Thank you for helping us taking the lead on this and researching! I'm waiting for your summary. I think rather than collecting the money ourselves, we can just take on the role of an organizer and promote it via blogs and other social media platforms so other yuzu fans can join and directly donate. I think we can reach out to the organization and ask if there is some kind of note we can leave when we donate to show we are from one fandom? Like when we donate, we can put a certain code "Hanyu's pooh" <--- just an example. I think the paypal charges is a pretty high rate, like you mentioned, so it would defeat the purpose of a donation. The only thing is I'm not sure if many countries around the world has credit card. Sorry for my limited knowledge, does anyone here know?

Japan = Yuzuru Hanyu

Realistically, I don't think Yuzu can do a 5 quad layout clean. dont @ me. I only feel this way bc i feel like he couldnt do it in the past and now with his condition and a 4 minute rule, it is pretty tough unless he is willing to bomb in a lot of comps. He really bombed at ACI 2017 and couldnt do it at Rostelecom cup. The closest he came to this was 4cc with one fall. But well if he does retire and have at least a year of rehab and full training for it, he might be able to. But here is the thing, without Yuzu competing, imagine how Nathan will dominate the discipline and how much more will he be scored in an empty house. Without a competitor to hold him back, ISU will try to raise other competitors like Vincent, Samarin, Gogolev, grassl...etc new faces in the next year or two. I am not sure if this is a good idea for Yuzu to suddenly unretire around Beijing. I feel like they would know Beijing could be Yuzu's last comp before he retires again, so they don't have any incentive to crown him. but then yeah it could be the same idea even if he stayed btw, that third lp layout seems like a good layout bc if he does 5 quad, of course chen would as well. i think the combos seem most promising
-
I agree with this. He needs to not go for 4 quads in the beginning of the season. Nathan didn't either and still won throughout the season (lucky him Yuzu didn't compete at GPF tho) Yeah I think the problem with Yuzu's free program this season is it's so packed with transitions that it's draining his energy for the jumps. Origin is a program that it takes someone as good as Yuzu at his best to make it work, and right now he isn't at his best. I think he should try a slower piece next season for the free and a faster piece for the short. But I'm just like upset because why does Yuzu even have to strategize all this much or be at his very best in order to win? Why does he even have to up his tech? Like IF judging had ever been fair, Yuzu would have won Worlds even with 2 mistakes and the lost levels. That would happen if Nathan were to get 85 in his PCS and lower GOEs, while Yuzu getting high GOEs and high 90s. But that didn't happen and will never happen in a million year now. and ehhh yeah I don't think that skating to the same music will do any good for Yuzu. 1 is Yuzu's music choice is completely different from Nathan's. 2 is we clearly don't need this to see who interprets the music better. The judges don't care, really. 3 is it doesn't look good on Yuzu's part and you're right that he would never do something like that. I don't know if Yuzu should be explicitly declaring that he will compete for Beijing in order for judges to keep him in the game now. Like his plan in doing a 4flip, 4lz, and 4axel obviously requires a lot of time to fulfill. But they want to push him to say it, which isn't a good thing for Yuzu because he doesn't need that pressure. He already has enough of his own. So it's going to be a hard road ahead for him. Figure skating world will be using his fame to benefit but won't reward him for what he does. Wish Yuzu the best next season. I just want him to be happy and healthy, dang it! Retire happy already!

omgosh so I was right back then when I brought this up in another thread and someone corrected me and said you can't do the 4a and 3a/2a at all in the sp. and yeah who'd do that eh?
-
So you mean people can do 4axel instead of 2a or 3a to fulfill the axel element requirement?
-
Oh right and this..I find this rule ridiculous. Why cant a skater do a 4a and then 3a or 2a? Im actually confused. and yes, another reason. If you are not in the final group...your pcs somehow drops.
-
I think its bc in the sp, there are less amount of elements so you cant afford to miss any one of them, even a spin. Also, the criteria for each element is also quite strict. You need 1 combo, 1 double or triple axel, 1 triple or quad. Also, the sp has only around 2 minutes for 3 jumps, 3 spins and a stsq. In the past, the free was 4.5 minute and had a relatively more open criteria. I think under the new system, the free is almost as costly as the short since you cant zayak your jumps. But even so, it's better if he pops a jump in the free and finds a way to put it back on somewhere throughout that 4 minute mark, and Yuzu is verry good at this. ETA: yeah like yuzuangel the 4a isnt allowed for the short

I've been reading the conversation and I agree with both? It seems like even with scratchy landings, had Yuzu landed them all and gotten all his levels, even with a lower BV, yuzu would have won assuming Old Cat Lady's calculations hold true to the juding (at least, at this point. I also couldnt see why not considering how well Yuzu performed at the beginning of the season. I mean his SP got 110 even with a lower BV than Nathan. So tbh, with the same BV, Yuzu would have comfortably won if both went clean. But since Yuzu's always had a lower BV, his consistency in the SP and small PCS advangage will win over a high BV Nathan. And all of this is already considering that the judging has been ridiculous. So at Worlds, I get why he got 10 points less than Nathan. But of course, it should not have been that way, because even with some mistakes, yuzu should still have won at least the free skate. Now that its post World and we are in an era of a whole new level of inflation, Yuzu might not get that PCS gap anymore. Remember Zhenya and Alina's situation? A clean Zhenya could get up to 80 points in the sp and 160 in the free due to her PC margin at her prime EVEN with a lower bv than Alina's. Then Alina came along to show how she beated Zhenya twice in the 2017/2018 season. But at the Olympics, while Alina won Zhenya, Zhenya still had the PC advantage. Then slowly with all that happened to Zhenya and her inconsistency, her PCS dropped whilr Alina has become the skater with the highest PC. At Worlds, two clean programs from her and from Alina's now have such a huge point gap. (Sorry not sure how clean she was I didnt reallly watch her free.) It's gonna happen to Alina and Rika (if Rika is able to be more consistent at skating two clean programs next season with her 3 3as.) and probably Alena, Anna, and Alexandra, who will go senior next season. My point is I agree that they are going to make Nathan be the highest PCS skater now with his reputation UNLESS he loses to Yuzu at WTT (which wont happen since Yuzu isnt competing and his current condition, and this is actually a chance for Nathan to break three new records given how inflated WTT usually is) The narrative has never been Nathan winning an injured Yuzuru with mistakes. It is a "The defending champion and Yale student winning perfectly with a big margin over a the 2x olympic champion at his home country." And I think the new system is just an opportunity for ISU to wipe clean the whole idea that Yuzu should still be the highest PCS skater and that a perfect Yuzuru cannot be beaten. I think before Yuzu needs to get that BV advantage, what he needs to do is to be more consistent at skating two clean programs. Because even if he wont get that GOE or PCS advantage anymore, he can still win easily over the other skaters. Plus, consistency is one of the factors that magically increase PCS and GOEs and skating two programs clean will help with the total comb record. While Yuzu at his very best could get 223 in the free and 112 in the sp before, how many times could he put two of thr scores close to these at one competition? So consistency is the answer. The better answer is to have correct judging, thats all.

If this idea offended you both or anyone else who read it by anyway, I do apologize. hmm I understand where you both are coming from and I appreciate the advices, really. Also, yes I was serious about the idea of sending the team something and of course it wouldnt be anything like "hey you guys need to do this and this and this because I think it is the best way." but I do understand the idea of trying to advise the team could come across strange, arrogant, even rude...regardless. But honestly, from my personal point of view, I don't see the harm in this attempt. I never thought it means I am more capable than Yuzu or his team. Suggesting does not assume someone else doesn't know, it is that I don't know what they know and giving them my input on what I know. Also, I will not try to represent Planet if I did send him a letter. So if he or anyone finds it strange, it would be between me and whomever I am sending to, and I will hold full accountable for my own action. I actually find if we keep on trying to think over and over about what Yuzu and his team would think, it will lead to passivity. Just like how in the cheer project thread, many opposed the idea of sending him this or that and in the end, nothing gets done. There is no guarantee that the team will take any of this seriously but there is no hurt in trying. But anyway, I did see how difficult it is to reach team TCC so I dont think I will attempt.

Haha I'm in! I think we do have full CiONTU but without subs. The subbed version is in cuts. I also want to do a Max and Angelo commentaries streaming party.

I agree. I think his programs without any jump is still a lot more complete and interesting than 90% of other skaters'. I especially love that Mission Impossible perf. --- anyway, I've been ranting and retweeting rants on twitter 90% of my time these days. I feel like many people including myself are still unable to get over what happened at Saitama and the state of the current CoP system. But I want to move on. I need to. I don't want to spend the rest of my 5 or 6 months still being bitter over something I can't change. Or worried about something I also can't change, which is the fact that Yuzu is risking his body over training now that he is too prone to injuries. oh and I had a very funny dream that Shoma withdrew from WTT due to his injury and Yuzu had no choice but to fill in for him. --- I'm looking forward to his appearance mid April! I'm wondering if he will skip ice shows this summer. If he is I need to start occupying my summer lol I used to wish to skip Autumn and Winter to Spring in order to see Yuzu and now I want to skip through Spring and Summer Life as a sataellite

not sure if you guys saw this but dima did 4t3aseq what if we get an origin tribute. its gonna be a tribute within a tribute within a tribute damn Yags got a long line to wait for his flowerboy moment

I am always excited to watch Yuzu compete and one of the less obvious reasons is because I get to see the small differences he'd incorporate into his programs throughout the season that really make you see how they've developed. Like when I watch many other skaters' programs, it's not very different from one competition to another. Their programs seem to be a finished product very early on, but they don't really grow. Maybe the jumps are a bit different, but other than that, whatever's choreographed is choreographed. But if you watch Yuzu's programs, they are different from each competition in little ways. And it just reflects a lot about the kind of skater he is, the kind that is fully committed in his own programs. I feel like Shae and Jeff would give him their drafts and then he goes and proofread them, and over each competition they become masterpieces. Just like how with Hope and Legacy, the part he stopped and took his breath at GP series turned into a moment of him holding a star and letting it go at Worlds. And here from this season. He did this sensual movement that turned into this bowing violin movement, which interpreted the music better in my opinion

"Yuzu's programs are similar"? I feel shameless for advertising my tumblr post but I did put together a post to explain the differences in Yuzu's programs here https://goatyuzuru.tumblr.com/post/180331083554/yuzuru-hanyus-versatility-through-studies-of-his If you ever feel like ready something lengthy, check it out!

Ahhh thanks for explaining these points! They're very strategic and I think they make sense. Hmmm, I haven't done it so I'm not exactly sure how. I know fans tend to give stuffs to Ghislain to relay to Yuzu after competitions. That's one way, but that would mean we have to wait until next season, which is all too late. We can write a letter and send to the club Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club 141 Wilson Avenue Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5M 3A3 But I'm not sure if this would reach Brian/Ghislain. Fans send Yuzu stuffs but I don't know if he has time to go through all of them. I'm going to have to do some research or ask around.

I like the layout you came up with and it is very realistic he can skate it clean. I think having the 4t3a makes the judges give him somewhat higher GOE. for some reason, I notice judges give higher GOEs for quads that are not executed super well than triples that are done well. So while 3f3aseq might be easier and will gain him a higher bv, the GOE he gets on it might not be very high and we know GOE is contingent upon bv now. I also agree with all the recommended points. I'm not sure how consistent Chen will be with 5 quad layout in a 4 minute program as he did last season. It was an olympic season and he trained a lot more for it. Plus, he is very strong with 4 quads so I don't think he will change his plan so soon (who knows though) unless Yuzu shows he's back with a new quad or is consistently getting his high scores back. I also think he really should drop the signature moves that add nothing for the judges. In the past, Yuzu could afford these moves as an aesthetic factor but now they really took too much energy out for him. I noticed he was really losing so much energy when trying to incorporate these moves and they affected his energy going into the last two spins. 7. Move the 3 jump combo to his lowest value combo. The judges consistently give lower GOE to 3 jumps combos vs 2 jump combos. Can you explain this? I'm not exactly sure how to move the 3 jump combo. I also notice Nathan is good at hiding his stsq by using a lot of hand movements rather than actually skating. I love the idea of sending TCC recommendation. It doesn't hurt to just send a fanmail. Maybe to Brian and Ghislain this time so it has a higher chance to reach them and that they will read. We have 6 months until first competition for next season. I would really hope Yuzu to consider these layouts rather than forcing himself to do the 4lz or 4flip that will result to major injuries and having to sit out for the rest of the season until Worlds.

Now that we know the new level of GOE and PCS his competitors are getting this season, lets put them into consideration how Yuzu would need to up his bv to really stay competitive next season. Of course we know he wants to start training 4A and 4Flip and get back 4Lz. but I dont think that would be realistic for next season due to his current injuries. What I do think he can do is adding a -loop to his jump just because while it might make an extremely hard combo, it can come into handy to not zayak his other jumps. Or what he can do is still keep the 4loop but here's what he would need to do: 4loop 4S 3Lz 3F 4T3A SEQ* 4T3T* 3Aeu3S* These are all the jumps he has been doing successfully in competitions. I calculated the base value and it is almost as high as Chen's. While 4T3A might be a difficult combo for others, with Yuzu he has been doing it for a while and he did get 2/2 success level in competition. I feel like this IS his element, a wow element and it will def help if he keeps it for next season. I dont think he should take it out. JUMP BV TES =75.95 this is barely 1.5 points off of Chen's JUMP BV TES 77.29 at worlds of course Yuzu doesnt want to win with just slight points over other skaters but I think if Yuzu wants to stay safe about his next season, he can try this. He can also cut back some transitions to go into these jumps and focus more on getting the levels in his stsq and spins. And by no means am I advocating him to be mediocre in his inbetweens. I just think he needs a game plan for next season bc he has injuries to take into consideration and he needs a way to deal conserving energy for the 4 min. if he tries a new slower program then it makes sense to keep the many transitions but if he decides to stick with Origin, i think cutting back half of the moves is still good enough

i didnt get that from his answer here
