  1. Not sure if this has been posted, but I literally fell off my chair laughing at this (it still hurts ) so thought I'd share
  2. to bilibili it goes then, at least only three of the H&L videos we uploaded were struck out, the rest was fine it seems.
  3. hi, if you have tumblr you can contact her here! https://muffinlorando.tumblr.com or just tweet to her on twitter, she just finished her finals so she'll be able to respond. thank you so much
  4. yea, we just realised that worlds 17 cannot be uploaded there because of copyright lol. Maybe some china tv bought the broadcast. But other figure skating channels are doing really well so i wouldn't worry too much about it. Think they only care about chinese broadcasting rights which isn't a lot. we're currently looking into wordpress embedding, basically compiling videos from various sources if we want to host our own video site, does anyone know how to do this? or are there any good file sharing sites that can be used to compile?
  5. thank you for everyone who volunteered! we'll organise the info now and contact you later. I'm actually considering vimeo since the different language seem to be a huge turnoff for potential contributors, is there anyone who knows how strict the copyright are there? continues with wings survived but idk if the other SBS videos will be taken down.
  6. I used to be able to but I think the online site does not work now. I think you can if you create an account and use the app, but i'm not sure. might experiment and translate the interface. does anyone know?
  7. Amidst all the heat, if you come across anyone who has mass downloaded videos or who would like to contribute their videos, a group of us have set up a new bilibili channel to avoid copyright strikes and attempt to provide a safe heaven for figure skating videos. We just started, so do contact us at [email protected] if you have sources. Here's the site http://space.bilibili.com/391446247. I've just subbed a CWW video here, click pink button on right for new interface so the subs will show https://www.bilibili.com/video/av38525782/ Also, Lorando is trying to rebuild her videos since she had no backups, so if anyone downloaded her eng subs do let her know!
  8. I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE TEST FOR BILIBILI UPLOADING RIGHTS *bilibili is a chinese video sharing platform. It's a timed test (2 hours for 50 questions haha) on general etiquette and knowledge, to prevent spam accounts. For general knowledge I had to choose Math/Physics/Chemistry/Biology because I know nothing about entertainment / other sports, and I ended up having to google all the terms because I learned the terms in English High school math revision which I haven't touched for 3 years rip Here is the site! This is the account's follow list for Yuzu channels. A few of us are trying to operate bilibili to upload good videos from deleted Youtube channels, let us know if you want to contribute! Like sourcing / uploading / compiling / subbing / translating, I will translate the interface for both viewers and uploaders. Would be great if we can have a list of deleted channels and their owners so we can possibly contact them to ask if they would like to contribute here. We are also creating a website to compile and embed media for all skaters, as a central go-to place for information that you can't find on wiki etc, and we'd love some help. http://space.bilibili.com/391446247/fans/follow It's good because its policies explicitly allow cross-posting/reposting as long as the source is stated, and the other Yuzu News Channels have thrived very well so far, for over 4 years. It also has strict policies on toxic comments etc, and it's easily accessible for foreigners! The only thing is that you need to pass the test + get points in order to comment, but well it's a tradeoff I guess.
  9. huh really? how even though? I mean how do they even find out who threw it, and did that Chinese fan stay long enough for them to contact her and return it?
  10. To be fair, this is such a good article, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about Yuzu. It's the everything you need to know about him, the one article that you must read if you want to know Yuzu. The author really did the homework - looking at US/Cad, why can't you research on Yuzu properly like the Russian/Chinese. (it's quite poetic so it's difficult to translate ) (please thank your translators and subbers, it's painful work) (I really want to translate but I don't have the time whyyy)
  11. this seems like a trending tag, anyone knows what it means?
  12. is this from some anime? seems like there are several references to Yuzu, including the H&L, etude costume and a few more
  13. Chibura actually made an analysis that 4Lo might be more difficult than 4Lz due to nature of takeoff
  14. I have the book and the translation, I’ll check it again, thank you! ❤️
  15. Context: This guy is a ISU referee/judge/controller. Someone suggested the Fuji TV technology of measuring speed/height of figure skating jumps to him, and he is interested to learn more. He would like an English translation of this article so he can suggest it to ISU.
  16. Translation from Team Brian book Damn I didn’t realise Yuzu’s obsession for 4Lo and 4Lz was so much worse than I thought... 😭 No wonder Brian said he is much more relaxed this season. That being said, glad Orser is taking care of Yuzu. He always said that he sees his younger self in Yuzu, like a twin! So he understands how Yuzu feels - frustration, drive, and all. Brian knows when to advise him, and when to let him be his fiery self. And Yuzu takes care of Brian too. One true father and son!
  17. I remember there was a tweet showing Yuzu's favourite music, those that are not on this list https://yuzuru-hanyu-central.tumblr.com/post/179893732594/yuzurus-music-list . Any ideas? It was a Q&A from a magazine I think, probably way back since 2011
  18. Indeed, such quality is very admired in the Chinese culture. Strength in face of adversity is a respected value that many aspire to embrace. The Chinese has the most beautiful quotes for Yuzu, like "Fate whispered to the warrior: "You cannot defeat the storm." The warrior whispered back, "I AM the storm". And many more. Even the fans make very beautiful and poetic comments for him. Like this one is one of my favourite.
  19. Maybe it's the incident that made Elizabeth Payton start paying attention to Yuzu, like the incident made her realise his strength, and is the turning point of her becoming his fan or just admiring him.
  20. I honestly do not want him to participate. This is speaking from someone who've sprained her ankles 3 times each, you need time to heal, and by time it means NO strenuous activities. Exerting it while it is not fully healed will make things much worse, and create even more long-term weakness in the area. And yet, you cannot just show up in a competition without adjusting your form and peaking, which would risk more falls and injuries if the ankle is not back at full strength yet. That's why once he heard that he needs 3 weeks rest, he knew that it would be difficult to even make it for the JNats. I had a bad sprain once, and if I took care of it, it shouldn't have taken more than 3 months to heal. Problem is, I walked a lot for months after the sprain, and it took 5 YEARS for it to go back to being remotely normal (no swelling, pain, stiffness, weakness or spraining again while exercising), and till today it's still not the same. And that's just light walking, I didn't even do anything that would require me to land on the sprained ankle with G force 8-10 times my body weight, which arguably is going to be more if he wants to land the 4A. He is 62 kg now too, not 52 kg at Sochi anymore. Even if it's healed completely, old injuries can strike again when you least expect it. So there's really no point in (1) cutting the rest 1 week short to peak in time for GPF, and risk exponentially longer healing / another injury, or (2) rest for 3 weeks, show up underprepared and result in a splatfest, when JSF doesn't even care anymore and is fine with him just being there at Worlds. He really cannot have everything at once. Long-term ankle health, GPF title, 4A or Worlds, he must choose. Personally I think him being so prone to spraining now is the result of many past injuries that was aggravated. It wasn't a new injury, and it wasn't the first time he skated on sprained ankle, other than the Olympics - here's an article describing him skating on sprained right ankle during Worlds 2012, also sustained from landing a UR 4T. iirc he skated on a sprained right ankle during Worlds 2013 and CoC 2014 as well. There were plenty more examples throughout novice/juniors in Aoi Hono. As he himself said, the injury is of such a nature that even if it heals, you might not be able to skate the same as before. And personally I think today's situation is the result of multiple aggravation and neglect of full healing for his ankle in the past. I'm not blaming him for anything, but I think there's point in time when you will need to prioritise, he cannot keep putting off the health of his ankle if he wants to land the 4A this season. I can understand sacrificing the ankle for the Olympics, or Russia, but GPF?!?!?!? When he already has 4 titles, is not even the most important competition of the season, and it's not like it's hosted in Japan, US (for Johnny) or Russia (for Plush)? Tldr; Just heal your ankle properly for the 4A and Worlds. Please.
  21. Yep, we went crazy when it happened hahaha, it was 4CC 2017 iirc, the one where Yuzu got his 3rd 4CC silver and Nathan won lol. We were half happy for Yuzu and half sorry for Nathan, but glad they observe great sportsmanship. Rafa had always liked Yuzu and still likes Yuzu today, I think he said that Yuzu's skating is amazing and he wishes that Nathan skates like Yuzu. Nothing personal there, just that Rafa has always been blunt and brutally honest. Also apparently Dave from TSL tried to bait Rafa into criticising Yuzu, but Rafa misunderstood and went full fanboying instead hahaha, should've seen Dave's expression lmaoo. this is another interview i think
  22. yea I was just judging based on what I think Yuzu would've liked - being an Asian with a slightly private lifestyle, I would rather have ppl kowtow to my portrait 200km away than have a phone shoved up my face lol. Neither felt appropriate but yea. Yuzu just gave a sheepish smile when interviewers mention that people think him as a god on TV, and just said nice things about being human. I've seen multiple videos of people filming Yuzu with one hand while he signs their card on the other hand, and he didn't even try to smile or say thank you, he just signed and turned around and left with a stoic face. Being on TV and being off TV is different for sure, but I just felt that it's not just a single incident, he IS being filmed excessively off the ice, and being used to it vs liking it is a completely different matter. Mama Yumi actually had to stick her face to the wall when fans tried to take a picture of her at the airport, I don't think Yuzu would find this amusing at all. Being exposed to this so many times - you should see the crowd outside the medal ceremony and warmup area, it's insane with lots of phone cameras - I wouldn't blame him if he felt annoyed to be called for attention only to have another phone camera stuck in his face, even though he knows that each fan is different. I spoke of this from my experience of handling a bombardment of similar, insensitive questions - even though you know each asker is unrelated, at some point you're going to feel like snapping. For sure he wouldn't mind being filmed when ready, or being filmed among friends, but to a private Asian person, having a phone camera shoved right in your face when you're not ready, by a stranger, is actually quite offensive, there are adults who would get very, very angry at that. To us it's like wtf, we're not a criminal or a zoo animal to be filmed for your enjoyment, knowing that the film will be shared or played on loop later. Also we take respect and attention during personal interactions VERY seriously, like if you play with your phone while someone else is trying to talk to you / give you something, it will be seen as very rude. I think similar things happen here, Yuzu is giving you attention by signing your card, but you're not respecting the attention he is giving you by doing something else. Professional interviewing and filming is one thing, personal interaction and capacities is another, and the bond should be treated with utmost respect. That's how we would see things. Yuzu knows it's just fans, but from his expression, carriage and demeanour across all those videos when he was being filmed, I felt a sense of annoyance towards the camera because he didn't smile at all, didn't greet the fan at all, and neither did he appear to be in a hurry, he just signed and left. No arigatou, no nodding head of acknowledgement, nothing. I would've done the same if I am reigning in my annoyance at the time. He might not actually feel like that, who knows, it's just me speaking from a general Asian culture where I live in.
  23. The actual thing that troubled me was someone taking a video of him while asking for a signature, and people are saying how good that video is because it's so close to Yuzu. I mean uh I appreciate that video, but I don't think Yuzu would be very amused to have a phone camera pointed at him while he's signing a signature for you. It didn't seem respectful for the time he gave you personally anyway, as if getting the video to brag / share / remember later is more important than giving him your full attention and just appreciating him giving you his time.
  24. Even if he's not a spiritual person he wouldn't be very comfortable with that haha. He once said that he received a lot of his portraits, like oil painting, life size that kind of stuff, and he feels sorry because he doesn't know what to do with them and it's creepy to have it staring back at himself on the walls lmao. Plushenko has no problem doing that tho. All in all it's just a joke, people don't actually kowtow like that regularly. I'm sure Yuzu would understand and laugh at the ridiculousness too.
