought that he may want to mimic Arakawa and do Nessun Dorma, but I think his choices have matured over the years. I don't know if I expect a warhorse, but I do expect a safer/surer choice in theme for his programs.

Joey, I feel like you're saying what I'm thinking! I'm on the same wavelength with nearly everything you said and have thought similar a lot. I keep waiting for Wakaba to have her explosive moment in her senior debut, and I think she may have at WTT (I'm actually surprised they scored Mai higher than her in the free, but maybe part of that was due to consistency and the fact that she skated after her). Her inconsistencies have been her biggest issue and I think she was underscored in her SP at worlds, but to me she has the most potential technically and also to grow in PCS. Mai with her consistency, jumps, and skating skills, with more mature programs I could potentially surpass Satoko even though Satoko is more refined and elegant. I think her technical ability can make up get the gap in PCS if she can consistently deliver her content and has better programs this coming season. I think she's the one that has impressed me most watching her live. When I first saw Marin skate I actually thought she was the one with the ability to do the intricate and amazing step sequences that someone like Mao is known for. Her jumps have good flow in and out but there's something a bit awkward about them at times (maybe it's her picking). I also hope she gets more mature programs, and maybe something a bit more fiery. Her programs so far have been very sweet and play to her beauty, but they're not really my cup of tea. As as much as I like Satoko's skating I've always felt her world silver in Shanghai was a bit of a fluke and I didn't expect her to ever win another world medal. I did think she had a good shot at getting another world medal this year but she's lost momentum with her injury. I don't think her spot is as secure as it was before. I do wonder if they might choose to send different set of ladies to worlds vs the Olympics. They will want to get those 3 spots back for sure when worlds is in Japan in 2019.
-
I think it feels pretty open right now for which two Japanese ladies will end up at the Olympics. I would give an edge to Satoko and Marin, although Satoko's condition right now seems to be a question mark. I do think it'll come down to who can do well on the GP and make the final. Marin I think has the edge since she's so commercial, a bit like how the US pretty much had to put Jason Brown on the Olympic team back in Sochi since he went viral. Marin already has quite a few endorsements.

Sent in a donation in what I hope is an auspicious amount, loving the new forum so far!

I'm excited to see Wakaba's 3A next season, I hope she can get it consistent. While I liked both of her programs this season, I didn't particularly think they highlighted her best qualities. I think when she says something that shows off her speed she means something fast paced and energetic, and what immediately comes to mind for me was her Csardas SP from her first junior season. It really is a shame that Japan only has 2 spots for ladies, I want to see them all get a shot at the Olympics!

I was going through the rest of my Helsinki videos and uploaded the remaining ones, here are the last few from the small medal ceremony and the gala. So, true story, I thought I had recorded all of Yuzu's shenanigans with the 4T-1lo-4T at the end of the gala only to find out that in my sleep deprived state I was in picture mode and not video mode and I didn't record any of it !

Thanks @yana!

Yes! But the original one I saw was recorded from TV I think and looked HD. If anyone can find a higher quality version you will have my thanks :)

I've been looking for a video I saw quite some time ago, but I think the original may have been taken down from youtube so I didn't get a chance to download it. I think it's a special tv segment for Fantasy on Ice in 2014 (I can't remember what city) with Yuzuru, Daisuke, Nobu, and Akiko. Each of the skaters came one-by-one after being called by each other to talk to the host, Nobu called Daisuke, then Daisuke called Yuzu who skated over and sprayed ice at Daisuke's feet, here's a gif of the moment: http://nonchan1023.tumblr.com/post/92704718088/mischievous-yuzuru-xd If anyone can help finding the video I'd be very grateful!

I love Yuzu's spins, particularly in his short programs and exhibitions. His spins during his free skates are good but I think he tends to pace himself to complete a longer program so they tend to not have the amazing speed they do when he's skating a short program or an exhibition. The first time I saw Yuzu skating Requiem in Boston I was blown away by his spins in the program, they were stunning. Same with Notte Stellata, I also really love the final camel spin in that program. For the SP I really wonder why more skaters don't try to add in choreography the way Yuzu does. The little touches in LGC and Chopin really elevate the program.

Glad the JSF decided to make him seeded for nationals, if winning Worlds doesn't prove you should be seeded I don't know what would! Plus 1-3 are still seeded as usual. I think the JSF are mainly covering all their bases here to ensure Yuzu goes to nationals for the Olympic season and earns a spot on the team. Before this decision, if for some reason he had to skip a challenger or GP event for whatever reason the clause where having an international competition to get a bye to regional competition wouldn't apply and basically he'd be out of nationals. Daisuke Murakami had 2 GP assignments last season but had to withdraw on the first one, I think this forced him to have to go to regionals and of course since he was injured he had to pull out as well and never made it through to nationals since he didn't technically make it through regionals. I think the decision gives a little added security in case something out of the blue happens which would've required him to do regionals to get to nationals.
