  1. Even that isn't a given, I ran across a post on an American religious website once, comparing Yuzu with Tonya Harding (it was probably after the movie came out) and saying how he preferred Tonya because she had had a hard life, and Yuzuru had probably had such an easy, priveleged and ordinary one. Lucky for him you had to register to comment or I would have 'explained' in large unfriendly letters a few facts about facing death in the earthquake, injury, illness, bullying by Takahashi fans when just an infant, haters.... and asked exactly what he thought the word research meant.
  2. Yuzuru wants to beat himself, and we want it for him. It makes me laugh - other skating fans say we all keep insisting he's utter perfection, but god did they hear Kurt and Carol of CBC gush over Origin on the weekend?
  3. Make a sacrifice to any passing GOAT gods?
  4. To be fair (well no, to be evilly gloating) it must be tough on NBC when their loudly proclaimed "greatest athlete the sport has ever seen" and lock for the gold was well and truly thrashed by a guy on a dodgy ankle, painkillers and ten days jumping practice... Plus, they have to stand by and salivate at the sort of viewing figures Japanese TV gets pretty much every time Yuzuru blinks, let alone when he steps on the ice. Even the viewing for Shoma, Mao, Takahashi etc are more than their wildest dreams. The Olympic channel, on the other hand, have no problem choosing a favourite out of all the champions at PC. Wonder why? and we all heard the CBC's latest commentary when watching Origin... "greatest the world will ever see..."
  5. New themes! I can see me switching on a weekly basis for the rest of the year, yes.
  6. Echoed this weekend by Kurt's affectionate "meeeoow" at one of Yuzu's catlike saves
  7. I have to say that from the atmosphere you can just hear in the videos (what it must have been in the area!) in the more intense/dramatic moments of Yuzu's skates (and both the choreo and Yuzu's personal commitment means they are super intense)... as he gets better and they get closer to the big competitions, it is going to get really insane. Even more than before, I would hate to be the one to follow him on a great skate. And I'm not talking about the Poohstorm. I imagine by the GPF and Worlds, the uproar will shake the building!
  8. I just thank Providence that he chose, all those years ago, not to get into social media. No one could have known how mad it would get around him, but at least he doesn't have that pressure to deal with too.

    Otonal

love the small changes to the costume, the more intense but still dusky blue, the gloves....
  10. He wouldn't be Yuzu if he didn't.... after all, even when he 'played it safe' in the Olympics because of his ankle, his idea of what the words 'play it safe' seemed to have a meaning completely differently from how the rest of the world understands them
  11. He has an impeccable sense of the dramatic, in music, in his programs, even in life...
  12. If we do hear that he's going to 4CC, I'll put a vote in for then - get the GPF, Nationals and Worlds out of the way (and hopefully win them, hey I don't pretend not to be biased!) then go for it where the score doesn't matter as much...
  13. Me, I think anyone who can say they've survived Boston 16, the Olys 18 or both can survive anything..... but I'm not sure I will! (concentrating on how happy I will be come Monday....) I'm sooooo glad I saw it as a tree trunk before the chest hair idea came up (otoh, maybe newbie me was so traumatised by Doryzu I was prepared to embrace absolutely anything he threw at us). I'd do something to refine the fluttery sleeves, but other than that I'll be happy to see it again. And the skate itself will probably also be even better....
  14. Origin is perfection as is. Otonal maybe could be a little longer but I'm happy if it stays as is, especially the colour and decoration... And we get to see if Haru yo Koi is definitely the gala piece and if so.... will he change the cherry blossom outfit?
  15. Don't buy it, That Yuzu might think this is all too probable and totally him, but saying it out loud -? he's way too polite and careful to do that.
  16. Waaaay back in 2012, Kurt said part of the reason Yuzu was so exciting to watch was that "you never know what you're going to get..." and that's still true.
  17. When I first joined the fandom, I couldn't imagine how you all survived the frights and angst of last year - now every time I see '4A' pop up on my screen I begin to get an inkling. I'm beginning to wonder why I didn't decide to fall in thrall to the World Tiddleywinks Champion instead of someone as wonderful - and exciting - and damn terrifying - as Yuzuru Hanyu....
  18. Of course he did, our baby ice prince started his golden hoard early. Is there anyone who didn't watch it and awwwwww themselves into a puddle of goo? He was so tiny....
  19. That you! It's now doubly adorable given Yuzu's known inability to get a suit that fits Which is amazing given how absolutely perfectly his on-ice costumes do....
  20. Okay, this is simply adorable, but can anyone explain what on earth it's about????
