  1. For me it varies from post to post. Sometimes it appears embedded, sometimes as a link, sometimes not even as a link (in the latter case I mark it as a link). And yesterday I sent one which was embedded, but at a very large size. I'm afraid I gave a moderator the chore of suppressing the embedding and mark it as a link.
  2. Maybe some satellites know the satirical newspaper The Onion, well, someone had the idea of a spin-off, the International Skating Onion, and created this Twitter account : https://twitter.com/ISO_Figure I don't agree with all (though the rumour of not-everyday tests worries me) but I found it so funny...
  3. Welcome Birnasan, and thank you!
  4. And I really don't understand why. And "don't start me" on Yuzuru Hanyu's having two coaches, when counting "Washable Yuzu Pooh". Because Pooh isn't an official coach for ISU. The worst of it maybe, is bragging about it. EDIT : In addition to one coach per skater or pair, one official per team is allowed; so, maybe one of the three TeamTutberidze coaches has been appointed team official, then Layshev wouldn't go? Or maybe several Russian Pairs/Ice Dance pairs share the same coach and one team proposed a Tutberidze coach to be their coach? Edit 2 : Twist Plot : Imagine Alexandra Trusova moving back to Team Tutberidze, still unannounced... Edit 3 : A rumour says that Alexei Mishin, who has 3 students at Worlds (Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Mikhail Kolyada, Evgeni Semenenko), would go there with only one assistant, and would have invited a Team Tutberidze coach for the other of his students. Even if this is true, I wonder what he can think of Renat Laishev's declaration.
  5. As we say in France, they are sowing the branch on which they are sat. They oughtn't be so blatant about their bias. To be crude,
  6. All these small earthquakes must be mentally so trying to Yuzuru Hanyu, particularly when on ice; and to so many other Japanese people who have lived devastating ones.
  7. They will be with Jason Brown, Jun Hwan Cha (last seen : a year ago too) and (sorry, memory problem well, Yuzuru Hanyu of course!) (Ekaterina Kurakova will be with Lorenzo Magri), so why couldn't they assist Pooh in his coaching? @Dreamer & @Geo1 Did he complain himself? Or was is just the Fed (or even his coach) in his name, but not necessarily with his approval? It is not the same.
  8. As an archeological very interesting finding, this is not relevant to this thread, so I don't know if I should post it here, but this expression, not far from the beginning of the article, about caves between Heaven and Earth... And they are so hard of access, and contain such treasures... My mind may be a little bit Yuzuru-oriented? (Warning : cookies riddance is a sore, I may send a PDF if needed.) https://www.upi.com/Science_News/2021/03/16/israel-dead-sea-scrolls-judean-caves/7941615910256/
  9. Maybe Stockholm would be a test for holding or cancelling WTT, which would in turn be a test before Olympics? In this case I dare say safety may be good.
  10. I wouldn't consider pure malice towards certain skaters impossible but I tend to think it's not that (though I believe their ill-will towards Yuzuru Hanyu would make them discard any polite remark, while the same from "an anointed one" would make them act immediately). For me they don't even consider that some athletes have special needs which a non-specialised caterer couldn't attend. And there is natto to be found in Stockholm, by the way. https://japanskmat.com/?s=natto (In a remote suburb of Stockholm, they don't deliver frozen food.)
  11. ISU commonly accept a change of athletes, if they consider them equally "marketable". As Alena Kostornaia may be quite marketable if she can skate again whole programs with 3A and great step sequences, she may be agreed (though I doubt there will be a change if nobody's injured). Roman Sadowsky is probably better known in Japan than Keegan Messing, and of equal skating level, so ISU is likely to accept, maybe less easily if Keegan Messing medals. But nobody is nearly as marketable as Yuzuru Hanyu, that's clear. Not to speak of the highly probable Gold or Silver at this Worlds.
  12. That's exactly what I feared most for him. And why I was so upset by petitions, which were more likely to do that sort of harm than anything good. And having to arrive on Sunday while he's used to arrive much later at championships. From what I read from Ajinomoto, he needs about 1/2l broth and a bowl of rice and mostly simmered vegetable, fish, meat and eggs equally distributed on three meals, plus small rice snacks with aminoacids, fermented food with the right ferments, and probably other requirements... And JSF will never dare to lodge a complaint if (which is probable) ISU-chosen caterer cannot attend special dietary needs.
  13. Well, Courtney Milan has taken the trouble to dig in the rules, here it is : So, for ISU, it is worse to miss WTT than to abuse children. I hope that at least, with the CoViD situation and if they really really want to hold WTT (Worlds are an important championship for athletes, particularly a pre-Olympic year, but WTT? While there was no real GP season and not even 4CC and Europeans?) athletes will be free to participate or to skip!
  14. Something quite different, I stumbled on a fanyu forum which name I don't even dare to mention because it contains things really... Our discussion about the PPOS was quite chaste in comparison, and there may be young readers here. But the page I came across had an interesting information, that Castle Hanyu (the Southern Hanyu, not the Northern one after which Yuzuru Hanyu's family is probably named) was a regional military base for Uesugi Kenshin. Deepl automatic translation : "Hanyu Castle has been a base of operations for the Uesugi side since the invasion of Kanto by Kagetora Nagao (later Kenshin Uesugi). This place may become a new sacred place, too." https://www.mustlovejapan.com/subject/kasugayama/
  15. The thing is, nobody's ever completely ready to watch him skate "live". Or even, for some news of his. And it is quite rational to feel emotional about him.
  16. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figure_skating_jumps One of the photos shows Jeffrey Buttle in a throw jump with Evan Lysacek! Has Yuzuru Hanyu ever tried this, for instance during a show or a gala finale? Either as the thrower or as the thrown skater.
  17. I am so sorry. I do have good hopes that these Worlds are in better hands than those of ISU, who found nothing better this year than to get a "hymn". (Still less dangerous than last year projected public/athletes direct contact.) And I wouldn't want Russian athletes to be doubly punished. (What did US Fed do wrong, apart from having some skaters overscored?) Usually there are replays in the video section, though yesterday party isn't uploaded yet I think?
  18. Thank you! What I didn't know was that she meant Olympic ones (and indeed, if these Worlds are the only means to get Olympic spots above one, it may put undue pressure on some federations/skaters in such a year/sanitary situation) and what I am still not sure, is that she meant she wished only one spot for US and Russian Skating Federation at Olympics in each discipline? I should wish many more for Russian Ladies I'd say. And US Men. And even Russian Men if Petr Gumennik can be in.
  19. Sorry, I don't understand what are these "additional spots"?
  20. What a lovely article! Incredible to know that once "triple Axel was not a friend" (to take another skater's words). I love the last paragraph : "On the night of the earthquake, Hanyu said that he saw the stars in the night sky as a light of hope. Now, the people who support the Ice Rink Sendai are seeing the light of hope in the star Hanyu." And about the day before the 2018 Parade, recently I came across a fanyu's blog, Yuzusorbet, she was among the 800 visitors who attended the rink that day (her second day of visit to the ice rink that year) : https://yuzusorbet.tumblr.com/post/176016378127
  21. Alexandra Trusova has a different team though. And I don't think Eteri Tutberidze wants to break her in any way. The fact is this sport is heavy on athletes' bodies, and the muscle memory method is harsh. I really hope she can go through it. (Not only because I wish to see her skate beautifully again!)
  22. Is not Yuzuru Hanyu's father from Tome?
  23. Hardly more than a week before Worlds? How strange!
  24. I meant mentally. Because physically it is much less worrying I think.
  25. I feel confident about her decision. Maternal feelings maybe. I felt the same when she left, in fact. But also, even if she's too young to know herself completely, she knows herself better than we do. She says she doesn't have the grit yet, the GOAT ballet dancer didn't have it yet at her age either, OK. And she feels confident that Eteri Tutberidze won't ask her what would be detrimental for her health, OK too. The objective set is to do what Eteri Tutberidze tells her to do, and to recover the 3A, which seems really compatible with her health provided the exercises are proportionate to her capacities, and honestly I think that at least heart- (they are monitored, and I will send you a DM about that) and lung-wise, it shouldn't be wrong; and as to stress fracture, the sort of progressively more and more demanding exercises she will have, are more likely to improve her condition than to worsen it. There remains the back problems, and we cannot know. There remains too, the mental issue, you're right. Now she knows that in case of panic she mustn't leave, and it won't be the first time so it may be less overwhelming, but maybe not. And she may pressure herself too much into a compliance she's unable to keep. I hope it won't happen.
