  1. Tessa and Scott in Rock the Rink show filmed by a fan (I think) I wished that I could watch this show but it must be an emotionally tough experience as well as a great experience for their fans...
  2. I don't think @Murieleirum is labeling fans at ACI this year as stalkers and such. Isn't she just pointing out the danger in justifying what we do as a sign of emotional involvement or emotional investment? And I don't think "who can afford it" means who is rich either... There must be die-hard fans outside of arenas as well, among those who can't afford to go to each competition, no? because of having no time or having difficult situations? I am not a native English speaker so I am not 100 percent confident, though.
  3. Yuzu's comment on NHK Trophy this year released during the NHK Trophy press conference. (Sorry if this has already been shared since it has been released on Sunday) "Hello, I'm Yuzuru Hanyu. Thank you for always supporting me. At NHK Trophy, I would like to perform my best at the time. To be able to deliver the performances as I envision, I am going to work hard, working on my performance step by step. (Makomanai, Sapporo) is the place which brings back the memories of NHK Trophy (2016) in which I won, so I want to work hard to be able to rewrite these memories with even greater joy. Thank you for the continuous support!"
  4. Uta&Shin&Sena Miyake after JGP Egna Shingo
  5. According to JSF, Marin Honda will take part in Skate Canada International, in addition to Cup of China.
  6. They haven't clarified why she withdrew, but probably because of a health issue... Hope she will get better soon.
  7. Get well soon, Misha! Hope everything goes well with his surgery and recovery. May he be able to say goodbye to sinusitis.
  8. Thanks! Nice to be able to hear about how he is doing in Spain And I like the way he described the rivalry between him and his ex-rivals, haha.
  9. Interview with Javi Though I have no idea what they are talking about Is he saying that he likes double bed because its comfortable to sleep in? ETA:
  10. In addition to what @andchipzz wrote above, Japan Open is an event produced by IMG (https://www.img.com/) and sponsored by Kinoshita Group, so they mainly invite skaters managed by IMG (such as Nathan, Javi) or skaters sponsored by Kinoshita (such as Satoko, Koshiro this year) or other sponsors of the event. (such as KOSE this year, which supports Rika Kihira) It is not clear why Yuzu hasn't taken part in this event, but joining this event is not necessarily beneficial for skaters since this event doesn't have SP. Skaters cannot see how judges evaluate their SP as they do in other season-opening CS events. Seeing how Yuzu has competed in the past seasons, I think he would turn down this event even if he gets invited. As to other Japanese ice shows, most of them have their headliners like Yuzu for FaOI. The headliner of Friends on Ice is Shizuka or Daisuke. The headliner of The Ice used to be Mao, but now they promote the event focusing on Alina, Nathan, Shoma. Inviting someone who has a bigger title is a bit difficult since they would have to adjust the show's structure. For your reference, here is my past post about Japanese shows:
  11. Re: Throwing gift onto the ice AFAIK it is forbidden only at Nationals. You can throw Pooh at NHK Trophy, only from the arena, though. I personally miss large banners hung on the walls since there are many beautiful ones and I enjoyed seeing it during intermissions. I don't know why JFS decided to forbid large banners and throwing gifts, but as some of you said, we can always find other ways to show support. My random thoughts on cheering: I rarely scream because I am not young and my voice gets very loud when I scream and often surprises people around me. Besides, at a competition where Yuzu is competing, I am busy praying. But I don't find most of natural kyaaa, wow! aww! I hear in the venue annoying. I was there when he revealed the purple LGC costume and it was fun. He also said that he enjoyed the audience's reaction at that time. (So he is hearing, seeing what is happening around him during the competition, I think.) However, I get very nervous when someone's screaming while a skater is going into a jump, or about to start their performance. After all, figure skating is dangerous sports even if it sometimes looks like a show. It's a very traumatic experience to see someone gets injured in front of you even if they are not your most favorite skater. I am kind of always looking for a way to let all the skaters stay focused and relaxed while sending biggest support to Yuzu.
  12. He became famous at first because of his name, but it was only after Sochi when many people started to have chances to listen to him and started taking his words seriously. When he was still competing, he didn't appear in the media so much as he does now, and he could not speak up much since he was still part of JSF. He said that when he was at school people sometimes joked about his family name, but it was rather in the skating community he had been bullied. He once said that he had thought that he would have been dead if he didn't have a family. I think that is one of the reasons why he always cares about those who seem to be bullied.
  13. Do you remember the news about the job ad recruiting part-timer to slander Yuzu? Nobu was the only one among sempais who retweeted and shared the article. No one else said anything or showed any interest in that matter. It was somewhat understandable since the advertiser was stating in that ad that they were doing so to support other skaters naming specific names, so sharing the info could cause them trouble, and it wasn't clear if they had anything to do with the advertiser. But Japanese fans were somewhat saddened by that and Nobu was the only one who gave us some hope. Nobu was also the only Japanese skater who reacted to this picture and worried about Yuzu not being there. Nobu is seen as a sunny, sweet person, but he is also strong-minded and often speaks up when no one else does. This time, he is in a difficult situation, but he has to fight alone since he doesn't have Nobu, so we are worried and think of how Nobu has been kind and strong. Rest is a loooong rant.
  14. I won't surprise if this is their actual costume after searching Fame on youtube. At the moment I don't like this program so much, but if Gabriella shows her playful side while performing, this can be a fun program, I think.
  15. OMG I wonder how would they (or we) react to 4A when we finally see it...
  16. They are (from left to right) Mitsuki Sumoto, Koshiro Shimada, Taichiro Yamakuma, and Tatsuya Tsuboi. The footage is taken from a MAD aired by Fuji in June as a short recap of 2018-2019 season. As you can see in this video, it is not clear to what the boys were reacting, but in magazines released after Worlds, they said that they were watching Yuzu and cheering for him. It could be the reaction to 4A 4T+3A, but it could also be a reaction to 4Lo since most people were anxious about it.
  17. Last night, Daisuke appeared in a news show to talk about his decision and explained the difference between singles and ice dance, showing skating shoes for singles and ice dance. I think Daisuke appearing in media as a newbie ice dancer will contribute to spreading knowledge about ice dance. However, famous skaters doing ice dance cannot singlehandedly enrich the field. Japan needs more ice rinks, coaches, couples and pairs strong enough to do well internationally. Right now, many of the Japanese teams are training abroad and they sometimes split because of the difference in financial abilities. Cathy Reed has been doing so much to introduce ice dance to young skaters after she retired, but environmental changes are essential to developing them as ice dancers.
