  1. the combo of the Notte stellata project and of the Be the light photobook makes me the Notte stellata merch is so unique and thoughtfully-made, the idea of offering these kind of useful (and emergency-useful) products instead of usual things like keyholders and such is so lovely, and very fitting for the theme (also, awwww the overload of cuteness from the logo!) And the choice of "be the light" as title for the new photobook! it's interesting that "Be the light" is also the title of one of Yuzu's fave songs by one of his fave bands... here the tweet from the person who made a lovely fanvid with the song, using footage from Yuzu's EX programs related to the earthquake The fanvid had been already linked in this chat a few(thousands of)pages ago, and since then it became one of my fave fanvids, when I read the title of the new photobook, I was immediately reminded of it The song is lovely - and I must say that this year especially I replayed it a lot. Look, it was back at page 600, the Planet was still a bb back then! I miss Yuzu more than ever, but these two projects kind of "conjure" his warm presence, as if our fave MIA space kitten was gently putting a warm blanket around us poor Yuzu-deprived cacti and telling us: be strong! this is how I imagine us & Yuzu rn: (still, Zuzu please appear! new content featuring current you would be very appreciated!) I'm super excited for tomorrow's streaming party! I'll keep tissues ready... also, yay, Asaichi!
  2. thank you for the hard work! It looks like a great idea (and I find the visual "alert" useful even when merely reading through the general chat)
  3. ok, time for my (kinda?)official CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR GRADUATION, YUZURU!!!!!!!!!!! well, I certainly hope he'll talk more about all of this and his thesis and his "program", so we can properly study it (some 1h long special would be lovely... jk! or not...) So, he really managed to ninja his graduation uh... not unexpected, he got to enjoy the moment and achievement with his loved ones, and that's what matters So, now he's probably focusing his time an energy on his NEW programs, right? Stay safe, Yuzu, but feel free to drop an hint or two about music/programs/your whole thesis/whatever let the guy have fun!
  4. Rus fed is so dumb they are risking the health of their better ID team (the one that can truly treat P/C on international stage) in a completely unnecessary domestic comp... Vika could have been resting her knee and then slowly preparing for Nats, but no, she had to take part in previous stage and made her knee worse and now she has to rush again just because rusfed was so short-sighted that they couldn't forsee such a situation... (I still believe that they would find a way to "save" S/K if they truly can't make it to their next stage, but the mere fact that Vika is busting her knee to try and skate there is so maddening!)
  5. yeah, that's a big reason (though one would expect that experts were able to spot at least the most glaring examples even without a slow mo)... and it's twice a stupid rule when you think that F and Lz are jumps with the least "natural" PR (hence, jumps where a forward take off is a particularly egregious flaw) and tech panel are already allowed to use slow mo on their take off to check the correct edge. It's not like allowing panels to check two things at once (edge and PR) would take that much additional time... but alas! On the other hand, panels can't get edges right even with slow mo, so it's possible it probably wouldn't change things much. Multiple camera angles and more technology would solve so many problems, but there's lack of will to make scoring less subjective (there's lack of funds too, but ISU is not even trying) FS is so weird, they want to make you accept the craziest scoring because it's hard and poor judges are only human, but when you point out that technology could help those poor judges and take part of their burden away... crickets
  6. AHHHHHH I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!! LOL just this little piece of news makes this whole month better! It isn't even that big of a surprise but it feels soooo good to have half confirmation, it kinda makes the hope of seeing Yuzu skating in the near(near as in this season) future a little bit more real Real stuff to look forward too!!!thank you Jeff!!! for both the program and the tiny tiny spoiler Not that the tiny hint he dropped tells much htough at least we could cross out Otonal 3.0 maybe? What if it's a Javi tribute? Well, I'm sure I'd never guess it anyway, but throwing around Queen again LOL I wonder if it's something in the vein of LGC or something else entirely but Jeff finished choreo only recently? Wow that's surprising to me, Yuzu is surely taking it slow LOL (not that he had need to rush, with his thesis and this season being a mess anyway)... Zuzu, if you don't want to drop WhiteWall vids anymore, feel free to drop vids of your BlackBlades on White Ice instead, possibly with backgorund music (so we can lose our minds trying to guess if it's your new music) loved what Jeff had to say about Yuzu's PW and how he performs for all sides of the rink! So very true! And even if live I was still watching his programs from the long side (though opposite to the judges, and indeed I remember feeling annoyed at how some programs blatantly neglected my side), fancams taken from the short sides are always so good, sometimes you can appreciate his ice coverage even better! Anyway, I'm a revived happy cactus now, and this wasn't even a proper watering by the overlord himself.... (watching the vid I was lowkey amused at how fandom uses PW and LGC and instantly knows what we talk about but the poor host was a bit at a loss oops) ETA: now I'm thinking about the Asaichi2015 part2 - terrarium segment that we have been subbing for our streaming parties @Umebachi@yuzuonice This is what the lady says about us Yuzu fans cacti: "We only need to spray water occasionally using a spray bottle. Spray occasionally when you notice the surface becoming dry and white" (LMAO that's us! Jeff too mercy on us!) "Then you can leave it alone. [..]Since this baby (plant) has grown in this environment, it should be well acclimatized to grow in this condition. You can rest easy knowing that it will grow strongly, even when you are away (training)." I'd say us cacti just got one gentle spray of water...
  7. honestly, good riddance! The very idea of IdF happening made me so angry, so I'm glad finally someone (not ISU, obviously) got their good sense back Now I won't have to worry about skaters crossing all over Europe (and an ocean) risking their health for a half-baked GP... I'm not expecting any more cancellations. CoC is gonna be by far the safest event, and officially things in Japan aren't as bad as in France so I don't think that JSF is even imagining about cancelling NHK (though I hope they'd consider at least no audience). I never had much expectations about RC and Scam oops Skam.. they will also be the worst in terms of sh*t scoring anyway so I'm just gonna spare myself an headache and happily skip those two events entirely DON'T EVEN JOKE ABOUT THIS! And the combo of SCgold&4CCgold resulted in an entire WC cancellation + SC2020 & 4CC21 cancellation, with a bonus of IDF cancellation... I declare that such an unprecedented amount of bad luck balances several SC&4CC golds
  8. THANK YOU Canada for being sensible! I can't even bring myself to feel sorry for skaters missing on an oppurtunity, this will be for their safety too. What I am sorry about is that situation is that serious. It would have been better if ISU had given up on having a traditional GP and gone instead for digital no-stakes* GP (or heck, even just a weekly iceshow) open to as many skaters as possible *(till the issue of standard equipment, camera angles and such for filming won't be solved, I'll laugh at the idea of virtual comps counting for anything more than training and entertainment. There must be at least an attempt at fairness when scoring and ranking the skates). Instead they wasted time and sources and held a thousands meetings to find a way to make live-GPseries happen. Hoping this is their wake up call to focus on solutions to safely hold the big comps in latter half of the season (WC is nevet gona be cancelled since it's in Sweden, at worst it will be held without audience but even that is doubtful. One can only hope that March 2021 will be better than March2020 worldwide) Speaking of latter half of the season: NEGL, I was surprised tickets were still even a possibility. Are they sure they don't want to cancel the whole comp directly? 'cause it doesn't look like an international comp will be possible anytime soon in Australia (especially not one of FS, which isn't exactly the most popular sport in Australia or in the world, and for sure not as rich as, say, tennis or F1, so it holds no sway over politicians and authorities)
  9. actually, in the last (several) minutes I've been engaging in a fierce battle with some Shoma fans out there - and I've been losing, 'cause percentage is now below that (and lowering at quite an alarming pace, considering how many rounds of voting it takes to change a mere 0.1) but I gotta go to sleep, so leaving the task to whoever has the patience to open new private browsing tabs
  10. but also IMO, better no Alexa than a traitorous Alexa :P the comment about his warm up routine might come from some feature about his PyeongChang warm up? For sure TV commentators were rather WTF at Yuzu's exercises A good moment to re-read the translation of Kikuchi's book, PyeongChang chapter <3 https://yuzusorbet.tumblr.com/post/630328400852271105/continuing-kikuchi-senseis-book-strongly#notes
  11. So very sorry about Rylov's mother :(
  12. Uh, it will be weird to see a figure based on 2014 Zu wearing more recent costumes...especially the most tight ones... Yuzu did bulk up It would be especially funny to see LGC LMAO no way the PPOS would look as good on that model as on the real Zu (Speaking of bulking up and PPOS, I still wonder how on earth the people in the tv studio could keep a straight face, that one time that they were....comparing... certain muscles...while staring at at a huge pic of Yuzu in PPOS) anyway, to sweeter things: Lae translated some bits of the new special about IceJewel photobooks <3 So precious! and in this special there are some unexpected reference to the trashbag pants, too welcome!!!
  13. Kurakova WD from SC :/ when giving out assignments, ISU really didn't bother with being up-to-date on borders matters, did they?
  14. So, Stephen WD from SA :/ given his training location, it's possible it has to do with his physical condition/preparedness more than anything else (I'm assuming he's there with Raf right now, if not, I'd be kind of relieved, it would mean I should have to worry less about his current condition) also linking to this post-JWC interview
  15. I wouldn't be so negative so early. I would have been more than happy if Rika had been able to follow her initial plan and go at TCC, where she would have had Ghislain as specialist and better live examples of quads (it's not like Shoma's 4sal has been much more rotated than hers thus far, sorrynotsorry). But one can hardly fault Rika for for the turn of events. We don't know the behind the scenes with Hamada, and while under her Rika could get all her triples, including a reliable 3A, Hamada has no no-URmagic anyway. With 4S Rika looks about where she was before going to Champery (and I hope she's not gonna chance any -3Lo combo). She has on her side a very solid technique and focus and a systematical attitude to anything skating. I really can't fault her plans till now. Last season the injury that prevented her from doing 3Lz and slowed her down with the quad training too, but she's grown in other things. If she wanted to be in a more challenging environment than what she had, going abroad was a good plan, but she can't wait forever for Canada to open those borders, and god forbid she went to Raf. Russia probably wasn't an option anyway (and I wouldn't even want her there). Champery was the only viable option, other than stay where she was. She still has things she can improve on, working with Lambiel, though she might not improve on her jumps (I do think that without upgrading her jump layout her chances of beating russiaflation are slim, and improving one'sSS or expression is of little use when it comes to scoring). But there's no reason yet to believe she's lost what she brought there. Among all jpn ladies, Rika is the one I'd trust the most when it comes to making sensible long-term plans. Let's wait at least till we see her in both practice and comp at IdF before spelling doom for her.
  16. LOLsob, nevermind my correction. but also what are they waiting to decide in one sense of the other?
  17. mmh... I disagree about Nate knowing that he needs another quad. So if Nate is planning to bring back 4Lo it probably has little to do with what he needs and more to do with what he wants. But I dont' even try and predict his layout, it's definitely way too early for that. I was so sure he was working on having a consistent 2nd 3A last season, in combo, and for potential backloading, and yet he was ready to drop it to go back to a more trusted 1x3A in first half when it mattered. Not that it was a wrong move, since it brought him another WR, and it still gave him huge BV without even repeating or backloading 4F and 4Lz, all thing he could potentially do. ETA: and the BV change of 4Lo was (not surprisingly) scrapped away, so nothing really changed compared to last season (I don't buy the reasons for ISU taking that change back, pretty sure that if american or russian man had had consistent 4Lo they would have had no whatsoever trouble keeping at least the BV change for 4Lo). 4Lo is still the quad with worst risk/benefit ratio (after, of course, Nessie).
  18. Quoting myself because it looks like she's still scheduled to be at stage2 I thought she'd try for later stages, to have more time to recover and train...
  19. do you mean as change of assignments to Cup of Russia stages? Well, for sure some skaters pulled out of second stage, like T/M (since Morozov was recovering form covid) and I guess Zhenya Medvedeva, but they are going to attend later stages. Artur Danielan and S/K were among those who in early September were said were getting treatment for injuries/pain, and I think last update was that S/K were back training and I don't remember announcements about them pulling out of stage2 (then again, I might have lost them in the deluge of updates we got form Russian FS). It was just announced Artur WD Plus, Samarin is scheduled for stage 2 too, but he had WD from stage 1, so...idk Afaik assignments can always change, it also happened other seasons, it's not as strict as, say, GPseries.
  20. LOL nevermind, it was just IFS rushing for a scoop when there was no scoop. Grenoble arena wasn't closed to to covid measures, but for works (and till Oct 18th) hopefully the *works* are also done to better accomodate logistics of holding a comp with proper measure in places for the health of skaters staff and audience.
  21. There's all the time for Grenoble rink to reopen, so I'm not holding my breath for cancellation. Though I do hope that, if it reopens in time for IDF, they won't have audience. In a month from now France might as well be in a declining phase, but it's Fall and there's little reason to think that once this wave passes there isn't another one just brewing under the surface. The picture we have on any certain day is always unavoidably delayed (of a few days if one's lucky, weeks at worst) compared to the actual situation on the day. Again, Europe managed to get second wave in summer, when usually respiratory diseases slow down a lot due to the obvious changes in daily habits. One can only hope that people will be less forgetul during autumn than they were during summer, but hoping for people's good sense isn't always the best course of action. Second wave has been much less deadly, and a lot of that is due to much better tracking and preparedness (hence, earlier monitoring and treatment) and median age of cases being much lower... but if tracking can't keep its efficiency it will get worse. Honestly, whole GP series feels like willfully fighting against a storm. It's wearing me out, and I don't even plan on following it! The justification to ISU hanging onto GPs is that it's for skaters' sake... how the heck do they think are the IdF skaters feeling now? Not even one week after assignments were published? They're again facing doubt and uncertainty because of an entirely predictable development.
  22. I'm so glad that the Planet is back!! (even if it's a bit unsettlig that it looks both familiar and not LOL) while it was down I was really feeling like this: I mean, there's twitter and other places, but it's just not the same thank you so much admins for all the hard work behind the scenes to keep this place running and lovely yep, he did some preparatory axels (the long prep was the hint that he wasn't gonna practice 3A), and he aborted the attempt or popped whenever he didn't felt conditions were right. Also, he was checking his jumping form a lot and he did a lot of pondering. You could tell he wasn't throwing reckless attempts, he was tackling it in the same sistematic way we saw him also tackle the 4Lz or 4Lo when he was having trouble with them. It was fascinating to watch, a glimpse of how he had been working on Nessie. (though yes, it was scary too) ETA: I've changed theme to the only other theme available currently and the forum already looks closer to usual just profile pics look a bit too large LOL but it's fine. I hope the other themes will come back too Also, apparently, now I can see again the share options for posts while on firefox too, yay!
  23. it looks like jpn vnp is needed? I'll try out later Happy for Wakaba's 3A! Even if landing wasn't perfect, it's a step towards building confidence in comps! I don't like Kaori's dress But I hope to see her keep being this solid! Mai-chan!!! She still looks scarily thin. Please don't overexert yourself, bb idk, it's kind of painful to see her like this... I can only hope she knows herself and that the choice to compete now (and with this layout) is truly good for her. She does sound happy...but I am so worried >_< Rika! With 4S! Ok I confess I am quite relieved to see that /meanie corner/ idk, looking at the love he's showered with by jpn media, one may truly believe he's their long lost son or something after all, Hersh might have been right about homecooking at Saitama19, only we didn't get the memo that team USA had gotten honorary domestic status... /end of the meanie corner/
