I shouldn't laugh, but I am laughing I think that until he won't manage to have a decent 2nd half in comp he's not going to bring in his program such a disruptive element for his stamina (other than a mightly dangerous one) In runthrough he has always skipped some jumps, spins or stsq, so we don't even know how clean he is in practice on the whole program at the moment...

ok, I changed my conspiray thepry about Nessie placement after the first FS jump he's taking a bit of choreo time (the long besti) and he's jumping 'only' a 4T after that so he'll have time to recover from a 4A (or eventual mistake on 4A). 3Lo might remain 3Lo or go to 3F or even 4Lo, if he's feeling inhuman and wants to have a 5 quads layoutHis short preparation for 4Lo could probably fit, tho it wouldn't be as disguised as the 3Lo or 3F... but I still think Nessie won't say hi for a while... and I also thought about Sasha's 4S last season (before they ruined the placement to add 4T), it was a good example of using music in a smart way to make preparation for a jump (and skater looking focused) look exciting instead of boring If that's worth a I guess I should add some more to my speculation about swapping 3Lo with 4Lo Zu if you're reading I'm not challenging you plz

Possible, but I have in my eyes those super-saved landings that he had on other quads when they weren't polished yet and I go those aren't good for any kind of ankle Yes, I worry, but I also want to see Nessie and he wants it so bad, ahhhh what to do, what to do? Conflicting feelings

I'm with @WinForPooh for conspiracy theory for the SP I don't care it would make an otherwise (likely)stable SP risky, I just can't wrap my head around how insane it would be to add a Nessie to an already terrifying FS I'm telling you, ISU removed the required step before solo jump for a reason imagine if Zu had that power tho if he has too many crazy steps before his solo quad (who am I kidding, no 'if' there!) then no, he didn't use his dark powers to bend ISu to his plans... 4S will stay or maybe will be upgraded at 4Lo later in the season (I wonder, even if his 4Lo is back, if it would still be too much of a burden for his ankle to go for two 4Lo at the moment...idk if he'd really keep 4S only for 'strategy', he refused to do that last season, when he had so much more at stake...or maybe it is precaution, but to not risk his ankle, more than to not fall behind in the SP...) anyway, I'm a bit surprised at how many satellites are betting on a 4A debut at earlier events...considering we know for sure that his ankle isn't really really really at its pre-injury status yet, and that Yuzu barely had a couple months of serious training and he had to get back 4Lo and do his two new programs and get used to the shorter FS time... and that he admitted he can't train that jump everyday... and that he usually improves his stamina later in the season and we don't even know if he'll even have enough energy to complete his 'easier' layout decently in these first months, nevermind to go for 4A... I mean, yeah, Yuzu is crazy and unpredictable, but not that crazy... and 4A is 4A. It just feels so impossible to me, too many elements point towards a debut later in the season at the earliest (and only if Yuzu stays in perfect health all this time)

2018/2019 Season Program Announcements

or maybe he's going all-Prokofiev this season -
and he makes people believe too

that shot of the InaBauer is criminal

Team we're fewer but still good!
EisElle replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
oh good, we'll see our Gomez Addams again good luck Nikolaj! -
that's amazing, thank you for making it! also, it reminded me of how much I loved her first Skyfall costume
-
she's s pure give her hugs! so what she wants from this season is calm... she must be feeling so much pressure (tbh I kinda had a moment from that Sasha segment where they mention Alina's need for support and Eteri says Sasha is strong. Sure she is, but...idk, maybe I'm reading too much, thinking that at least one of her current ladies will be cast aside next season) btw re: someone added eng sub to the video of the interview subber

"Yuzuru is a champion because he believes" (also, Shae looks amazing as always)

I wonder who else was one of the super-cautious satellites who voted for next season...the other would be me I'm trying to keep my expectations super-low, so if Nessie appears before it will be a pleasant surprise, but I won't be disappointed if Nessie doesn't show. No pressure from me, Yuzuru! If it appears at ACI, tho, it will be a shock But I really think it's too soon, it's unrealistic to expect that from him, even if he's still Yuzu... if it's really ready enough for him to try it this season, I would say COR, where he successfully debuted 4Lz and with Plushenko watching (talk about pressurehe'd hate to disappoint his idol...). I don't expect him to add it for a big comp like GPF or Worlds without trying it before...he's never done that, so it would be OOC And he wouldn't try it at Nats because for him it's a major comp and the jump wouldn't even be ratified, so if he landed the jump well at Nats and failed to land it at Worlds he'd be really kuyashii *conspiracy theory* I'm starting to think, what if the placeholder for 4A is 4S? I'm talking about the 4S in the SP. There are no rules agains using a 4A as solo jump, right? I know skaters should usually aim for a stable SP, but honestly, if his priority is 4A, not getting the gold, Yuzuru would risk messing the SP. The SP is a bit less packed than the FS, now the free skate is shortened, and it requires less energy. IMO he'd have harder time jumping 4A in that crazy FS of his, where he needs to have enough energy to complete 6 more jumping passes and all the other elements... while in the SP after Nessie he would go for twizzle-3A (yeah, that ain't easy either...but maybe easier than doing 3 more quads and three combinations...) and then in second half his 4Tcombo that he could do on busted ankle... and we haven't seen his SP yet *end of conspiracy theory* but he has never debuted a new jump in the SP only, so that would be OOC too idk what to expect

I'm curious about the R&J they choose... and about Shae-Lynn's coreography OT: Has she ever done a R&J choreo?

while "practice and pray" doesn't sound a very sound strategy, there is a percentage of risk you can't take away... for example, for all Yuzuru talked about avoiding injuries and being healthy, he also stated injuries could happen...that risk is part of skating, and part of athletes challenging themselves...and indeed he injured himself (even before NHK, with the knee pain and other things we knew later). I just hope and pray that Eteri is really trying to minimize the risks and isn't just leaving everything in the hands of fate (because chronic injuries can actually be reduced with good practice, and skating in optimal physical and mental condition also reduces the chances of acute injury) I have to say, tho, Sasha is truly amazing. Fearless. Hungry. I want to see her keep competing for many years, because her drive and ambition is certainly inspiring. "Then I would jump quints" She reminds me of a certain someone I wonder if, 8 years from now, we'll be reading all these discussions about quads and ladies and eyeroll at our unnecessary worrying... or maybe the fears will have been proved right... All depends on how the next few years will go...and it will tell us who was right. History is always written by the winner. If Sasha will have a successful senior career, these years will be remembered as the birth of a legend (tho in a way she's already in the figure sakting history, as the first lady to land 4T, and a quad combo and so on. But that's different from being a legend IMO)

well, that twitter thread comparing Yuzuru to cat exists for a reason... (I bet he's seen that too) unrelated, but when I opened the Planet homepage I almost had a heart attack reading 0 days on the countdown to ACI......my brain had failed to register the 3 next to the 0 exactly five minutes before that I was reasoning that I have no reasons to feel as anxious as last season because this time there are no OWG looming and Zu isn't betting his life on that gold, so both Zu and I can take it easy (LOL), but it looks like being zen is just an illusion

This is so hilarious (and probably so true)

Ted Barton, who created and supervises the JGP ISU channel + provides sensible & tactful & insightful & tireless commentary for JGP I don't know when he has time to rest tbh, he does so much work, that man is superhuman ETA: he's from canadian fed, and maybe the schedule of canadian jgp + jgp skipping next week made it possible for him to go to ACI too. Last season there were two ladies
-
because he's doing backcounter3A since forever and consistently? While the twizzle sandwichs successfully landed (practice excluded) can be counted on one hand? oh well, he's been training the new sandwich for two years now, long time plans as always OMG that's such a Yuzu thing, I can't (iirc last season Rika broke her finger, don't remeber which one, and she said it made jumping harder idk if true, but still, please Zuzu take care!) only 10 minutes? you are underestimating them
-
I think he'd rather replace 3Lo with 3F or 3Lz than doing 3lzSEQ, no matter the BV it's much more consistent for him, so likely good GOE too and less risk of doing a mess (and he would avoid the risk of zayak he has right now with 4Lo and 3Lo) and he's never ever tried that kind of sequence asfaik cosmic conspiracy or just crazy-level of planning? (tho I think this year equinox is on Sept 22th in Canada whops...well, we can say Autum is waiting for Yuzu's permission to start, or that Summer wanted to have one competittive performance from him... think about that, barring WD Yuzuru will compete in Autumn, Winter and Spring. Poor summer got jealous Ci

Wut? Why should ISU sabotage itself like that? (Wait, it's ISU I can't put that past them) What would they get out of that? And why should it be special treatment for ACI? When ACI is gonna have so many top skaters and skaters like Donovan who could use some international attention? Wait, iirc USclassic will livestream only for nbc gold, but fed will upload videos on their channel... if for ACI it's some broadcaster rights thing I can understand, but what the heck would ISU restrictions even be? If true, it's just plainly DUMB And they aren't learning anything from JGP and Ted Barton
-
I know about 3 - US classic, Lombardia Trophy and JGP Richmond -, idk if there are others too... But JGP is the one with more entries. IIRC for the others there may be around 10-15 people per discipline, on average... (and US classic also has Jr and novice)

while I'm sad S/K are no more, I'm even sadder to learn how Ksenia was feeling...but if Fedor lacked the competitve fire, it couldn't work. I wish her all the best with her new partner, hoping they can make it work... and I'm curious to see if the dynamics will somewhat change...I don't know the guy, no idea if he's just going to replace Fedor or they will built a different image of the pair... ok, the acutal interview is better than what the caption lets on...still, I wish TAT could refrain from comments on fire... poor Alina, of course now she isn't the challenger, she's the one 'defending' the crown... that's an entirely different mindset...she's probably still trying to see how to cope with her role (tho yeah, programs don't look good, but that's mainly on the choreographer) A bit at TAT mentioning Elena's weight the ending sentence well...absolutely no pressure, ladies! I guess I'll take that as an encouragment to skaters to work hard...

Junior Skaters of 2018/19 season
EisElle replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
but they need that jump coach fast. her jumps issues aren't new, what are they waiting for? and without the TES she won't be getting the high PCS she deserves...because no way in hell she was 10 points behind Sasha T in Kaunas FS (with all respect to Sasha, and I like her FS) -
I wonder how long it will be before I go from to to with Yuzuru's costumes.. or maybe I can be from the start... but then where's the fun? tho I'd like to start with at least a minimum level of acceptance like instead of welcome welcome and what a nice nickname! and thank you for the comparison... well, he did say he was using only some of the pieces used in Plushy's program, so some parts are different... (tho I'm preparing to people saying 'this was better than that' on the parts that aren't different) confession: I'm not sold yet on the sideways lunge, on the part right before the SE-3A2T and on the ending (tho we lack part of the ending choreo, so it might be that) I mean, yeah, I love his lunge and I thought it was masterfully incorporated as brief transition in programs like Seimei and LGC, but here it looks a bit ? to me, at the moment

Well, he brought that upon himself, fanyus are greedy And he's enjoying the likes all right
