  1. There's a cute cat in the video too!
  2. Doing ice angels no less. LOL! @Songster01 I don't have high hopes for any NHL players to respect quarantine. As a group, they're kind of the epitome of privilege and entitlement. I'm not enthused about hockey's return at all, I feel like it's too soon and entirely unnecessary
  3. That's what I thought, too. ( That he was already out). He says in the interview that he thought it would serve the cause of gay rights if he did come out.
  4. ...was going to post something but decided against. Not sure if it's too gossipy or not. Found a less sensationalized version: https://www.lequipe.fr/Patinage-artistique/Actualites/-s-exposer-sert-la-cause-homosexuelle-estime-guillaume-cizeron/1137901
  5. The only one I'd have a hard time with is the women's because meh. I know exactly who I'd pick in all the other categories.
  6. But why on Earth would he have stayed in Toronto once he knew that Worlds was cancelled? Even in a normal season, he goes back to Japan as soon as Worlds are over because he has WTT and/or ice shows to prepare for. Being in Japan from the end of March until mid-July is his normal schedule in any given year - why would you all suddenly think it would be different now? The only difference is that he's not on the road going around Japan with FaOI. 100%, he's in Japan, and has been since mid-March, before borders closed. Think about it - it's what he does every. year.
  7. I really want the costume book too but from what you're saying, I guess it's better to wait until things sort themselves out.
  8. "In this article from Iwate Daily, the manager of Ice Rink Sendai, Ariie-san said they took advice from Yuzu when they equipped the sound facilities" Because of course they did. Stories like these remind me of what someone told me once about a military sonar operator they knew - the guy had his music collection organized by the sound quality of the recordings. Yuzu seems to be that kind of sensitive hearer.
  9. Come on, why do people keep wondering this? There's absolutely no reason for him to be anywhere else except for at home in Japan. The question is whether or not the restrictions on travel to Canada will be lifted in time for it to make sense for him to come back here before the season starts or not.
  10. My guess from observing him as a fan is that it's more a case of being so dedicated to skating he can't help but become isolated (aka it's lonely at the top), but he's never struck me as introverted. Look at the way he chatters away to the others at medal ceremonies...Keiji is on record as saying Yuzu never shuts up LOL. The very fact that he is able to draw energy for his performances from the crowd support is a classic sign of an extrovert. An introvert would find all that attention draining.
  11. Depends on where the season starts but if worst comes to worst, probably whatever is the earliest local Japanese competition he's eligible for...sectionals I guess? If ACI happens, then probably there.
  12. Pretty much. Considering how invasive the drug testing regimens are in some sports, it astounds me that people still manage to cheat.
  13. If they're elite athletes they're being randomly tested all the time anyway. Like, loud knock on your door at 5 am, please pee in the cup this very second, type testing.
  14. Well yeah but then it becomes "Knitting Player" and that's just like "Google Translate, you're drunk, go home"... We should compile a list of crazy Google Translate versions of skaters' names. I always get a kick out of "Author Coach", for Brian, myself.
  15. If they put a camera man on the ice with a live feed to follow the skater around, they could have a competition without anyone having to travel at all. each skater could perform from their home rink, the judges could score via videoconference, and because the camera would be right on the ice following the skater around, any funny business in the scoring would be immediately apparent.
  16. It'd work for ice dance but the judges wouldn't know how to score it. Pairs is not pairs without lifts and throws, though.
  17. As long as it's not calling him 'String Feathers Player" as it sometimes does...
  18. I can't even visualize how they're going to handle hockey under COVID. I think with the exception of the NHL, hockey is done for the time being, except for individual skills training. There's no way you could safely do a Timbits league right now, for example.
  19. He lives in Vaughan, Ontario, or Richmond Hill:. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Vaughan,+ON/@43.8369994,-79.7060246,11z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x882b268883243a77:0xdd95317585aa054b!8m2!3d43.8563158!4d-79.5085383 He's in the same time zone as me. That's how I know he was up so late.
  20. Wow, the Russians are going hardcore....athletes and coaches have to have a medical clearance and won't be permitted to leave? So they're basically taking the approach of quarantining together at a training base. Not at bad idea at all, but I don't know of any other federation that would have the will and the resources to do it this way.
