Yuzu's heart-shaped smile and crescent eyes has that ability to cure any sadness. They're just so genuine and heartwarming. i'm just glad to see how happy he seems here. maybe he's had a great practice? and I know that's Alysa's default smile but that would totally be me if I ever got a chance to take picture with him (though this is how i usually smile )

Im so thrilled about Rika's potential fs layout simply because I know if she could be clean it will be magical. She isnt just a jumper. She has so much development throughout the 18/19 season. This layout might be the only way to fight against the 2 quads and no triple axel layouts of Sasha or Anna. Rika really needs mental strength and because I know she has solid triples and stable 3a. She just needs to believe she can do it. and one of the reasons why she is less consistent than the top russian skaters is because she doesnt prerotate or underrotate like they do someone calculated the best possible layout for her If she pops the 4s to 3s, she can solo the 3a to do 3a3t* and 3Lz2T* in the 2nd half

This is why I like almost every single comment that supports yuzu on twitter on this Olympic page. Yeah i know they tend to use Yuzu as clickbait materials. but sometimes they also give us exclusive contents about Yuzu..Just like Laureus account that gave us Yuzu's message and received 11k likes. It's a win win situation 😊 so I hope through our support via social media we show ISU that Yuzu is above this sport.

I agree especially LGC's speed was out of this world. i always had to slow down when making gifs. also honorable mentions to requiem and notte stellata. and tbf, all of Yuzu's spins are really creative and purposeful. i even love that final spin in haru yo koi when he changed the spin three times to match the three final glissando (if i use this word right)

watching this part around 10:40 where the interviewer said to Scott "you hate to lose. you're in it to win it. i know you like to dance but you like to win." and Scott said "tbh its just nice when somebody says that because its funny how people dont understand that if we're coming back to enjoy ourselves and we're coming back for the sport, for the love of the sport, they think thats separate from winning. in my mind thats not really it. we have the most fun when we're winning." Sounds like that with our boy, doesnt it? somehow, after watching this i relate it back to yuzu's programs this season and find a new meaning to the theme of origin. when he came back after PC, all of us werent sure of his sole motivation for staying, and i think at that point, from what we know from his interview, he was also asking himself the same question. while the act of continuing after pyeongchang could have many meanings to it, such as that he simply loved skating, felt competitive enough, wanted to finish any unresolved businesses like fulfilling his teacher's words that he would attempt the 4axel in his generation and tributing to his heroes, the most obvious motivation that didnt seem so obvious at that time was to keep winning. thinking back, after he announced about origin and otonal and explained his reasons for doing these programs, i felt as if this could be his last season. I guess thats because the idea of skating for himself seemed too much of a leisure, which lacked a sense of competitiveness. And this idea didnt just come without justifications. Yuzu had said he wanted to go back to experience the feelings of why he started skating. He said he would not focus on the scores. This was evident by the fact that he put all his jumps in the first half for the short at ACI. But what happened? It took Yuzu one competition, even after having won and that it being his first competition, for all of us and Yuzu to learn that "skating for himself" obviously didnt project such meaning. At that time I was a bit worried seeing how kuyashii he was over a minor competition where he actually won. but now it actually encourages me because that is what origin really about and should be about. while these programs are tributes, only until they were skated from a place for himself that could project the true meaning behind Origin. Because skating for himself means skating from a place to achieve the highest victory, and when he could achieve this, it reminds him of why he loves figure skating, why he started skating, and why he continues to skate. That motivation to win, to accumulate more happiness of being able to win -- not just for the medals -- is the foundational driver for staying. im glad that he has come to term with this early enough so that whatever he is working toward for the next seasons will be clear and no time wasted. I look forward to see what we will see more from him. Hearing what Scott said and knowing how they ended up winning the Olympics have given me hope.

the 5t -- is it me or i cant see where he picked? that look like an almost full blade assistance with at least 180 degrees prerotatation? im not very good at this so can someone help me out here. ETA: i see in the comment sections, people are saying it's just 4.5 rotations and some said it could be an axe.l but i dont think someone who can do a quad can necessarily do a triple axel. they're two different jumps. it actually makes me think if yuzu can land a quad axel, other skaters will start doing quints.

its nice seeing patrick's growth and his words moved me. even if ur not a fan of him, you have to admit he was a great skater and his loss was something thats hard to take if i were him. But i guess he now realizes losing to a 2x ogm isnt bad after all

Thank you so much everyone who responded so far. I really enjoyed reading all of them and I agree with many people. Just to be a bit more redundant by answering my own questions. I personally think Yuzu is a better skater than Plushenko not because the sport is progressing since many skaters now do jumps with a higher base value but don't necessarily jump them with the correct technique or execute them with the same quality as past skaters. On top of this, other aspects of their programs have been sacrificed due to this focus on the jumps. The sport isn't really advancing just because top skaters are breaking records. Was Zhenya better than Yuna when she broke her record? Is Alina the GOAT for having won everything at 16? To me, the answer is 'no'. The sport can only advance if what we're seeing reflect the achievements that are being given out. Likewise, the skater is only the GOAT if what they give out reflect what they've achieved. I think Yuzu is a better skater than Plushenko simply because he is a more complete skater in every area. If there is a skater who can do every aspect with better quality than Yuzu does, then I'd say he is the new GOAT even if he doesn't have an OGM. Because at this point, medals don't mean so much to me neither do scores if the system doesn't give them out correctly. This is actually something I really want to let non Yuzu fans/antis know, that I don't mind someone beating Yuzu, or even surpassing him as a skater. In fact, that's something to be celebrated because that would mean the sport is truly advancing. The reason why many fans were outraged with ISU when Yuzu lost isn't because he lost but how the unfair it all was. Looking back, Boston was probably a more depressing event for the fans but it was never something I felt bitter about because I thought the competition was somewhat fairer. I also agree with @Lambari that the term GOAT should be given out generationally. It can't and will never be definitive. I thought long and hard on how should this be defined and came up with a couple of criteria such as longevity (the amount of years a skater could podium), dominance (their margin of win/ceiling scores compared to others in a competition), accreditations (like titles/scores/records), impact (how many young skaters they inspire/how they push this sport technically and artistically), star quality (this is a bit subjective but i'm guessing their ability to bring in the crowds/audience), legacy (how many programs are remembered/ how much are they remembered by/what they would leave behind for the sport). We can look at this as GOE bullets. Some skaters can get 3, others 4, but they can't get all of this like Yuzu. In fact, the first three criteria could be gifted and not earned. I'm actually pretty encouraged to hear this. I don't have the heart to watch his NHK17 practice, so I didn't really know that all of his other jumps also didn't work out that day. I heard he was jetlagged. I think it's the same at Cor18. Hope he will learn from these experiences. I hope the 4Lz won't become a psychological issue for Yuzu. Maybe having injured by the 4Loop and gaining it back in one season might help Yuzu get back some confidence that he would be able to regain his 4Lz as well. If I remember correctly, he said something this season like he could probably get the 4Lz back if he practices a couple of months? Please let me know if anyone can confirm this/reference me the link. Thank you for praying for Yuzu. I also do the same every night. Yeah I think Yuzu is addicted to competing and winning, but if he could win the 3rd Olympic gold medal I hope he would feel complete. He once said PC was his midpoint and at that time he already felt happiness, so I trust that Beijing (if it happens) will be enough to close his competitive career. At the end of the day, he got what he could ever dream of getting and more through all of the effort he has put out (though what he deserved to have is even more than this). I think perhaps Yuzu will get withdrawal syndrome for a period, but seeing how talented and genius of a person he is, outside of competitive skating, he's capable of doing so many other interesting things. From what I've read, I don't think he would only focus on one thing, he's been a philanthropist, a producer, he did acting before, he's done music editing for his program, he coached younger skaters before, puts his voices into the making of his costumes and choreography...I'm sure he will find these things interesting at some point post-retirement.
