I understand, yet I wasn't even able to view the whole video. I must have sensitive nerves, like Mrs Bennet. ;-) Or like Fantasio in QRN over Bretzelburg. Warning : image of torture. Seen by Franquin, though. ;-)

But still those rhythm changes. I definitely cannot bear them. They may give some emphasis to an otherwise boring skate, Yuzuru Hanyu's doesn't need any, he's never boring; it just makes me angry every time they change the rhythm.

I had understood Brian Orser had been interviewed before the announcement of the cancellation, tough the interview was aired after. Such a mess, yes.

It is so moving to see their mutual respect. For Yuzuru Hanyu, Shizuka Arakawa is the skater who made the statement that Sendai was something in figure skating, who helped Sendai rink reopening after the financial problems in 2004-2006, and later after the earthquake, and his high regard is visible in his address. For her, I suppose he is, like for us, everything figure skating should be, and a hero. Both look up to the other and it is so sweet. Plus she seems to have a sense of humour, like him.

Speaking of Brian and his team, I can imagine them desperately trying to call her by all possible means and losing any spare hair... Her PR are not their job but I am sure they are concerned and must be trying to help her.

I like the GOE +5 cushion! And speaking of Kevin Aymoz, he was certainly radiant to be on the same podium as Yuzuru Hanyu.

I don't know if this is the right thread... There was an official statement as to resuming sports in France, the de-confinement starting May 11. What is clear : there will be red zones (at the moment, the North-East half of the country) and green zones, to be defined definitely next Thursday. No competition before August. In green zones, outside individual sports will be allowed with special rules (use of changing rooms, distances, no more than 100km from home). Collective and contact (= fighting) sports won't for now. High-level and professional sports people are no exception. What is unclear, because the spokesperson doesn't even bother to speak a grammatically correct French, is for inside individual sports — such as skating, as outside rinks are all melt now. The sports minister doesn't seem to have had more information. http://www.sports.gouv.fr/accueil-du-site/actualites/article/reprise-de-l-activite-sportive But they say they will publish a detailed guide soon. I hope it will be precise indeed, though most top French skaters train in US or Canada.

Then Yuzuru Hanyu must "kill" you every time he mimics a program of another skater (or other skaters). Even I tend to watch these videos repeatedly.

The eyebrows... (Remembers me a Tsiskaridze fanpage subtitle : "Eyebrowgate since 1973". Deleted since, as some don't understand joking and awe are compatible. I confess I am weak to "murderfaces" from great men.) And no matter the camera, I am endowed with a special gift of making awful videos. Or no video at all.

Well, from all this she could be advised to slow down her social media, and to read PlanetHanyu rather than her Twitter fans. She would anyway be very pleased by the appreciations about her, except in this case, but she would have been spared this situation had she followed this forum. ;-)

I tend to think he may recycle "short SEIMEI" some day, it is worthy of a recycling. Of course, he will at least do so in exhibition. But not this year. I think he will skate to two wholly new programs. And I think he has already started, with one at least. Resuming skating will be dangerous for younger skaters, but he has already had several periods without skating, it will be difficult, painful and tiresome for him too, but he will know exactly what to do for the quickest recovery, and be ready on time. (As he is not practising in France. Here I don't know when rinks may reopen.)

Thank you! I would be eve more glad should they send the "raw" version, at real speed. That's one of his strengths.

What bright ideas! I haven't been tempted to watch Princess Kaguya because of the synopsis (and how different from the original tale) but the first half of the soundtrack is great. And even better with Princess Mononoke, as Ashitaka is supposed to be an Emishi, normally from Tohoku. They were ethnically more Jomon than Yayoi (the two main components of Japanese population since two millenaries), and Tohoku and Ryukyu people are the Japanese with more Jomon blood, from recent surveys. Though Yuzuru Hanyu himself doesn't look very Jomon or Emishi (does he even need to shave?), but it doesn't mean much, as we see with Black/White mixes for instance, where a large family, with the same parents, can have very different skin colours and types. Plus the more dynamic soundtrack, yes.

I wonder if a digital version, with IT vote, would be a flop. Because many fanyus would vote to defeat haters, at least I think I would be tempted; though being certain the number of votes would be used by them as a "proof of success".

So you're a very early fanyu! Do you remember what you thought of him back then? What were your hopes for his skating? If it doesn't bother you to tell it, of course.
-
It can be ad best a guideline, or even a mere wish. If a trophy, due to be held after the deadline passed without cancellation, is nevertheless cancelled by a government for instance, what can ISU do? I dare say it is possible to foresee some of the epidemic evolution for the next ten weeks, not political action.

I don't have any Twitter account or so, either. This was, I suppose, a "closed" forum, at least to participate, but is is open to read, like PlanetHanyu. I never tried to enter there because I don't speak Russian and rely on automatic translation. While on PlanetHanyu, I know my English is faulty/awkward but I can more or less express my thoughts.

That's the main reason why Nureyev's version of Nutcracker (IMO, the worst "Nureyev version" at the Paris Opera, for this reason, it was his "gloomy period") looks so weird : the number of turns in "the wrong direction".

I still remember that PR nightmare which happened with no reason at all, with Javier Fernández before Sochi, when Spanish journalists accused him of homophobia for having said these Games wouldn't be a feast for the gay and lesbian. It went rather far. I wonder if it didn't weigh on his skating, in fact. I "rediscovered" figure skating on a Russian forum of Tsiskaridze's fans, a pleasant forum, with some skating threads all Russian-centred (the reason why I "discovered" Yuzuru Hanyu only in late 2019) but without any hatred; but sometimes they gave pieces of "exchanges" found elsewhere between "Evgenia fans" and "Alina fans", and it was horrendous. Certainly nothing any of the two would condone. I also happened to fall upon a forum of parents of Vaganova Academy or Bolshoi school? and it was even more horrific given they were the parents, and "accusing" other pupils (children!) of anorexia or obesity etc. Their children are really deserving for not endorsing their parents toxicity. It seems "being online" behind a keyboard tend to make one forget anything good?

At last, a program I can follow!
-
This is why it gets so much hatred, methinks. Of course I can be wrong. Superb picture! I am sure he would make a great detective. Except on the point of going unnoticed. ;-) Superb video! I wonder in how many countries one could have found such a proportion of athletes singing so well? (Or AN athlete looking so good, of course.) And Chris Reed is no more...

Happy birthday dear Planet! (Le Petit Prince par Saint-Exupéry, from unjourmonfils.wordpress.com)

Wow, an ink-blue kimono now. It suits him so well! Of Sendai-hira silk too? How many does he have?
-
I don't think it could be a "winning free skate", I mean at a great championship, but at a smaller event where he is sure to win even with "only" three quads, it would be great! But then, if Yuzuru Hanyu takes part into such trophies, it is also because he needs to practice "in championship conditions".
-
Well, it's just last Yuzuru Hanyu's message with hiragana subtitles, but the mistake on the title is so funny! Freudian slip?
