  1. since apparently some Gadbois teams will go to *their* GP, instead of going to SC all together, I fully expect them to go home for Nats too (well, of course teams like P/C could as well skip that, everyone knows they are the leading team in France, but I suppose that if Lariault/LeGac can and must go back for Nats, it would look bad if P/C didn't) The issue for the coachless skaters is real tho. Apparently, especially for TCC. I liked that TCC was such an international hub, gathering together skaters from different countries, but pandemic truly hit that model the hardest. Though there are still quite a number of skaters from other countries, it just isn't the same and it's sad that to think about Katya and Jun being coached remotely, or having to go to comps without the coaches they've come to trust UtaShin got Utana's previous dance coach. They would probably benefit more being followed by TCC specialists "live", but at leas they do have a ice time and a coach with them. idk about the level of the coaches Jun and Katya have in back in their homecountries, but I'd feel better with them both back in Canada. Yuzuru... in all honesty, I wouldn't even be surprised if he leaves TCC (temporarily or permanently). I do wonder about their current arrangements. He isn't using TCC facilities, and he isn't consulting the coaches (though we can't be sure about this. Brian said he'd been ghosted but maybe Ghislain wasn't or maybe Zuzu decided to un-ghost him after he was done with his thesis. Who knows). Anyway, from the outside it kinda looks like there's little point in him remaining a TCC member (and paying, 'cause he might have ANA and sponsors covering his expenses, but why waste money?). it's clear that in a pandemic-free world, Yuzuru likes the kind of training and coaching&support and general atmosphere (with other skaters on the ice) that he can get at TCC (plus, he has a degree of anonymity there compared to Sendai). In a pandemic world, though, staying away is actually the best option, even if it means doing everything without a coach (I still think he might get a word or two with someone in Japan. e.g. Nanami still works there and, even if she might not be the most helpful in his quest to tame Nessie, she knows him well and can surely give valuable opinions) I don't want Yuzu to leave TCC, especially for the bonds he's made there, but I wouldn't pull my hair out at the though of him leaving, 'cause actually with his experience and current situation it would even be kind of logic, all things considered ETA: thogh of course he'll wish to have *his* team by his side during oly season... maybe they were just renegotiating then or waiting to see if WC had any chance of happening... (since ISU is pushing for GPs, I guess that fom sponsors' POV it bodes "well" for WC) ok, the headcanon that Zuzu was stealing away all the sponsors from ISU was funny, but it's better for FS in general when sponsors are providing funds.
  2. not improper, just that I'd prefer her to *look* more her age. She'll have so much time to look older I kinda want to see her (and all the young girls) just enjoy what they have, you know. Even if wanting to look "older" is a natural part of growing LOL Gosh I sound nostalgic (and possibly older inside than my actual age LMAO) Let's say that the First Lady look, in general, is not my fave
  3. I think Eteri's shade was more towards Alyona than Alina. Alyona had skated the SP at test skates but WD from the FS citing her injury (reasonably so, and it would have been maybe even better not to get painkillers just so she could skate the short). So from this POV she was in similar situation to Zhenya, but they made different choices. But honestly, with Zhenya's situation, I would have much preferred for her to skip test skates, too, and get every little bit of rest/recovery she could before competition Eteri's comment about wanting to help Zhenya would sound reassuring if it came from someone who hadn't been shading her at every turn (and keeps shading other young skaters). It truly feels like Mother Gothel from Rapunzel, but with a darker twist since we're talking about real people here. Truly hope that Zhenya can somehow build a good headspace and not strain her body till the breaking point And it's sad to think that Zhenya had opened the way for russian skaters to train abroad (under non russian coaches) and then a whole pandemic came and ruined everyone's plans. Though as fan of many TCC skaters stranded away from their coaches, like Katya and Jun and Utashin,* I'm a bit at the fact that, apparently, TCC skaters are more affected that those training in Gadbois. wtf * not counting Yuzu in there, 'cause to me he's in a very different situation compared to the rest of them btw coaching drama and positive covid tests made me forget to comment on the positive surprise I got: so happy to see my wild child Anastasia!!! though now she isn't a child anymore, I suppose...she's grown so much! And she's onthe ice and doing one of her fab spins lately she had so little luck, between injuries and being out of judges' graces plus the coaching changes (and coaches trash talking her. Plushenko, I'm looking at you!). I hope she's doing well and taking care of herself, after all the hardships in these past few seasons re: Alina, glad she's busy with drama-free stuff! Probably this yuzumoticon fits her right now: Though I wish that they didn't try at all costs to make her look so much older than her age. But that was already my issue with how Shiseido packaged her
  4. yeah, that's why I was assuming they had been in USA... though afaik Florida new daily cases are shrinking, so it should be an hotspot that's "cooling down"
  5. what? where are T/M right now? Have they already travelled back to Russia? I would think yes, since Syzran starts in two days. the timing of their planned movements already felt pretty rushed and potentially unsafe to me: going back to Russia for the Syzran stage BUT not in time for test skates just a week earlier, then rushing back to USA in a hurry to attend SA... ETA: I see it's confirmed. So did they got the virus back in USA, or while travelling, or in Russia? Glad that for the moment it looks mild, but... I have questions ETA2: I'm assuming they were training in USA, if that wasn't the case, ignore my rant (though I still wanna know where Vlad can possibly have been infected)
  6. this is so funny she must feel so vindicated so this crazy 2020 also brought us a FS retelling of the story of the prodigal son...
  7. well, if she were to repeat test skates (I expect better than that, she'll not be giving up on anything in actual comp, but if she were) she'll need a further big boost ETA: in case it wasn't clear, I'm not saying she hasn't been getting big boosts all the same these past two seasons, for what she put on the ice. But I can see new narratives of "going back home" + Eteri getting her a further push that no other coach could give.
  8. ok, colour me not surprised....indeed, I'm utterly shocked it was clear that distance coaching was going to be hard, but..WUT? Thinking about it in the most detatched way I can: Zhenya was still representing that school, so, if she couldn't be in TCC, it makes sense for her to use "her" training rink, instead of being hosted somewhere else (also financially probably a more sustainable solution for her AND the fed, especially with ice shows cancelled). When she was training at Buianova's rink, I wonder if it wouldn't have been better getting ice time at Sambo, though I did wonder what other team other than Eteri could "oversee" her training I can also understand that working with people/environment she's familiar with (despite how sour things had got) can be a plus... ....but can Eteri really offer her what she needs, aside a boost in rep? With a chronic back injury, the usual training method based on repetitions can only make things worse. And I really hope she isn't getting unhealthy advices about her diet and weight I know Eteri team helped Anna (and Alina too, and for a while Polina) recover back to their best form after big injuries, but they were younger, and a chronic injury is different from a broken leg, so they've never been in this positon. Tursynbayeva iirc had struggled with back injuries during her years at TCC and yet Eteri brought her to WC medal with 4S, but then a few months later her health issues caught up with her...
  9. LMAO I remember Max saying once that Lorenzo Magri (Daniel's coach, who is also ISU tech specialist) had talked with him about Yuzu (and how great he was)., I think it was about 2012 (Nice WC maybe), so it's reasonable that Daniel got early exposure to Yuzu and became a fan LOL (Though I wish that admiration could translate into better technique, but alas)
  10. I'm especially disappointed that some fans would accept content from questionable sources (and gained with questionable behaviour, when not straigh out illicit) even if just to say "ah, he's alive". Like, we don't need to have a tabloid tell us he's alive, or show us the proof. We know he is. And we know he doesn't want to give further details, as it's in his rights. His life and the lives of his family do not belong to anyone but themselves. It's so disappointing when people who call themselves fan fall in the trap of "new content at all costs". Nope. If Zu wanna give us the Worst Drought Ever, we complain and bemoan the adverse fate and joke and wonder what he's doing, but we do respect his choice. yay!!! gosh the Sochi part is both kind of hilarious (in hindsight) and heartbreaking and moving: poor boy and poor Kikuchi, I can imagine how bad he felt for that mistake poor Kikuchi x2 poor Kikuchi x3 LOL I'm sorry this shouldn't be funny but kinda is. Or more like tragicomic nooooo poor man I imagine how much he was beating himself, since Yuzuru had got so few hours of rest Poor man, though, being suddenly thrown in such a new experience, abroad... it mus thave felt so overhelming... and yet he did it and then he's been by Yuzu's side for so long, travelling abroad and taking care of him thinking about his attendance at olyimpic closing ceremony: Kikuchi too deserved to bask in the full olympic experience. So well deserved I miss Kikuchi san, but i'm happy that now he can enjoy a quieter life at home. I hope he's taking care and maybe having a chat with Yuzu sometimes (of course staying safe and healthy). also: poor man, knowing he was being painted like some suspicious fellow by media... this is so precious last quote, I promise: Didn't Yuzuru himself use this exact word once? wondering what an izui face would like maybe this whole range? imagine if the 6000th member posted on the 6000th page? that would be truly GOAT stuff, like zuzu getting the 1000th winter OGM! an aside: I found out that searching 1000th oly gold I get loads of articles about USA getting their 1000th gold in Rio, and nothing about the 1000th OGM in the history of Winter olys (ok, 1 result, ironically by NBColy, in seocnd page of search results). Like, ok, usually Summer olys get more hype, but my petty fanyu ass is side-eyeing media so hard he certainly is, and a very famous one (or infamous, depending on who you ask). And he has been a fan since before it was cool to gush about him, and keeps being a fan even if now it's cool to gush about someone else. though
  11. he learned it all right he also learned that he doesn't even need to actually throw his shirt, a bit of teasing is just as good here's a version in 1080p but with eng sub of the commentary and have you seen WTT17 Gala? camerawork was lovely (Yuzu's shadow was so pretty! I know it sounds weird LOL), though he didn't twizzle his 3A (just a "normal" SE). There'a also a very lit LGC encore! The ice coverage and change of speed on that stsq is insane Also, the different bows for the two programs and the different final spin+pose for LGC! it was so great to see him being so hyped and blubby there at that gala! and certainly a better send off to program compared to the SP he skated there Though then he also brought LGC as encore in FaOI too... and that was truly the last time we saw him skate to LGC I so wish him he'll bring another program with that kind of energy one day, no matter if comp or EX, just something to rock the arena like that he has both the technical skills and the character to blow everyone out of the water
  12. do they? All of them? Or is it certain feds and teams having sneak peek on whatever ISU is concocting? if they know, I wanna know too!
  13. good to know! Let's hope that the inquiry will finally manage to uncover all the truth, stop abusers and send a clear signal (to the french FS establishment too) that the old ways belong ot the past
  14. weren't domestic GP assignments supposed to be out last Friday? What are they waiting for, with only 5 weeks to go? (last time I complained about ISU not posting stuff they did it almost immediately after my complain LOL, so I'm trying it again)
  15. Happy to know Cong is getting better since it looks like they're working towards Worlds (and Olys of course), I could see them skipping GP. This season especially, there's no need to rush back for GP ETA: still wondering whether COC will happen. Though at least we could be sure prevention protocols would be enforced...
  16. I'm envious now so, you got to witness that famous SP of his but I'm sure that even with just that 3A it was well worth it Ballade costumes: my fave is 1.0 at GPF14, 'cause the sheer sleeves!!!! followed by 4CC with that green hue Seimei 2.0 is THE superior Seimei costume and I WON'T hear otherwise LOL though highligher Seimei was..an interesting take And as for Origin, I screamed more(like, MORE) for 2.0 (though I screamed a lot for 1.0 too) and I love 2.0 more on its own, the colour, the look, the details, everything truly. Plus, got to see it live: so, so sparkly! And the way it has different hues on live vs on video feels like magic LOL But Origin 1.0 truly made him look like some mythological phoenix rising from the ashes Loved it, and it felt especially gorgeous in Saitama, when the phoenix imagery truly fit him (pretending nothing happened afterwards) I'm still undecided about Otonal. Maybe I prefer 1.0, for the crisscross on the back (not much for the waist line) but the details in 2.0 are gorgeous too... even when it's about a single program costumes, I can't pick a fave
  17. I am worried for her (especially because getting some painkillers injection just to skate a SP at test skate feels like an unnecessary ordeal), but she's the same person who hadn't brought 3A at test skate last season...only to go on and skate mostly clean with 3x3As for the rest of the season right now, she must recover though. Hope to find her in better condition (and with a FS finally worth of her) at russian stages
  18. these news about Alyona, Ksenia and Zhenya... guys I hate it here And Sofia skated while sick, apparently. So much for pandemic measures I don't understand why on earth risk so much on a friggin test skate... Well, in truth, I do know why Alyona and Zhenya and Sofia felt they had to be there, and it sucks And Zhenya has the earliest stages of russian cup... those plans really backfired are we truly surprised? With JGP gone, they have to build the hype for JWC and the oly season debut somehow. Plus, with Alina out and Alyona, Zhenya and Liza each having their own issues at test skates, I bet someone up there is panicking (and already counting Alyona out of top 3)
  19. thank you guys for the reports and the links! I like Kaorix second half tbh I don't remember how the cut was before, but I like very much how it is now, I just wish the start was a bit less... flat? idk For sure a 4T (a landed 4T) would left an impression, but I'm glad that she left it out this time. Am I the only one who's sad that her 3A training didn't go well? A 3A is such an asset, and it would have been a nice opening for this program too Wakaba's pops looked indeed weird, and when she got up form the 3A it kinda felt she was giving up onthe whole thing, it was good to see her bounce back in the second half. Of course this wasn't a comp, but I hope she won't let mistake on the 3A throw her off I LOVE UtaShin Also, stanning Ryoga even more
  20. I would have stanned Ryoga even just for that adorable antenna, but if you also add the cuteness, his shirt(nice!) and the opening pose... I think of those(few) skates I've watched I liked Tomoe the best. All-around lovely, and gosh, that 3-3 was so light Loving her costume too Kaori's costume instead has something off IMO, though that too goes for pastel vibes. Her program probably has the potential to make me love it, but stsq still felt quite disconnected at this early stage and there were certain sets of moves (especially at the beginning) that while lovely gave me strong déjà vu with the Piano. Hoping that it will develop well. For sure it will give a nice contrast with Kaorix ETA: her one-handed Biellman was such a lovely surprise Mana looks so grown up! (Or is it the costume playing tricks?)
  21. wow Alyona doesn't let herself be cowed by one (1) Eteri I'm all for that so it was truly a quick choice, to leave. I guess that after so many little (or not so little) things that bothered her she reached a breaking point, and with someone she trusted available somewhere else, maybe it didn't felt like a leap in the dark glad to know that she feels at ease in her new training environment (though I can't forget that with Nastya and Sima everything looked fine and dandy at first and then....) well, I wanna think that she has realized that she could have done better during Spring, that she took that lesson at heart and now she's trying not to make people underestimate the matter for real, though, the carelessness displayed in the arena by audience and everyone rinkside is appalling I truly hope that for RC ISU will have the balls to ask for more stringent measures (and when you have to count on ISU to bring some sense, it means we're truly f**ked)
  22. ok but those weren't exactly *his* costumes though yeah, they were made for him
  23. I'd love to find yuzu or yuzu-flavoured things, but till now I've only ever tasted some(very expensive, and a bit too sour)yuzu chocolates me wanna try more yuzu things but can't find them I love citrusy stuff and I put lemon kinda everywhere in my food (especially in summer dishes) so I guess I could use yuzu just as well. How thick is the peel and how juicy is the fruit? though at worst, I'd make candied yuzu peels: I love lemon, grapefruit, orange and cedar candied peels, especially with chocolate, so candied yuzu peel should be just fine but all of this is useless speculation, since I can't put my hands on any yuzu And I love golden kiwifruits! I like normal green kiwis too, but I prefer the golden ones not only for taste (and yeah, they made me think about one gold-loving spacekitten) but also because their peel is thinner and smoother. Though if I have to add kiwi to fruit salad I prefer the green variety for a nice visual effect LOL btw, Italy is actually a huge producer of kiwifruits I didn't know about red kiwis too! I'll watch out for them, I'm curious kidding I think you'll find quite a few people willing to help you dissolving the Dory costume in whatever acid of your choice (or at least that frankly terrible yellow cap) though you'll probably have to fight the Dory defense squad But if you wanna hurt beautiful deep V Swanyu or floaty Pink Jellyfish..... you'll have to fight ME which is weird. When I started falling in the Yuzu pit, I didn't really like swanyu...but it grew on me so much (might be due to gorgeous pics of swanyu so beautiful, so aethereal) that I specifically bought a magazine based on its swanyu content LOL though I admit that I don't like the "stiffness" on the back due to the zip. It depends on Yuzu's position though, so it's not like it's a flaw that I constantly see RE: pink jellyfish instead, I merely wish mesh part was a bit different, but I already kinda liked the sleeves in FaOI, when they looked like plastic bags LOL (the fact that previous costume reveal had been Dory might have shifted my perception of "beautiful costume" though). Now I truly like those sleeves, they really give you the feeling of watching sakura blossom in the wind And the brown part on his chest never really bothered me... until some of you said they resemble chest hairs sometimes I hate you guys, I wanna unsee
  24. of course it is you can pick your own personal rank, though the Yuzu-themed "official" rankings are so much fun too For example, I'm eagerly waiting to see what my next rank will be (15 posts to go!) Ngl, sometimes things might get a bit gloomy/heated in the competition threads, but we strive not to jump at each others' throat, or at skaters' throats... though we kinda rant about ISU 24/7 also, it's a Yuzu forum, so the Yuzu gushing might slip here and there in the other threads LMAO but don't worry, there's plenty of satellites absolutely in love with other skaters too I migrated to this forum basically the moment it was created and I have never regretted it...and on this Planet I've "met" most of the other skaters I like and follow now. I hope you 'll have as much fun here as I did(and do)!
  25. Imagine you're on your own, swimming, and then, suddenly, you see a smiley Wakababy happily floating around... so cute! (also, night training sessions? whoa) I like the costumes and the backstory He's gonna be a very stylish pirate Wondering when Rika plans to go back to Japan (also, curious about what's really going on in the Hamada camp...) As it was announced, she was meant to be co-coached by TCC and Hamada, but now she's looking quite comfy at Champery Still, there was no further update form her re:coaches, so I'm sticking to a prolonged training camp + choreo work instead of a permanent move, especially since Champery can offer a lot, but NOT a good jump specialist. Which IMO was one big reason for her wish to go to TCC: she'd been working very well with Ghislain (plus, in normal times she would have been able to analyse her 4S model in person) as for GP, I still expect her back for NHK. It would be only one month before Nats, so it would make all the more sense for her (and Shoma too, tbh) to go back, quarantine, be at NHK and then stay for Nats (I'm kinda...ignoring the chance of a GPF abroad between NHK and Nats)
