  1. A recent photo of Mai in Nobu's new blog post too! https://ameblo.jp/oda-nobunari/entry-12575656083.html?timestamp=1581854156 Looks like there was a local competition for students in Kansai where they competed only with free skating, and Mai and Nobu were there to cheer for their friends/ex-students. For many of the fourth-year university students, this was the final competition of their competitive career. Junya Watanabe, the one who posted the photo shared by you was one of these fourth-year students, so Mai might have been there especially to see him off since they were both in team Nakano. Anyway, it's nice to see her again! Hope she is getting better.
  2. Since I could no longer post this in 2017-2018 thread, let me post here: PyeongChang 2018 SP by NHK Announcer: Takaki Toriumi. He has been working for NHK since early 90’s and done play-by-play announcement for NHK Trophy many times. Commentator: Takeshi Honda. Former single skater. Two-time Olympian and World bronze medalist. First 4CC champion and six-time national champion. He is also the first Japanese skater who landed a quadruple jump in a competition. He is now coaching in Osaka. He had been training in Ice Rink Sendai in early 90’s with Shizuka Arakawa. During 6-minutes warm-up SP [video] Interview with Yuzu after SP [video]

  5. Watched Music with wings on TV. It truly was moving. I am thankful to Asahi for airing it because I could not go there myself in January. I was away from Tokyo to do some stuff for my parents at that time. I especially loved Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Ballade No.1 with piano by Kotaro Fukuma. The latter was a full version and it gave me goosebumps. I am working on something else now so I am going to leave the translation to others, but some of the performers' comments were very interesting. Especially Kotaro, who loves figure skating and knows what Yuzu is doing well was in a sense cheering for Yuzu in his comment and it was touching. @Umebachi, Yuzu did skate to rock Vivaldi in 2006-2007 season, although the program title was "Summer Storm." @KatjaThera, I think this is the interview you referred to, but he didn't talk about the ceiling here. He said that he was standing on the center of the ice where there was no pillar near him so he held on to a senpai. Since there was no pillar, there was a possibility that the ceiling above them would fell, but it didn't happen. However, my friend lived in the same area said in a shopping mall she often visited, all the escalators fell with the floor (ceiling) around them, so everyone in the area really was close to death, even when they were away from the waves.
  6. Nobu appeared in an exhibition held by a seasonal ice rink in his home town Osaka and skated Liebesträume (Filmed and shared by his wife Mayu) Here are some photos shared by a spectator. According to this article, main performers of this event were Mariko Kihara and local young skaters. It seems that Nobu visited there with his family and made an unscheduled appearance. The setting looks a bit strange but I envy those who watched his beautiful edge works from up close.

  11. I guess the earlier video had been made private for a while. Wasn't it taken down once, shortly after Skate Canada? Then TV Asahi started showing it on their web site for a limited time. Now the site on which Asahi was showing the video has been deleted and the video can be seen on OIP's account again probably because the contract between Jordan and Asahi has expired. I think this can explain the difference in the number of views.

  14. Happy to hear that Han Yan is coming to Worlds!
  15. So, "Recovery" here means recovery from the injury? (I didn't know he got injured recently) Hope he'll get better soon!
  16. I cannot point out exactly where, but he said he adjusted the length of the music by changing the speed of it. (He may have also cut it but not sure.) These are examples. In both comparisons, the music is 4CC version. He does not just skate fast but also have changed the components of the spin.
  17. In an interview given after FS, he said that his priority in making the new costume was to make sure it would not ruin the image of the program in everyone's memory too much since people have seen the footage of PyeongChang over and over again in many occasions and have a strong impression of it. So the costume had to have some affinities with the older one but be able to make people recognize the difference at a glance. It is not clear who chose the color, but he said that in that costume he feels not just strength but a bit of brightness and elegance. https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2020/02/09/kiji/20200209s00079000388000c.html When I saw the new costume for the first time, the first thing that came to mind was young leaves, I mean, the real ones, not the name of this color. The young leaves are a symbol of spring and life, but I think it is also a symbol of a starting point, origin. Going into this competition, he chose to be completely true to himself even if it could make him vulnerable. He went back to what he truly loved and believed since when he was a child. Whoever chose the coloring, I think it suits SEIMEI 3.0 well in that sense as well. I also think of what he said about SEIMEI's Stsq in the talk show held during FaOI 2018 tour. He said that he had an image of him (or Seimei) running through a bamboo grove and plants and flowers sprouting and growing on his trace.
  18. The google-translated explanation is actually referring to two different colors both pronounced Moegi --萌黄 and 萌葱. The first one is 萌黄 and the second one is 萌葱. The color used in the new SEIMEI costume is the first one, the color of young leaves.
  19. From 出ない順 試験に出ない英単語 (The most unlikely English words you would find in an English exam) series: "Hanyu showed the best performance. 20. According to this site (https://gimon-sukkiri.jp/soheki/), 双璧 is a word someone used to praise two brilliant sons of 陸凱, who worked for the 6th emperor of Northern Wei. So 帝国双璧 might be the origin of the word 双璧.
