There were rumours that when Helsinki agreed to take the competition on short notice, they asked for or were offered the two Olympic champs Yuzu and Alina - Yuzu may also have asked for it, he certainly wouldn't mind as it's a lucky venue for him. Russia I have also heard he specifically requested. I think the first and second seed do have dibs on actual choices, and Shoma probably wanted NHK...

Poor angel, his hairstyle doesn't work for combed-back formality does it (I love you Jun, but your hair looks like a Ken doll with attitude!!!) On the other hand from what we can see he has beaten our Overlord in the fine art of buying a suit that fits

I would LOVE to see Boyang OGM in Beijing, or at least medal... though as with the others, it's way too early for any of them to even think about it IMO - of it they do, they need to also remember how Patrick Chan looked at the end of 2010.....

Officially, no he didn't break the record - nationals don't count (for obvious reasons, many nationals - US and Canadian among them - overscore as a matter of course from what I've heard) but I'm glad for Boyang because he's been having a rough time and still gets erased by the Nathan-Shoma narrative. Europeans or 4cc are a different matter and I do expect the FS at least to go (though I expected that at the GPF too... and look what happened) But yes, the kuyashii heading into Worlds....
