  1. Just curious, if we are to have a PH banner, would it be nice if we have something like a word cloud? Basically varying sizes according to rough frequency (might have to scale down the larger ones lol), for better visibility, so it's not like a laundry list of words. With horizontal words too, so it's easier to read So an example could be an image of Yuzu with the background edited out, and filled with word clouds instead, as well as the words "Love from around the world" or something. Or similar to the existing design but have varying sizes for the words and horizontal so it can be read from afar. The original photo for the right one is here, someone might be able to access a larger version here I've compiled some data from the twitter page and PH's demographics group, here's the rough numbers based on twitter's demographics %. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vS_0F0yEhRxzF2zj-ruAInRjsR-XES7R. Or maybe we can export the data from PH
  2. wow, if this happened it must be really bad, I thought Nobu was quite non-confrontational Good for him for sticking up for himself. I can only hope there'll be no backlash on him
  3. Does anyone have a good quality video or photo of: this this (without the weird edit in) And Yuzuru helping a mascot back to his feet? The one where domo or something got stuck lying on the ground. If anyone knows a collection of hydroblade gifs or videos that'd be amazing too, I've searched around but a lot of the gifs are quite short, would love to make longer gifs Thank you!
  4. Yes. If Yuzu is intending to land 4A this season, there’s no reason not to go to 4CC
  5. I love you As a redditor, for reddit, I guess you can have a look around at the top posts and figure out which subreddit to best post the content, and what title would be suitable. Upload as video too for auto-play haha. Tbh you'll never know what'll take off if you never try. Good luck!
  6. Thanks! Well it'll probably be too late for Yuzu and many others. But better late than never
  7. Boyang should've gotten +5 GOE. Everyone gets bullet 6 anyway, the technical panels even think that little girls should get higher GOE because it's so "difficult". 4. steps into a jump, unexpected or creative entry 5. very good body position from take-off to landing 6. element matches the music
  8. F. Looks like Zhenya's mum Zhanna brought a fan in to TCC and caused controversy
  9. yea I think her costume change attracted some attention outside of fs
  10. Also telling how Anna's video have 950k views with 4k likes and Yuzu's has 200k views with 10k likes lmao. If we add that 350k fancam views it would be the second most popular vid of ISU skating. Pity they didn't upload all those 2015 GPF vids, iirc they had a few million views and it wasn't even OG
  11. Oh god I didn't know the circumstances that led to Gracie Gold's condition. The only other fellow female runner sponsored under the same Nike program as Gracie spoke out recently, and it's terrifying. There's a pay wall so I've reproduced the text as below. Original article here. On Friday, Mary Cain responded to Nike’s statement: The video led to an outpouring of stories and eyewitness accounts from other athletes. Shalane Flanagan, Olympic medalist, New York City Marathon champion and Nike coach. Cam Levins, Olympian and former Nike athlete. Amy Begley, Olympian and former Nike athlete. Steve Magness, former Nike coach. It's really terrible... what they could've been if they were never subjected to this... These "coaches" should really be prosecuted for abuse, how can they be let free like that when people suffer for a lifetime and have their future ruined because of them.
  12. this sounds huge That guy was the one who previewed the +5/-5 system you can read the comment chain here
  13. Well some people pointed out that 4Lo could be harder than 4Lz, also Nate has always been a toe jumper rather than edge jumper, so I'm not surprised about that. Quads pushes the physical limits so much that landing them is one thing, and landing them consistently is another. Yuzu could land 5S, but it'll be a while before he can put it in competition
  14. What can we say, the president of ISU is a 75 year old politician At least International Gymnastic Federation had a Japanese president who pushed for AI judging for the benefit of their gymnasts... Honestly his words are inspiring, he cares so much about the gymnasts. He's so resourceful too, to conduct the AI program like that. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/10/sports/olympics/gymnastics-robot-judges.html Japan is indeed the land of technologies. I mean, they even have this underground bike parking system http://i.imgur.com/A6bypye.gifv On the other hand, we have Ari pushing to replace gala with the awards when there's so many judging issues. Ugh. At least gymnastics got their priorities right.
  15. Same! It was so easy to download the original file on twitter, yet I thought it'd be left alone. Sucks! Even those circulating online didn't seem to be of the same quality... Although I don't get it... What's the downside of working for them? Won't that pay for his expenses and even let him earn an income? Isn't that what freelance photographers do? His Patreon page sets $3,000 per month as minimum to cover expenses, and $6,000 per month to make a minimum wage, and we're at like, $2,000 per month now. Forgive me but I don't think he can expect to be supported by Patreons alone if he's serious about making his work known... https://www.patreon.com/oniceperspectives
  16. I remembered wanting Yuzu to win Worlds and 4CC last year, so he would be 4x GPF champion 3x World champion 2x Olympic champion 1x 4CC champion
  17. Yuzu himself already wanted to land 4A and quit last year, so I'm not sure what his motivation will be to continue skating for another quad after Beijing. He has so much to do after all, and competing sacrifices so much. He also stated that if he thinks he can't win, he won't even compete. He'll be taking up a spot from the juniors like Sato and Yuma, so unless the field is really empty, I don't really see him keeping competing. He's not like some other skaters who can't imagine their lives outside of competing, he does have a very rich one and he have dreams with his ice show and contributing back to his community or FS by coaching or something. If he doesn't have a goal, he won't do it.
  18. I guess I'm too used to Singapore not even existing on the map haha, but I can understand. If we're going for one banner then it should include everyone yea
  19. F, I really love this tbh we don't have to represent everyone, personally I'd take the risk and go ahead, or we can add this to the design bank that people can print on their own. or a map location + pin thing? Is it possible to merge this with that? I really love your designs
  20. Some excerpts: Another article explaining how the technology works, and how it is used. Third article about this, they've been working on it since 2017 Some discussion on reddit Some issues brought up by Duhamel Some possible solutions from other sports Split tech / PCS panel for judging, More technical commentaries with statistics and analysis like the JPN TV? Some fan initiatives https://twitter.com/skatingscores, iirc there's a Japanese version ran by another fan but I can't find it
  21. If Yuzu wins 3 Olympics, it'll be the first in 98 years I think
  22. There's also these responses here's the rulebook if anyone's interested More impact of wrong calls As you can see from her other tweets, from her tone, the problem isn't that she's just stating the facts, and being resigned to it. People wouldn't be so angry, if they could feel that she thinks this isn't right but could do nothing about it. The problem, is that she sees herself as the expert, thinks that the "discretion of the panel" resulting in wrong edge or level calls is completely ok, not thinking the negative effects are important, and being unapologetic about it. That's like politicians responding to corruption complaints saying "You'll have to bribe us before you can get the contract, unfortunately. It's just how it is, the President gets 1b from it and we should get at least 100m too". Do you see the outrage from the people if the politicians say this on twitter? The term "unfortunately" says nothing about them being sad about the issue. This video explains the difference in mindset very well. There's already AI to help tech calls in gymnastics too. Same with baseball and tennis. Modifying AI isn't that difficult, granted we need more angles but again it is not impossible, if ISU has the will to look into it rather than making awards.
