  1. remember the Gundam-inspired Dory? more seriously, as this program is mostly a tribute to his own origins first and to those who inspired him 2nd, I think we're relatively safe it wil still be a Yuzu costume, so the only thing we know for sure is that it will be very sparkly I hope it will show off his beautiful lines tho
  2. re: languages aaand to keep the post OT crossposting from the fanmade videos thread because it sums up the many things that brought Yuzuru to be Yuzuru (as the video are from chinese fans or at least I think they're chinese please tell me if the author didn't want the video shared outside of that platform)
  3. more videos, from bilibili this time bgm Otonal (it makes me super-curious about the music cut of the SP) https://www.bilibili.com/video/av31042430/ and long summary of Yuzu. TRIGGER WARNIG: scenes form COC14, NHK17 and 2011 earthquake and tsunami. I strongly advice people who are particularly sensitive to the footage of the tsunami not to watch but the video has an happy ending I wish I could read the subtitlesbut still a good video with many emotions https://www.bilibili.com/video/av28019389?from=search&seid=6870182790379170829
  4. that's ISU's fault tho the guy wants his transitions and he wants his signature moves, so he said: the heck, I'm doing both at the same time! it's ok, we can still enjoy long-ass hydro and Ina in Yuzu's ex
  5. tbh I don't dare expect a super-clean SP either whatever he will do, he will skate at the best of his abilities at the moment... crossing fingers for no knee/ankle/back/whatever pain... but canadian silver curse started before Sochi, so... (and I'd rahter have a GPF gold and ACI silver rather than ACI gold and GPF silver, if skating gods decide he still needs his annual Canadian silver this season too)
  6. but isn't he doing 2 spins at the end? where does ChSq fits? (unless it's attached to the stsq?) in 2 minutes he does all combo + 2 spins+ all the transitions...that's a lot of stuff...
  7. the overlord will be merciful and give us first pancake, to gently ease us into the new season... that's why he starts like that, didn't you know? So us fan can slowly strenghten our hearts before he kills us with the complete package LOL I thought exaclty the same ETA: and it looks unforgiving with mistakes...he said the FS is harder with the reduced time, but he isn't making things easier for himself, at all 294395458 transitions, endless changes of direction and a lot of up-down-up-down and so on....
  8. ............... ah-ah, you're so funny ................
  9. why can't I download anymore from YT anyomore? I need to rewatch this clips without wifi i need it
  10. I shouldn't react like this at these snippets of a program, half of them I've already wathced countless times... but I am if you hear weird dying whale noises that's me btw happy birthday!
  11. more than his picking technique (that actually puts more strain in the toe despite looking so nice and light), I think his soft landings are what limit the damage on boots (and on his foot and all the joints). Of course Yuzuru can have bad/heavy landings too, but on average he lands with nice running edge while e.g. many of Nathan's landings look like he stops on the spot (another example would be a landing like Yuzu's 4lz during WTT17 practice). All that rotational energy from the jump must go somewhere, and if it isn't (partially) converted into exit speed, it means it's all absorbed by boot and body... tbh if Yuzu had less than amazing technique, IMO his ankle wouldn't even have held thus far, with his long history of ankle sprains since his jr days (and once you injury a joint it's usually easier to re-injury no surprise Yuzuru said they couldn't understand what exactly was wrong with that poor right ankle of his)
  12. RE: FS not getting enough attention *start of the rant* I rant about that everytime I stumble into football on tv, which here is...well, every.day. I've been particularly last month because I had hope August would be a bit tamer, but heck I couldn't spend ONE day without watching something football-related and I got majorly fed up well, I had no wifi, when I have wifi I just watch what the heck I want Once upon a time summer was for football market news only, now they have actual competitions during all summer, championship started on the freaking 18th of August (and there was no Zuzu media day in sight) and no day of the week is safe anymore! Once, you were resigned that weekend and a bit of monday were all for football and football news and football talk shows, but now every day I can trip into a match or a talk show and every day the sports news are about darn football only and I'm just so fed up that my countrymen only care about that! I'd feel less salty if all the other sports together could get half of the air-time of football, but no, it's everything else 1% and football 99% (I suppose F1 and Moto would be the most followed sports after football, at least that's what I can tell from the number of sunday afternoons they get on the main channels...) it feels so wrong that nobody knows about the brilliance of this guy there are 0 chances a casual viewer can find a FS competition on tv. Heck, back in March in Milan the guy working at the metro info point didn't even knew there was a freakin World Championship in his city *end of the rant* LOL same amazing spins, but that costume...I'll definitely have nightmares how to unsee
  13. @lazuliblade thank you for your archive I'm sure he does, he plans everything, I think having boots at the ready is part of planning (I guess since ACI17 he's also paid more attention to gloves LOL) ah, I miss Yuzu even if it's not even a week since we were properly watered with content the countdown in the homepage is making me and I still can't decide which one is stronger
  14. I agree with your point, that's why later I said that maybe they would have not reached those results without each other (but Yuzu would have likely found his path somehow, tho of course we can't know if that path would have lead to 2 OGM) It was more of a speculation based on the perception of the skater's strenght compared to the rest of the field (linked to the titles achieved, of course, but also to how they were achieved). By themselves, Javi's accomplishments are amazing: 2 Worlds + many podiums + his incredible string of Euro titles. But if you consider Yuzuru's accomplishments... same number of WC, but in head to head competitions Yuzu won gold over Javi more often, and in general Javi was always the one trying to catch up (e.g. he changed his layout after GPF15 to close the gap)... idk how much dominant Javi was considered between 2015 and 2016, I wasn't in the FS fandom back then, but while in Boston Javi cemented his status as top skater, that very season Yuzuru had been the one to break all the records and shake the whole FS world. Despite his Boston and 4CC17 losses, Yuzuru was still the favourite going into WC17 (until the SP), so I'd say that, Euros aside, the general crowd and most media didn's see Javi as 'the one to beat' (the one with the highest scoring potential, the one that can lose only if he makes mistakes, the one whose silver medals are considered as losses). then Yuzuru went to win Worlds17 with drama and WR in a very high-level competition, and that is the kind of things that sticks in people's memory and feeds the perception of greatness. And historically OGMs are what are valued the most and Yuzu got 2 of them (again, one with WR and the other with drama, the guy just can't do without) So in this sense, when people think about Javi's titles they are amazed, but when they think about Yuzuru's they are more amazed. It's not that Javi isn't a top skater, it's just that at the very top of this generation, in general perception, there was always someone else that's what I mean with 'shine more': if Javi (with all his accomplishments), had had as a rival a 'merely' 1 OGM+1Worlds champion or a 2xWorlds champion+OSM or something and if many people had been breaking each other's records (like between Vancouver and Sochi), it would have felt different, but Yuzu hoarded the major titles and all the WRs for himself I hope I've explained myself unnecessarily long opinion under spoiler to keep the wall-text OT I'm not ready
  15. yeah, but while it could be an innocent fan-reference to Yuzu, like the girl skating to Seimei (or that wasn't innocent?) or the juniors dressing with H&L costume, it could also be that whoever chose the song really loved the lyrics and wanted to skate to them (hey, de gustibus...)...or maybe they thought it was still fresh take on The Swan, compared to the original version (you can't deny this particular version is still not warhorse...yet) IMO it's also a different situation from e.g. Vincent's RJ last season, where the specific mix of tracks and music cut were so obviously similar to Yuzu's that one had to draw comparisons (and iirc he had said he liked that program too) now, if e.g. Shoma had skated to Blues for Klook, knowing he's a huge Dai fan I'd definitely be ??? if Mihyoko had denied any reference, or if, idk, Stephen G. skated to PW... but it's about a junior lady, so imo it doesn't really matter where the inspiration comes from (of course it the girl likes Yuzuru's NS I'll say she has excellent taste). That's why I find ?????? that Misha felt compelled to absolutely deny any connection...even if there was a connection, it would have not mattered (it's not like he's also choreographed a Seimei, a LGC and a Ballade n1 all in the same season LOL) to me it sounds as if 1) Misha was worried people were still hung up on that old discussion of him 'exploiting' Yuzuru (if so i'm sorry for him, but he really shouldn't) 2) he wanted to make a point (not clear against who, and in this case it sounds a bit petty) 3) idk
  16. well, the whole thing on Misha's IG (FaOI drama) was quite unfortunate, and I think it could have been handled better. Personally, I'd prefer if Misha just let everything slide into oblivion by merely not mentioning anything again, as I think his not-at-all-veiled hints about certain skater* only rekindle the debate (and I understand why it would make some people sour... at a point the whole fandom felt somehow called out, when in truth the unreasonable voices were a minority... it doesn't really matter how loud they were, he made them all the louder by addressing them like he did) confession: when I heard Notte Stellata during that skate I thought 'Yuzu!' but only because, even as an italian, I've come to know that song through Yuzuru (not a fan of Il Volo LOL tho my mum forced me to download a couple of their songs for her well, she followed the talent show where they were 'born' so she has some fondness for them). I didn't even know it was Misha's choreo, I've learned that from the comments in our JGP thread... Maybe the girl loved the song itself (I'm always surprised at how some songs are almost more known in other countries than here LOL) or maybe she loved Yuzu's programs and was inspired by it (how many of us have discovered new music thanks to FS programs? it happens to skaters, too). So not a big deal. Not worth mentioning. I'm not in Misha's mind nor I know if he has received many comments about NS being Yuzu's song (Il Volo would argue it's their song LOL they have copyright!), but refraining from backhanded hints would have been wiser IMO, and he's media-savvy enough to know that n.1 rule is: don't feed the troll And yeah, poor Javi has been dealing with much more for such a long time, Yuzu is right when calling him kind because you must be a saint to put up with all of that, plus all those questions from media... (plus having to share the limelight with someone who comes from a country where FS is so big and gives so many opportunities, while belonging to a country where FS is...not big at all)*. Such grace and patience *I often think about what Robin Cousins said, that maybe you'd wish for the two of them to have skated in different eras, instead of having to share that single spot at the top for so long, because they are both so good... but at the same time they would probably not be where they are without each other... (tho imo Yuzuru would probably have found his way somehow...but maybe he would have not been this Yuzu) Without Yuzuru in the picture, I do think Javi would have shone more, instead of being treated by certain media as 'the training mate of the one who shines' (he is a miracle in his own way, pretty much like Yuna is for Korea, having reached the top despite coming from a country without the best facilities and resources for FS). But he had to deal with such a larger-than-life existence beside him and sometimes it simply outshone him I do hope media start asking Yuzu more about Javi. Yuzuru's words paint the other half of the story and they get so much resonance, I'm sure they would make Javi proud and happy (also, they make me go soft soft)
  17. Noooo Jack why that interview??? Why Boston? For more ranting about scoring & some info&debate on rules you can give a look here Ranting about scores is typical pastime of FS fans across fandoms and disciplines and ages, as well as ranting about ISU! sadly it's part of the 'True fs experience' I always tell myself to be zen about the scoring because getting angry has 0 consequences (other than making me bitter and tired) but..well... it doesn't work (aaaaah how DARED they not give a single full +3 to historic WR H&L?)
  18. Tbh, more than for his backside I'm worried for his ankle He's learned how to fall, but that poor ankle would be hit hard even with a perfect landing. I don't even want to think about a a landing like that in his WTTpratice 4Lz (wait, now I'm thinking ). And I'm also worried about risks like head injuries (the risk of 4A discouraged even Yagudin when he tried all the quads back in his days). Of course the harness would keep Yuzuru safe&sound, but I think he might be already past the harness training with 4A... Sidenote&offtopic:
  19. hey I'm just trying not to lose my hair not to get too hyped here
  20. they're collecting material for their Nessie documentary idk, on one side I feel Yuzuru has already more than he lets on (and more than Brian lets on too)... on the other, I just think he simply hasn't had enough time this summer to seriously train a Nessie good enough to attempt it in front of media...maybe he says he wants to try it this season just to pressure himself into getting his Nessie (beautiful and fully rotated, not like the other Nessie attempts we've seen). He's already pressured himself into grabbing the 2nd OGM, so it wouldn't surprise me 😅 but I like his approach, so meditated, almost clinical...to get more height, more speed, delaying his 3A a bit to make room for another rotation without losing his consistency on it... (I recall that skaters tend to rotate at the same speed even when they could be faster, they unconsciously re-adjust to slow down, so I suppose that's part of the challenge too...) I'm glad it looks like his 3A is getting even more amazing in the process I love how powerful his step up into the jump looks in slow mo I wonder if the other skaters training 4A are using the same cerebral approach or are just throwing themselves into that relying only on instincts and luck (I suppose that's what younger skaters do and why they can learn to add rotations more easily, they are fearless and their brain doesn't kick in screaming STOP!). As this approach is potentially more dangerous, it is a bit reassuring that Yuzuru is putting so much thought into his quest (and image training before PC worked quite neatly)
  21. posting this because feels scenes form CiONTU (so many beaming Yuzus!) & open practice, bg music is Never enough from the Greatest showman (I love that soundtrack but now everytime I listen to it I am reminded of both OWG gala and Denis' last show ugh...so bittersweet)
  22. I love this quote. That's why he's chosen to call his FS 'Origin', focusing more on what the music means to him, in his life, rather than on what it originally portrayed Imagine wanting to skate to a music so badly, for so long, but it was off-limits for so many years (and in the meantime he gave us some other gems), but now he finally feels he can skate to those pieces and he got his idols' blessing on top of that I like that his last 3 free programs all have such beautiful and iconic titles! Isn't it a beautiful journey, from SEIMEI (it can mean also life iirc?) to Hope and Legacy to Origin... what's next uh? Ahh, I shouldn't be greedy, I haven't even seen whole Origin yet, but I want moar! ETA: LOL true. It reminds me of when we were guessing (hoping?) for some black&red SEIMEI and we got..well, quite the opposite (but of course sparkles will never betray us!)
