  1. This possibility cannot be discarded. Yet, I am more and more inclined not to believe anything of what Evgeni Plushenko says (for instance, the free tuition, the no contract...) It is clear and visible that she's battling with lingering CoViD effects. Hopefully they won't last too long, though of course we don't know it in advance. And given that Eteri Tutberidze gave her a 3A in the next two months as an objective, as far as I know not a run-through with a 3A, she seems to be allowing for her lungs and heart to recover when they can recover, of course while giving her the maximum of exercises she can do at the moment. And given the size of her 2A, of course I am a perfect beotian but it seems to me realistic. This is not to say she doesn't have any less transient problem, but he evoked a stress fracture and this is usually due to an incorrect exercise pattern and may relate to her multiple transitions between off-ice and on-ice periods last season, and anyway heals; and back problems, the nature and severity of which we have no clue about. I had wondered if her off-season flexibility exercises to get Lipnitskaya/Valieva-like Biellmann spins had not been too much, and wondered what it would be if she ceased to do them. In fact we know near nothing, like for most skaters.
  2. Of course! Yet I wonder if some didn't take it for true? Because basically, we don't always remember what have happened and when.
  3. A few seconds later, he said he had never said anything more embarrassing in his life. He certainly didn't mean that "30 is old" in that way, rather that for him, it was still so far away that he hadn't event projected himself so far.
  4. It would be a dream for us but maybe not for him. But the thought may have occurred to him (and then, I remember this discussion with "30 years? It is so old!") In a sense, he is forever young, but also with such a weight on the shoulders. Sort of Frodo. Yet he may wish to motivate the younger Japanese generation to beat him, at least in jumps.
  5. Which is utterly false. On July 17th, Alena Kostornaia decided to leave, asked Rozanov and Plushenko, then announced it to her coaches. On July 18th, she left them and confined. On July 31th, Eteri Tutberidze's Instagram announced it "loudly, to the whole country" with unpleasant accusations. Alena Kostornaia didn't answer for weeks, if not months, only Plushenko corrected the calendar of his own knowledge and intervention. Alena Kostornaia only answered much later, when things were calmed down. Will Tatiana Tarasova apologise to the whole country? @rockstaryuzu I didn't see it at all. @Fay I am so glad if they are learning dignity!
  6. If it has to be cancelled, then better before the athletes arrive, certainly. But I should prefer Worlds to happen — and well.
  7. I have never had enough emotional distancing to consider it as a soap opera, but indeed, any screenwriter writing such a scenario would be fired. (The same with Yuzuru Hanyu's life has already been said, by the way.) This article is a bit less assertive and gives some additional information : https://www.eg.ru/sport/1106282-alena-kostornaya-uhodit-ot-plyushchenko-i-vozvrashchaetsya-k-tutberidze/ So, Sambo 70 director said she had asked to come back, but it is a question between her and Eteri Tutberidze (so, we don't know where his knowledge comes from). The author stresses that she may also have been there to do the final paperwork, as she is still representing Sambo 70. I tend to believe the long conversation though. But it doesn't imply she was asking for a come back, it just makes it likely. So, wait and see. Do you think he's getting new students? Or sizing down?
  8. The thread is here. So, if this hospital is chosen, there would be no GoFundMe.
  9. Maybe they don't want to divert the money of dedicated personnel (if they don't have volunteers) to manage GoFundMe accounts, that's understandable. Even more understandable that they should not accept external GoFundMe accounts. There remains to see how we may send the message that we donate instead of sending the poohs which would be later donated by Yuzuru Hanyu. A new branch of Hanyuconomy : Poohconomy.
  10. Thank you! If there's a foundation with a bank account, it's really great! Though one may try to limit bank transfer/exchange rate costs by using services like TransferWise rather than direct bank transfer, for those who don't have a Swedish account. Is it possible to send a message with donations? So that we may find a common message to identify the donation flow from Yuzuru Hanyu's fans? Yuzuru Hanyu seems to have many Turkish fans, and also many Swiss and Swiss resident fans. One very well known among the latter : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koshiro_Shimada
  11. D-23 before Men's short program, D-25 before Men's free program.
  12. Thank you! This is well what I mean (and the object of Tatiana Tarasova's intervention). The National Team has 6 members now (all Senior, the Reserve I don't remember) and for next year, there are 7 Ladies at the top. "Too many Ladies", would say Elizabeth Bennet. Or not. Does a member of the National Reserve receive less support than a member of the National Team?
  13. At least she's among the four "evident medallable" Ladies. We can't even have a big Young You surprise as she's not in the Korean team.
  14. Welcome, @senemgencer Do you have an idea of an organisation for this donation campaign? Do you have a contact with a Stockholm children's hospital? There is for instance the Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital, depending from the Karolinska University Hospital, the main research hospital of the country, though I don't know if they have many patients in long stays etc, or a social service to donate to, etc. Here is their page in English for international inpatient referral : https://www.karolinska.se/en/karolinska-university-hospital/medical-areas/pediatric/ And here is a good free automatic translator from Swedish to English (not good at all the other way though) : https://www.systransoft.com/lp/swedish-english-translation/
  15. Are there normally alternates in the Russian Worlds team? And what is the practical difference between being in the National team, and being in the Reserve? Tatiana Tarasova seems to consider Alena Kostornaia's place there at stake (as others) : https://rsport.ria.ru/20210301/kostornaya-1599498998.html Assuming Alina Zagitova leaves the National team (she is no more fit to compete at the level of the Russian Ladies field next season), and the National Team is not extended, there is not space enough for "the 3A", Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Kamila Valieva, Daria Usacheva and Maiia Khromykh. When must the decision be taken, by the way?
  16. Mayn't it alleviate some weight on Mishail Kolyada's shoulders? I mean, there's no way he can get Gold or Silver unless either one of the two evident ones withdraw or have a complete splatfest (no such history from any of them; PyeongChang for Nathan Chen is Prehistory, not History), so he can't win a third spot for Russian Men alone, and everybody can see that. The only hope of a third spot, would be that he gets a very good rank and the second skater another very good rank even if lower. Is it only possible with Evgeni Semenenko? Can he be in the top 10? (remembering that if he's 10th, Misha Kolyada must get Bronze and it would need tremendoud luck) Doesn't it tell in advance that Men Skaters from Russia will have two spots?
  17. I have just checked and it is top 10 : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Figure_Skating_Championships#Number_of_entries In fact I hadn't understood this 13 rule. It means that the sum of the ranks of the two best skaters of the country, must be equal or inferior to 13, that is for instance, a Bronze and an 10th?
  18. I like very much her new program, and her skating itself didn't seem affected by the latest off-ice period (the sore throat), although of course the program itself is not completely ready. After this interview, I doubt she could be back in shape for Worlds though, with 3A and all of course I may be wrong. And I thought too, "there's no way she's still at 1m55". Don't you think she's grown again? It seems she's already preparing her Olympic season, though she's brave enough to fight what she has to, like Alina Zagitova at Worlds 2018 (I was so proud of her, she was so brave, and her 5th place was a success at that moment). I hope she has a good skate today, but with 7 points to retrieve and without her 3A, I don't see how she could beat Elisaveta Tuktamysheva unless the latter falls repeatedly in her free. Not her style. And I was sorry Anastasia Tarakanova had to withdraw. I hope she heals swiftly too.
  19. I thought he had to be among the top 12 or 13, not the top 10? It is even more of a weight on his shoulders. I think Skate Canada stated it themselves, that they would choose from videos they were to receive?
  20. Skate Canada have issued the list of Canadian Worlds entries. For Men it's Keegan Messing, I'm sorry for Roman Sadovsky (and Nam Nguyen). https://skatecanada.ca/2021/02/skate-canada-names-team-for-2021-isu-world-figure-skating-championships/ (I don't see a list of alternates.) [NEWS]
  21. It's better to have numbers and pictures etc, but on the other hand it is so logical that it could be quite expected. (Even by a dummy like me who am so slow on fluid mechanics.) Same for ventilators, and anything making air circulate without filtration. And while with past strains, airborne transmission was rather rare, the new variants having much more affinity with ACE2 receptor (2.5x more for the UK variant, and I have heard a scientist expecting 13.5 more in case this strain would acquire some South African or Brazilian mutation, I don't know if it is already the case with the UK + E484K variant), one can fear airborne transmission may become more and more frequent (but it hasn't been quantified, as far as I know). If he keeps LMEY for Olympics. Full of surprises as he is, I'm quite sure he will keep Ten to Chi to, but for LMEY I wonder. Anyway he would skate it in shows and galas (or as encore with Sweet Yuzu™ costumes ). EDIT : It had just occurred to me that Yuzuru Hanyu may have been in 2011, the youngest ever medallist at 4CC, and have just checked : he was, and is still. EDIT 2 : a lesson on fluid mechanics by Yuzuru Hanyu. One can see the cherry blossom had fallen, then was uplifted by the wind and was prevented from falling again until the end of the program. With a droplet, (a normal) ventilation won't uplift a fallen droplet because of its weight, viscosity... but until it falls, it is kept "flying" by the air movement.
  22. Thank you so much! It's my husband who remarked that, "playing tag" being "playing cat" in French, he must have been terrific there. And French are reigning World champions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chase_Tag No wonder that Tomoe Kawabata is not faint-hearted.
  23. Then the stalking method has to be widely denounced, so that everybody refuse to buy that trash, that would dissuade them. He deserves to be let free from intrusions, and to focus on Worlds, not to be stalked.
  24. As if he had not had enough health concerns with his sinusitis. I hope it is benign and won't prevent him from competing at Worlds.
  25. Discrimination maybe, but underrepresentation, in my opinion, could be much less severe if costs were not that astronomical, at least for the more gifted. Given, of course, the income/ethnicity relation.
