here's the video

In English we have this lesson on discord and narrative, basically your choice of noun, phrase and sentence placement reveals a LOT about your intention. You're not overthinking, it is intentional. Click-baity and sensational articles attract more views in US for some reason, and they need that for ad revenue. The US media has been polarising its people for decades since they successfully lobbied the government to deregulate the media, resulting in a overwhelming control of the scene. Now most news outlets in US are owned by a few companies, and they alone have the power to dictate who gets more coverage in the entire country. And profit is a big motivation here. Just watch this video on "This is what happens when one company owns dozens of local news stations", and the result of having impunity. Having seen this shit since the Olympics I've became zen though. They'll always prioritise their own pockets over objectivity. Until we buy out all their shares nothing will change that.

Was Yuzu the first skater to land 4T-eu-3S and 4T-eu-3F?
-
So sad that Yuzu is like, 1pt away from breaking records... If not for the 2019 WC scores ugh

bit outdated now, but thought I'd chip in Precisely. The girls can do 4Lz, 4S, 4T, but all of them only have 2A. Something must be up, anyone with common sense can see that there's a gap in logic there. And what's the difference between the Axel and the rest? It's a forward jump so it's physically impossible to pre-rotate >90 degrees! And it's proven by scientific concepts too. Sad that not many people know about this. To explain this I'll have to go into physics. Velocity is speed + direction. A speed that goes in different directions is not considered to be the same velocity. You can add up or cancel velocities to obtain the final speed of the object. Translational velocity is general direction and speed of the entire object, Tangential velocity is the direction and speed at the edge of a circle. Imagine a tornado. While the entire body is moving around at translational velocity, each particle in the tornado also has its own tangential velocity. The reason tangential velocity exists is because of how forces work. To go around in a circle, there must be a continuous force that changes the direction of the particle. If there are no forces, the particle will just go in a straight line. Similarly, as a skater moves across the ice, the skater will have both translational velocity (in the direction of travel), and the tangential velocity (once the skater starts rotating). Since in the air, there's nothing propelling the skater, the combined velocity at the moment the weight leaves the ice will determine the direction of travel. It's kind of like how you need to push against something to move in outer space. Basic friction and Newton's Third Law. Hence to calculate the final combined velocity, we will consider the tangential velocity at the moment the weight leaves the ice. Here I use Lz vs Axel for example. Lz is a toe jump, hence once the pick strikes, the weight should leave the ice immediately. Any additional ice marks indicate pre-rotation (as highlighted in yellow). Axel is an edge jump, so naturally it will have a small degree of pre-rotation, as the weight shifts from the entire blade to the ball of the foot for takeoff. Pre-rotation should be penalised when it exceeds 90˚, as per definition. In Lz, as you can see, despite >90˚ of pre-rotation, the skater can still travel in the initial direction of travel. The same goes for any other non-Axel jumps. However, in Axel, if you exceed 90˚ of pre-rotation, you'll be travelling backwards. Or as oonsie puts it - The presence or lack of pre-rotation can be clearly shown when examining the ice tracks made by the jump, by making the surface of the ice darker. It's really a pity that ISU doesn't care about this. To land a 4Lz, currently the girls rely on their small bodies and extra-fast rotational speed, to make up for the loss of launching speed due to friction on the ice from pre-rotation. A "correct" Lz should be in the air as soon as the toe pick strikes the ice, but with up to 180˚ pre-rotation, you only need to do 3.5 rotations in the air to make a "quad". That's just a little more than a triple Lz. And they can use the same technique for 3Lz so they only have to rotate 2.5 rounds in the air. That's why they can spam jumps after jumps after jumps. However, they cannot use the same technique on 3A, because they'll lose so much speed from the conflicting direction of tangential and translational velocity, that they'll fall flat on their face. This is why they can have 4Lz, 4S, and 4T, but only 2A. Imo that's why 3A should be the ultimate test for any skater's jumping ability. It shows your true jumping skills because it's impossible to cheat on it.

I love to draw too, good reference is indeed very important ^^ Look forward to your painting! for under armour you can probably find colour inverting tools online, granted his skin will be blue but still ;'D good luck and all the best!
-
btw was it mentioned anywhere that Yuzu will bring 4A into the competitions this year? I really want to know just curious though, every competition passed is one less chance to land 4A in origin, what more if he wants to include 4Lz as well. I'm just wondering if it's feasible to keep changing jump layouts like this... I do want to see the 4A though T.T

big hole, there was a "pop" sound when he did the stsq the seams came off

I think there's a couple of very lovely chopin back shots, if that's close enough to white for you. You can always reduce the saturation for reference. Some SEIMEI shots are very close to white too. And Notte Stellata. Most white shirt shots are from magazines if you need them. Japan training jackets. I can photoshop an under armour back shot and make it white. let me check my 10GB Yuzu folder and get back to you lol

Not sure if this has been shared before

Glad to help! Also everyone please vote! The designs this year are so awesome

(accidentally posted in the wrong thread so here's something else to share) For the "We Love Yuzu from xxx" banners, I've compiled everyone's designs into one folder here for easy browsing. I think we've agreed that everyone's free to print their favourite designs. You can find the original thread here. Hope this is ok. I don't mind changing the flags for my own designs, let me know if you'd like to put your own flags in. For designers, let me know if you'd like to share your psd files or change to google drive, reason I used this is because I don't have a lot of space on my drive.

drew this last year... been so long since I've drawn anything. He really is a muse (reference photo here) Edit: updated the link! sorry about that

Made this demographics map, spent too much time on it to not share Full zoomable map here: https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/NZJim/13/ Sources: Here's the demographic for twitter, Here's the demographic for FB, Here's some more countries from Youtube, done during the birthday project in 2016. Here's a survey from the 2019 fan book Here's the PH one. The largest Chinese Yuzu fan group on Weibo has 619k members (Yuzuru Infostation), 72k subscribers on their bilibili channel. Second largest Weibo is Yuzurink at 232k followers and 75k subscribers on bilibili

Thanks so much! I've found better world map templates so I've tried to create one here, based on the various Yuzu fans demographic surveys. The blank version can be used for pinning badges to locations too I think. Here's the psd files and some resources. In the same folder I've compiled the designs from everyone in one place too, let me know if you want to share your psd / edit files I've created another one based on density, you can find the data and the original maps here (black lines) and here (white lines), I haven't figured out how to download it as an image Also just came across my old designs in the folders, realised it fits the bill too lol. Can be an alternative if we want to avoid the word "we" and such. The psd file is in the folder linked above as well, feel free to change anything as fit

I really support this idea actually, 100% green light and I'd love to see this if it's not too late for the next competition After the recent events, I think the ISU needs reminding that if not for Yuzu, they won't be getting their pockets as full of ticket revenue AND TV rights revenue as right now. They probably had US breathing down their necks without realising who is the real game changer. Some variations if we really want them - I thought of putting photos of his record breaking programs and gold medal programs to give him some confidence boost if that works. Like Seimei, H&L, Olympic medal ceremony photos. Just a suggestion though, I think we really need to stop getting sidetracked and get the production ready asap.

I just found out about Eurovision, now I can't get the image of Yuzu dancing to Koi at Asiavision out of my head.... (from the comments it seemed like the winners are invited to host, not has to host, and a majority of the entries are serious and good songs. but my favourites are the trolls lol)

Thanks too! I understand it's difficult to do, so no worries! Thanks for all the efforts so far Just for the fun of it, I've compiled images from NASA's Blue Marble into this map for my own desktop picture haha Spent so much time on it I just wanted to share it here

the "heart in a pin" can't really be seen from afar imo, but the concept is really good compared to a solid heart, so maybe add a black outglow to the "heart in the pin" shape? or maybe just a heart outline? some variation of this? for the map colour, I think black map will provide a better contrast with the red hearts, the hearts didn't really stand out from the pastel colour, maybe black hearts will work on the pastel map instead? Imo a maximum of 3 colours - heart, map, and font, which pastel blue / black / red in no particular order will prob look nicer than pure black / red as per my design. Black font is a must, or the font outlines need to be much thicker lol For the font, if you need additional ideas, maybe something like "Love for Yuzu is // International"? or "The World // Loves Yuzu" haha. I'm not good with coming up with tag lines Are these designs for individual flags? or is this the big map that people will pin onto it? Can't imagine the huge pin fitting everyone, the size and shape is kinda big such that it detracts the focus to the centre of the "heart" instead of the pointed end where the location is supposed to be I think. Maybe the heart outlines will work idk

Yes I feel sad about that too, but there were many considerations when we chose to go for the alternative route, and this is not the only reason. We worked hard to make sure everyone is respected and this is the best solution we've came up with, your initial comment sounded like you think we bended over backwards to satisfy unreasonable demands, which is not true and we did agonise a lot over it. Showing your location on the map still enables us to "show our love to Yuzu" without the political baggage associated with flags that several countries, not just those demographics, were suffering from. We should stop acting like the original design is the one and only best solution, because there were concerns from other countries as well, just that they were not as outspoken and they deserve to be addressed too, not belittled like this. Robin made a very good case in the reply here, it is just one of the many examples that we've received.
-
Just wanted to say that it's not solely due to that issue. Some Spanish and German fans had expressed reservations for displaying their flags too due to painful parts of their history, and was relieved to hear that we'll go with a flagless alternative. [Admin edit]

ooh didn't notice about Japan being at the centre, that's awesome Yea the reason I came up with the 2nd layout is precisely because in the 1st layout, Africa is so big in the centre while being relatively empty, so I thought that the 2nd layout will focus the attention better. I think semitransparent might be messy, since the map is already quite cluttered with the borders and hearts. Might work though depending on the colour usage and design. Yea I thought about the pros of Mercator projection too, it was just my perfectionist brain caring too much about accuracy haha. If we get a good high quality map we can use that.
-
wow! design 2 looks really awesome! It feels very coherent, like a globe ^^ Perhaps "we love Yuzu" will look less cluttered? Maybe we can have more colours somewhere but I'm out of ideas, perhaps just as a background of the font to add some spice, like the watercolour splashes of the default PH banner but more minimalistic. Or just a big heart at the back lol but it prob won't fit design 3 looks like a logo haha. but I'd go with design 2 for interactiveness if we manage to get the plastic badges for attendees to pin their own spot on the map or just have a better representation of which countries we're from, because it seems like the journalists can't phantom Yuzu having any "fans" beyond Japan, and our last "We Love Yuzu from All over the World" message didn't get through their heads. I think slightly more specificity in terms of example will drive the point home for them. design 3 does look awesome tho If I have time over the next few days I'll try to add hearts to the map based on existing statistics, this is the source of the map https://www.123rf.com/photo_51018442_stock-vector-world-map-outline-vector-with-borders-of-provinces-or-states.html, we might need the EPS for a big banner (I don't have illustrator yet though), or just buy the bigger file, or find cheaper better quality alternatives lol. I kinda have an aversion to the Mercator projection cuz it makes the northern hemisphere much bigger than it actually is, but if we can find a good quality picture idm using it
-
I think the point was to drive home the idea that we are from different countries, because despite our last efforts with "Yuzu is loved from all over the world" banner, the media didn't seem to get it last ACI and still called us "Japanese" fans even though Asians ≠ Japanese, and some of us don't even look Asian.
