Rika's fs is truly disjointed at first impression. im a little worried seeing how ambitious and challenging it was. it is still early so i will reserve my final criticism but just going with what i saw, it didnt impress me seeing it as a whole program as much as it did as individual cuts. she def needs to work on her expression, thats her main weakness. Im also confused about what she is trying to express through this program, what was the theme? I feel like this reminds me of Seimei with less clear structure, direction, and flow. the program is so challenging that I feel it takes a skater with more experience and maturity to interpret. I really hope Rika can make it work and developed as the season progresses. Her strengths are definitely in her technique and movements though. Like she does everything really well minus her expression that seems totally disconnected. Her two programs this season will be super interesting because the music choices are totally not universally appealing but refreshing to say the least. alina's sp music isnt my cup of tea but its better than I expected of her sp. I like her jump set ups. She has better expressions here. Costume is gorgeous but like someone already mentioned, too revealing for her age. But her team has always given her a more sexy and mature image so Im not surprised.

What if we have a section pinned to the sidebar where we can scroll down and see all the latest statuses members update in their profile? It's like having a mini twitter on planet, which I think that would be quite fun. Some people don't like to be on twitter but like its format. its a great way to see member's random/personal thoughts about something that might not be particular about an ongoing discussion from the general skating/general yuzu thread

sorry i'm going to go off the tangent with the discussion here but I want to share something amusing to me. Just now I was chatting with a colleague, who is chinese, and I told him I will be going to Canada in September and October. And we were at the topic of traveling and he said he will be visiting Vietnam and would also like to visit other parts of asia in the future. I agreed with him and then he said he's not that interested in Europe. I told him I used to be like that until I started following figure skating, which perks my interest in visiting European countries. Then he shared that his mom used to watch figure skating on TV. Then the fanyu in me immediately jumped out. This was our conversation: Me: Please tell your mom to watch Yuzuru Hanyu. He's the reason why I'm going to Canada. Friend: Oh, you're going watch him? Me: Yes! He's a legendary skater. Friend: *looked him up on google* oh damn he's only 24. Me: Yeah he's the Messi/Ronaldo of the sport. He's also popular in China Friend: and good looking too Me: Yess *inserted blushing emoji* Friend: Oh no, you're showing the fangirl in you haha Me: Man I can't, I'm letting it slip through, didn't I Friend: Hahaha yeah *continued to do some googling.* Look at all those medals. Me: Yes, but unfortunately things have starting to change a little because he's gotten injured so many times over the years. He's skating on injuries multiple times. He won his second Olympic gold medal on injured ankles Friend: Ouch Me: Yeah, and --- (basically I gave him a novel of how corrupted the isu is) Friend: That's not fair Me: Yeah, well you should totally check him out tonight, read his wiki and you'll understand. Yuzu has 360 degrees awareness about everything around him, so if he really meant to recycle his programs, I guess the intent of not having media day was strategic to avoid any unnecessary distraction/counter reaction. It is unfortunate that the IG video did just that. But I am more upset at haters for using this chance to sing the same narrative that all fanyus are crazy and obsessive rather than choosing to understand the logic behind the complaints in the comment section. Their assumption that origin playing in the background is just a background music is only as good as saying people crying out loud about privacy violation are all fanyus. But haters will be haters...judges will be judges...which also leads to what I want to say next and that is, Yuzu will be Yuzuru Hanyu. And by being Yuzuru Hanyu, he carries the unfair burden, expectation, standards, and pressures everyone has for him, including himself. So thats my coping mechanism to tell myself the damage is done, hopefully the OP didnt do it intentionally, and we shouldnt be too caught up with it or his program choice. With or without the leakage, haters will have opinions and narratives about fanyus, which are out of our control. With or without recycling Origin, they will have opinions and narratives about Yuzu, which is out of his control. But one thing Yuzu can control is how he chooses his programs. And one thing I can control is choosing to stand by his decision and support his product. Naturally as a fan, I want a lot of different things for him but I am not Yuzu, and I love Yuzu because he is who he is, not the Yuzu who is there for my convenience or to meet my expectation. He could be like many other skaters who only do what is asked of them, but because he isn't just another skater, he values self fulfillment --be it skating a program to its full potential or winning in his own definition even if it means double effort. So I had already half expected Origin to come back even before the IG post, and even if not now maybe Beijing? 😂 Jk...maybe not...For me, one of the reasons why Chopin and Seimei are so dear to my heart is because Yuzu and myself grow through the seasons with these pieces.

Since The Lion King 2019 is coming out soon, I had a chance to relisten to this lovely music King of Pride Rock and thought it could actually be a great free skate program for Yuzu. I doubt he will ever skate to it so I used Origin and edited the music to fit.

You are the better me though That's true and I think the program is very energy consuming already. but I trust that Yuzu can still make it work because he is Yuzuru Hanyu after all, although I understand that means he would have to run at full speed. Masquerade has been performed twice so crossing my fingers. so many people like it over Crystal Memories too (although CM sweetheart you're gorgeous too) I will only accept Crystal Memories as an ex if Masquerade is the new short program eventho I probably wont survive if it gets further finetuned THEY NEED TO LEARN JAPANESE FOR HIM!

Can we move on from this debate please I am honestly more interested to know whether Masquerade or Crystal Memories will be his exhibition. I haven't been excited over an exhibition this much for a while, and I'm just laughing because I was a little disappointed at first when knowing it was POTO 2.0 LOL at least if he keeps Otonal and Origin next season, I can look forward to his ex.

I'm so happy about FaOI. I was definitely not looking forward to FaOI because I was enjoying how I didn't have to get into a heart attack every time Yuzu competes. But FaOI has turned out to be so fun, and I really am glad Yuzu participated. Hope Sendai will be even crazier! But most importantly, I hope Yuzu will have a speedy recovery and that there will be no injury for any skater!

i wonder when will these brands go out of stock after his interview. haha -- I was so worried when I heard about the earthquake. I hope it didnt stir up any bad experience for Yuzu or those who experienced the 2011 earthquake. anyway the quad lutz! unfortunately i feel like it is so tedious to get in contact with the organizations 😭 and we don't really know how to communicate in Japanese. So unless we have Japanese sattelites to volunteer in helping, it is going to be difficult. i have not heard back from sendai icerink. they must think we are joking lol --- @Veveco on top of our book, if we are going to throw the donation project out for now, do you think giving Yuzu a shirt with Planet Hanyu logo is a nice idea? He seems to like wearing tees and it wouldnt be an extravagant gift so maybe he would appreciate it. we can also give brian and ghislain and tracy one too?
