  1. just to clarify, the part about maybe hoping to grab judges' attention (and get more generous pcs) was my own speculation from the phrasing in the article, where they only said "smartly riding the wave" of the success of the film. I think usually it's what skaters hope, to skate to music that judges are familiar with so judges can get into the program more easily (and unconsciously award more generous scores). This season it's clearly happening with the deluge of The greatest showman programs but both Rolling Stones and Queen are widely popular on their own, so IMO that a movie has recently been very successful won't change that much judges' or people's propensity to enjoy a Queen medley... though Queen albums are selling really well again so who knows, maybe there could still be some revival effect asfaik Matteo hasn't explained the reason for the abrupt change... I can only think he wasn't feeling connected with his previous program, but I am worried it's a bit late for a change and I don't think the Nats performance was so tragic that something this drastic was necessary (contrary e.g. with what happended with Zhenya's SP this season) Aljona&Bruno also changed SP mid-Olympic season because Bruno didn't felt comfortable but they merely went back to their trusted program from the season before. I hope it will work out well for Matteo agreed about medleys, they often feel disjointed, with little internal choerence and purpose. Though...now I think about it Michal's FS both last season and this one splice together several songs all the same but I have no issue...weird also, I've just realized I've watched only a few of Michal's programs and I need to do some serious catch up also, I didn't know his SP last season was not a second but a third peat (if his wiki is right)
  2. Signed I hope it can help ...............................why? I'm not sure I understand the move...to aim for top 5, against 3 russian guys + Javi and Morisi and Kevin Aymoz etc he needs to be clean and probably also land his quad, and I don't see how debuting a completely new program can help with any of that of course the quad guys can bomb (as we've seen in the gp) but usually one doesn't bet on that.... that said, I wasn't particularly fond of his fs, maybe I'll like this new program more... /quote (can't find the quote function on mobile)/ cavalcando intelligentemente l’onda mediatica dettata dal successo del film sulla vita di Freddy Mercury campione d’incassi nelle sale cinematografiche di tutto il mondo. /end quote/ I don't see why it would be smart to change the FS between Nats in december and Euros in january just because there is a successful movie...yes it can maybe help with judges for pcs (tho it's not like the previous medley was of some unknown songs, so it's imo debatable that judges could be more impressed, and for the same reason I don't expect a hugely different response from audience, as both free skates use widely popular songs anyway)... but I don't think a boost in pcs can be comparabile with quads....unless suddenly he gets 90 but I don't see how, given how things work for pcs... Idk, was the fs giving him particular issues? I don't think so, he was skating quite well, he has even landed the quad at Nats... Also... Matteo really loves medley, doesn't he? Is he planning to cover all famous bands, a medley at a time? ETA: I am still doubtful Daniel can go above a clean Matteo at Euros, yes he has bv but he's considered and scored as a junior skater from a "minor" fed and jgp international panels were quite stingy with him... I think even at Nats a completely clean Matteo would have been placed above. So I really don't understand his move. But, well, Matteo is the one who has to skate the program, not me, so whatever works for him ETA2: ok checking ISU PB Daniel has 3 points more than Matteo but Matteo had 1 fall and two pops (though it was LT whops) and Daniel was almost clean (one UR) when he got his pb... the weirdest thing was seeing Boyang's score is lower than theirs whoa poor Boyang
  3. Mmmh I wasn't expecting Shoma to have another comp between 4CC and worlds but iat least it looks like he'll be fully recovered. in the past doing a lot of comp did good to him so at least a busy schedule is no reason to worry Tbh I'm more worried about Rika whops flying across continents no stop and competing and her media obligations are on the rise too I'm not worried about her yrsining time and maybe she is one of those skaters who don't like to lose the competition feeling...still worried tho Yay for Sota and wakababy! But she needs to be completely recovered I hope Sara Honda will be assigned somewhere too
  4. I'm really sad for Loena.... especially because of the reason, it sounds like some serious problem I hope she'll be healthy enough to resume training and go to Worlds Euro ladies fight for podium doesn't look too thrilling at the moment, I think I'll root for Sofia + Alexia to have stong skates... weird that Men's field looks deeper at the moment, with multiple medal contenders, with (i think) similar BV and GOE and PCS potential (of course if Javi can land his stuff I expect him to have a comfortable lead but I don't want to take anything for granted and the rest of the podium is wiiiiiiide open)... I'm mainly rootin for Javi to be able to say goodbye to competitions in the best way (tho ngl I'd celebrate a Misha European Champion too) and that Michal, Misha and Kevin will do well. Tho I feel Kovtun might be the biggest surprise (or maybe not so big, given two consecutive strong results). I still can't bring myself to root for him (sadly his SP is exactly the type of program that makes me majorly zone out the FS is a bit better for me, despite the Carmen conspiracy from russian skaters this season) I think the Pairs field is gonna be interesting with T/M vs J/C (I'm really sad that Z/E had to WD tho, I've developed a huge soft spot for their weird dramatic programs and I'll miss them a lot) and ID will be P/C vs Russian teams... crossing fingers for S/B to get the levels and a nice medal...I suppose the fight will be for silver and bronze but don't want to jinx P/C as I've jinxed them in the GPFinal predictions what has this season done to me? I guess 4CC will more lit for ladies and maybe a bit less for men (I guess it's gonna be like last season Boyang vs Shoma and apparently Shoma's pattern in previous 4CCs would see him finlly getting gold, thus breaking his major-comps-silver curse tho two times 4cc champion Boyang Jin has a nice sound too WAIT maybe Keegan will go too...? WAIT JUNHWAN COULD GO THERE too? gotta check the korean skaters thread kinda forgot there are other Nats after JpnNats and RusNats ended oh whoa US Nats and Canadian nats still have to happen too... ok then I take back what I've said about men being less lit. And of course Kazuki will skate there so while I'll not hold my breath for a medal I'll root extra hard for him Looking forward to all Chinese pairs and I expect also Ryom/Kim who hopefully won't be robbed... and hopefully many strong contenders in ID too... I guess the strongest teams will be from USA but maybe G/P will go there too...I'd LOVE any competition with both C/B and G/P Ok it definitely looks like 4CC will be the competition I'll look forward the most this time well of course Worlds is the competition I really truly look forward to the most, but tbh every competition where Yuzuru is able to show up is the comp I look forward the most regardless of the rest of the fields edited for wistful thinking I has forgotten Sota was only a substitute for 4CC
  5. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy but also PLZ BE HEALTHY YUZU SKATING GODS PLZ LET HIM BE HEALTHY so he can accomplish all he wants I'm so grateful he has the will to go on but I'd hate if it meant another serious injury and more difficult months of rehab 😖 I just want a happy Yuzu enjoying training and having fun in practices and competitions like we've seen this season up to that bad fall In other news, I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes too up for TurinGPF (because we've seen over and over again anything can happen) while preparing myself for ticket battle I won't lose (As for the leaked video, I'm half sad I haven't watched it and half relieved it was taken down. I'm gonna trust your word that Zuzu looked good. Crossing fingers that he can also recover his jumps smoothly and without feeling pain I hope Yuzuru can will his health into existence in the same way he willed his OGM into existance, after all he wouldn't be able to keep competing another season and landing a Nessie if he isn't healthy...)
  6. Do you know what I love the most about the 2nd pic aside that big, big smile and THAT ARM and the general gorgeousness of our sakura fairy? all those people beaming fondly in the background ETA: iirc it was in a jpn program (with explanatory animation added LOL other satellites with better memory and archiving skills will be more helpful than me about this) Yuzuru said he does image training (at night?) and one time he knocked a lamp.... his mom scolds him because of the noises ETA2: hey I hadn't noticed you've joined the Planet recently, welcome welcome also awesome name for a satellite
  7. I'm not crying, I'm not...😭😭😭 The first pic of 24 years old Yuzu is Yuzu being a literal sunshine in happyTCCfamily pics shallow comment but where did it go Javi's Reebok look tho?
  8. A lot will depend on who will be on WC podium too(and 4-6). Of course one can make an educated guess but I don't want to jinx anyone, especially with all the injuries around Besides, I think that if fed has to choose between Yuzu and Shoma at nhk, it's still quite likely Shoma could go, as traditionally the national champion gets it, tho there were exceptions like NHK13 and NHK17...tho I'm not sure if in 2013 it was Yuzu's request, too, to be sent head to head against Patrick, or fed just decided to have Dai (the biggest star back then) to draw audience...iirc Yuzu said he wanted to compete with Patrick, but maybe both reasons played a role and in the end all sides were happy with the assignments... As a selfish fanyu, and sorry jpn fans, if Zuzu will be competing in next season gp I'll root for SC+COR because good ice (cough IDF cough) and FANCAMSSSSSS!🤤🤤🤤 FANCAMS OF PRACTICES! FANCAMS OF COMPETITIONS! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 FANCAMSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! Sob the only remaining comps Yuzu can attend this season don't allow fancams well I hope everything goes well and at least jpn media give us all the Yuzu fluff we deserve even better if with a beaming Zu
  9. I'm so happy 😭 literally the closest I've ever been to a comp location, the easiest to reach for me😭😭😭😭 No matter who'll be there, I'll gun for tickets. And of course in a (huge) corner of my heart I'm already starting to pray for a certain trollzuzu to be there plz plz plz it would also mean he's healthy plz plz plz ouch my anxious waiting for tickets bloodbaths starts so early tho
  10. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of the satellites&your loved ones! And HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YUZU!!! May his 2019 be injury-free and full of light and laughters and joy May he be the best version of himself and accomplish everything he sets out to do
  11. noooooooooooooo now I miss twizzle sandwich again those evil judges!!! and still they didn't give him a teeny-tiny +5 for that huge counter 3A nooooooooooooooo now I've remembered the twizzle entry into spin and I miss that too Yuzu heal well, I'll gladly accept to sacrifice all the twizzle sandwiches just to see you skate again with a smile on your face Ok, these are definitely emo hours for me maybe 'cause yesterday I've also rewatched the holy trilogy Requiem-Swan-HYK, sorry for the not productive post I think Plushenko dropped it at 23, tho I'm not sure why I believe so whops (or maybe 22? I feel he was older than 21, idk why I feel so adamant about this tho) has this tweet been shared? Please read the whole thread, many interesting info on metals and specifically OWG medals!
  12. Awwwww I hoped for Zuzu content and I got it 😭😭😭 so happy! from comments it looks like I'll be when complete translation will be out tho Tho is the part about 4A really recent? Really really? I need to know if I need to go while being at Yuzu saying out loud he'd like to compete one more season
  13. After only a little more than one month without new Yuzuru footage I'm going through the phase: is he real? For real? Spring feels so far away now, but we know it will come I'm amazed at how fitting Yuzuru's programs always are...I hoped we could be spared the literal "waiting for spring to come" this season, but... I like to think that Haru Yo Koi is helping Yuzu in keeping hope and faith during these months and I hope he'll be spared further injuries and drama for the remaining of the skating season (and possibly for following seasons too) Also, as a selfish fanyu, I hope we can have some new Yuzu content in any form before March LOL. But of course the only thing that truly matters is that Yuzuru can be healthy and happy. anyway Merry Christmas to all the satellites who celebrate and happy holidays to everyone! (and if there are unlucky satellites not on holidays on these days happy days all the same!) happy holidays to Yuzuru too, I hope he's treating himself nice things and spending quality days with his family and loved ones I also hope he is steadily on his way to recovery and that in these days he gets to skate, without pain, even if only a few stroking exercises thanks for the holidays banner! It looks so awesome and calming and heartwarming to have a smiley hakama!Yuzu greeting you when you open the Planet also, awwwww cute Shun trying to keep up with origin choreo, the boy looked kuyashii by the end, really in character with his senpai well, I look forward to how Shun will grow too
  14. Well, he already has the goods, I can see him having a future in korean entertainment industry too. He's already debuted as an actor too (and maybe ad a model too?), so I believe he won't have to worry about what to do after amateur skating(though hopefully he has many many years of competitions and ice shows ahead). I feel lucky that he's chosen figure skating for now, a field full of hardships in exchange for little 'material' reward (and he has also to deal with a not-the-most-supportive fed)
  15. LOL that Mura pic... daddy Mura is wilding! And uncle Kurt is awesome I can't get into many of his programs because usually his programs are exactly the genres I don't feel, but his skills in those steps I highkey want to see Zuzu showing off his skillz like that too... ok, I admit HILY is not up there among my fave Yuzu programs but I'd love another Kurt choreo to challenge him also, I miss rockstar!Zu too, I don't want to see that come out only in ice show gorup numbers and demon-lypsynching rinkside re: the Kozuka thing
  16. the news of Yuzuru's WD didn't even made me sad when I read them, I was just expecting them...but then I thought about Yuzuru being sad and that made me really sad I hope he's receiving many warm hugs and many smiles, that he's listening to the music with new earphones and drinking his fave hot chocolate concotion. I hope he also feels the well wishes and support from skating community and fans I bet he's back to research some more I want him to fullfill all his dream and yes, the very idea of 4A in this moment is scariest than ever, but if it's still part of his happiness than I hope he can go and grab that dream with both hands (and healthy ankles ). Maybe this forced period of rest will also gave him some fresh perspective on how to tackle the jump... I hate the very idea of Yuzuru being forcefully kept away from skating, and I hate that again he has to go through the whole rehab and then slowly, painfully re-learn everything again... I hate that that injury happened just when he was finally back jumping beautiful 3Lz. But well... as Brian said, if anyone can come back, it's Yuzuru. As always things are against him but he has the experience, the will and the support. I hope I can see him stepping on the ice again soon, because it will mean he's at least a bit happy I still feel the relief and deep gratitude watching Yuzu again on the ice, on the day of the first olympic practice (yeah, the troll practice). He was joking rinkside and then he greeted the ice and stepped in. It was the first time we saw him on the ice since NHK17. After all those month of uncertainties and what ifs, Yuzuru was there.* I remember being so overwhelmed I couldn't stop the tears. The memory is even sweeter now, knowing that was just the prelude to Yuzuru's triumph in PyeongChang. And, in hindsight, maybe that was also the turning moment for me when, despite still feeling anxious, my feelings somehow calmed down, as if just that moment was a promise: it's going to be all right. So when I feel doubt, I just go back to that moment, I think about what Yuzuru has overcome. He has another painful battle ahead, and he'll be fighting it mostly away from our eyes, so in the meanwhile all I can do is believe in him and sent all the virtual support, waiting to tell him 'welcome back' once more! oh, and ready to greet his jumps back one by one too and swoon about the awesomeness of ___________insert any of Yuzu's jumps/spins/steps/moves and general everything here_______ tho hopefully this time when he'll say: "I feel no pain" it won't be because he's on painkillers Sorry the last sentence ruined the mood * I'm pretty sure everyone has already seen this fanvid many times, but that moment always gets to me
  17. Yuzu missing Javi... this was NOT the kind of content I askef for also, I've found this interview floating on twitter not recent but just translated. thanks ot nanoka for translating http://nanoka12.tumblr.com/post/181049525431/exclusive-photos-and-long-interview-in-kiss ETA: I suppose I should stop trying to quote all the bits that I loved, I'd quote the whole thing ETA2: apparently I can't help myself, I swear it's the last quote
  18. Now gotta keep the post on topic.......... I miss Yuzu Soon it will be a month since we last saw him I hope in an update soon....no documentaries or CM scheduled? I could do with some more Hotto Ghana
  19. true, all top athletes need a huge amount of dedication and efforts to reach... well, the top Personally, tho I'm usually more inclined to celebrate the achievements in niche sports, not because basketball or baseball players (or football players I often complain about LOL) are less amazing in their field or as human beings, but merely because they already get enough recognition for that (AND money, too)... so it's nice when things like this ESPN list bring to people's attention the amazing achievements in sports that get less exposure I'm not a sport person myself and I ignored many of those names or I had only 'heard' but not paid particular attention to them, it's nice to know there are so many driven and exceptional people around the world, each of them doing their best and challenging new things And I'm very, very proud that Yuzuru, an asian male figure skater, made to that list. I've read the criterions they used and I bet that being the first in 66 years to win 2 OGM + his wins by a huge margin in November weighted a lot. Figure skating doesn't have as many big competitions and chances for medals as some other sports, so just 'counting' medals and titles it can look Yuzuru isn't as 'dominant' as some of the other people listed, but things like 'being the first in 66 years' gives a huge historical perspective on how difficult and rare is to be a 'Yuzuru Hanyu' in a sport like figure skating... @SuperMin others already replied, but anyway I understand sometimes it can be annoying to see people rushing to find "the next big thing", especially when the current "big thing" is still competing and it doesn't look like he's willing to relent his gold medals and his records easily but think about that like this: skaters don't just come to exist. They don't happen in a void. Figure skating is a beautiful journey that started more than a century ago and underwent so many changes, challenges and evolution and each new generation has brough something new and different and worth and left their legacy for the next generation. So it doesn't matter if one day there will be a 9-times World Champion and 3-times OGM hailed as 'the GOAT', it won't cancel nor diminish what Yuzuru is and has done for the sport, just like Yuzuru hasn't erased the legacy of FS pioneers like Ulrich Salchow or innovators like Dick Button or legends like Yagudin and Plushenko and the legacy of skaters like Johnny Weir or Jeff Buttle, who may be less titled than the big names but still have brought something special and unique to the sport. All those years and decades of legacy are in Yuzuru's skating, and he's used that as his foundations. Now he has built and is still building his own legacy, and new skaters ---starting even from his current rivals like Boyang, russian ladies (under the guidance of fanyu Daniil LOL), JunHwan, Stephen (and, who knows, maybe little Vadim Voronov and Sasha Plushenko, too, one day) will be challenged and inspired by Yuzuru and will build their own skating legacy thanks to Yuzu too hey isn't the lady in the first pic the POTO lady?* I remember her performance was posted in this thread a while ago, I have the video saved it was so lovely but also so scary This videos are amazing too, unicyclists can do such amazing things! More knowledge I've acquired thanks to Yuzu *ETA: maybe not, the costume is similar but not the same imagine being greeted by a giant pic of smiley&soft HYK Yuzu waiting for you with arms wide open....best welcome ever
  20. ok I already knew this... and it makes me even more salty than the pcs and jump GOE analysis, so I'm really trying hard not to go there....AND FAILING AAAAAAARGHHHHHH WHY WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH JUDGES Jason and Yuzu should be first and by a lot and argh if not even in a the second WR Otonal stsq could get all +5 (it even got some +3!!!) GOE are cancelled
  21. I think I've buried myself with this round of predicitions but considering some of my non-predicted medals include Rika's and Alyona's and J/C's gold, Peng/Jin's silver and JunHwan's and Koshiro's bronze I'm good (sad for Satton tho, and with Kaori's and Satton's placements I've got the bonus question wrong too I think I've got all bonus questions wrong tbh) I think I've only got completely right top two jr Men not one podium right, not even just the names with wrong placements, nope! It would have been too easy! Wrong names AND wrong placements... utter disaster It looks like the skating gods exacted their tribute for Rika and Alyona
  22. for how much it saddens my fanyu heart to see those scores for ACI (especially SS and TR and especially for the SP) it makes me kinda glad that no blatant inflation can be claimed when he doesn't perform at his best tho if I start to compare the marks with the actual programs for all the skaters I might get salty, and not only on Yuzuru's behalf, so let's not go there LOL Kaerb's analysis of the poster composition
  23. @sallycinnamon if you need it I kinda managed to upload the CIONTU day 2 cut here and for me it finally says it can be streamed It's 12 minutes long. There's only a glitch during MI (it was in the original file) but it's brief sorry for not top quality (and yet the file is big...I really don't know how to encode efficiently) (edited the link for dumbness in linking)
  24. I'd be in for a 3h marathon too, as I want to stay up for Jr ID FD anyway, that would start like 2h45' after the start of our streaming party (+ a few minutes if we also count the 6 minutes warm up)
