I actually watched the thing live lol. And I didn't think anything was serious with the fall, just thought "oh so his ankle is still bothering him a little despite him saying it's ok" so it wasn't that bad, wasn't a bad splat or anything

Watch all the past Yuzu content and forget that you are in 2018 there's a lot of stuff here http://hanyuedits.tumblr.com/archive and here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZPWc4jOG_znUD18EMEuisg/videos and here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU9rYgyV01s9S4abBMRIZQw/videos see you back in time

mb misunderstood

Hmm. Yea I understand. I was paraphrasing though so don't take my word for granted. I don't think it has anything to do with self-criticism, like my impression of the interviews/sources said that mama Yumi pretty much let Yuzu do whatever he wants (like gaming till morning and sleeping till noon lmao), never criticised Yuzu's skating, and Yuzu's insistence on perfection came long before he described this incident - there was a time when he was a kid where he'd train till midnight and refuse to get off the rink because he hasn't mastered a jump, and he just wanted keep winning like Plushenko I suppose - but showing gratefulness to others is something they cannot compromise on. It's a common value, not often preached but highly regarded. Also regarding the pressure, he has learned long ago to turn them into strength, like he main motivation for Olympics, breaking world records and such are clearly his personal desire, and has little to do with expectations. Sure they do weigh on him, but it's just his childhood dream to get 2 gold medals, he had told Brian that before Sochi 2014, and there are videos on his mindset for the 2015 GPF record. Perhaps it's cultural difference, when I read it it didn't come across that way, I thought it's pretty normal. Although I agree that mama Yumi is a strong person, she made sure to make meals that Yuzu could digest well (I heard he can't eat a lot of stuff lol), did a lot of things to support him, and being away from your husband for most of 6-7 years now must be difficult. Sorry I'm not comfortable at that phrase being taken that way, feel like it's being twisted because it certainly wasn't like that

The lady at Sochi 2014 SP K&C with Yuzu is Kobayashi, idk the source but it's been known among the older fans for a while now, probably was shown in newspapers and stuff. The lady in your video is another person, we had a recent footage of Kobayashi with Yuzu/Brian/Ghislain and she still looked exactly the same as Sochi 2014, short hair and all.

She is Yoshiko Kobayashi, was a JSF representative but she's now the director I think. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2017/02/28/figure-skating/miyahara-set-return-ice-preparation-world-championships/#.W_EgYKep1QI . She hanged around with Yuzu and Brian and Ghislain to analyse the scores after the SP too Mama Hanyu is that photo as you've seen, she's called Yumi (由美). A quick search on Youtube would give you this documentary too, this is the only show she ever showed up in iirc. She does travel with him to competitions and attends them, fans reported that he babbled nonstop on the plane for hours to his mum who probably just nodded lol. He also said that whenever he thought of giving up, it's his mum who said stern words to him to push him out of negative thoughts. The Hanyu family is very private and does not want to show themselves publicly, mama Hanyu actually hid herself whenever journalists crowd around Yuzu at the airport lol. They just thought that whatever Yuzu did was the result of his own hard work, and didn't want to take the limelight whatsoever. But they certainly brought him up well, being so disciplined, grateful and having a healthy mindset towards rivalry/sports/pressure etc., that's my opinion. You can read more about his family here https://yuzusorbet.tumblr.com/post/110078456747/the-family-that-nurtured-yuzuru-the-genius From Aoi Hono (I or II idk) Yuzu mentioned that once he thought he was pretty good for being able to podium while skating with a sprained ankle, but his mum said something like "don't you dare to think it's all your credit, if not for all the medics and coaches helping you, you wouldn't be able to do what you did today." Yuzu realised how he took other's help for granted, and has been grateful to everyone ever since. You can buy Aoi Hono from Amazon and request translations from nonchan or tadaki. How to order Aoi Hono from AmazonJP https://the-absolute-king.tumblr.com/post/172891046794/yuzurus-books-preview-translations-how-to Translation request for Aoi Hono http://yuzuru-hanyu-translations.weebly.com/aoi-honoo.html Translation request for Aoi Hono II http://tsukihoshi14.tumblr.com/post/171947689783/aoi-hono-ii-english-translations Also if anyone's curious, this is Papa Hanyu, he's called Hidetoshi 秀利. He was accepting a donation from Sendai? that crowdfunded to support Yuzu skating. He's a math teacher / primary school principal, and is a pretty strict one I heard haha. This is pretty much the only existing image of him online lol, from GS. So don't believe any other speculative photos of him. Many claimed that the photo of Yuzu with Sochiro Tsuzuki, his novice coach, was his father lol. https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?64264-Yuzuru-Hanyu-2013-14-Season&p=941981&viewfull=1#post941981 His sister is called Saya, born 1990, and works at the Ice Rink Sendai now I think. People speculated that one of the girls who appeared in Pandalion's support music video for Yuzu is her, but lol. All 4 of them have different blood types, so either of his parents must be AB and O, and since Yuzu is B, his sister will be A.

He never sings out loud unless he's at home haha, he says his singing isn't good lol. But at home he sings so much that his family told him to shut up ;'D

The full version is on spotify, you need to create an account to listen to it. This is just a sample.

Why would Dai reject an ice show with Yuzu? I thought those are just his fan’s actions? Also, I agree that the Ice Show arrangements are more of a marketing strategy than pride. It's an illusion that skaters have 100% liberty to go to any ice show he wants without some commercial pressure here and there, especially from their sponsors. I mean Yuzu is constrained to only do advertisements for ANA, Lotte, P&G, Phiten and a select few brands, due to the interest of the sponsors to maintain exclusivity - that's why you don't see Yuzu on sport brands, which is an oddity for an athlete. More advertisements means more revenue for Yuzu, but less revenue for his sponsors because now people can get Yuzu products from other places, not necessarily theirs. I doubt people will buy 20 chewing gums for the Xylitol files if other companies have them too.

poor Javi. Malaga is on this Saturday.

That is true! Unfortunately that logic evaded some people (including me rip). So I tried to visualise it in terms of forces and momentum haha. Physics do not lie :p
-
here's my attempt lol. From making this I can see why heavily prerotated jumps are often unstable, and why timing of takeoff is so important in edge jumps. Also makes prerotated jumps much smaller as forward velocity is lost to create the "rotation" on ice, basically less air time. In this illustration, you can see it's still possible to travel forward with 180 PR on non axel takeoffs, but not possible to travel forward with 180 PR on axel takeoffs. Matches with what Chib said I guess. Hope I took all the forces into account. Glad I could apply what I learned in school though lol.
-
Btw I need to ask this: Call me dumb but I still don't understand why axel can't be pre-rotated. I'm trying to understand this lol halp.

Someday I'd like to have a list of stupid things they said, so we can have proof for unsuspecting people who don't know what they're getting themselves into, like poor Liam Cross.

I found the Haru yo Koi (Full piano EX ver) by the artist on Spotify! Thank you Shinya Kiyozuka for creating such a masterpiece! He's the pianist who played Haru yo Koi for Yuzu during FaOI He congratulated Yuzu for his GP Helsinki win too! Yuzu-chan awww
-
This is oddly specific, but does anyone have examples of people praising Yuzu's 4S? Other than Ghislain
-
Thank you!

His name in Russian is Юдзуру Ханю. Really curious how cyrillic alphabet works sometimes.
-
He said he incorporated the concept of "wa" in his program, for both SEIMEI and Hope & Legacy, that's why it feels different from others. Theres a very long topic / discussion about this on Youtube I think, in vids of the creation of SEIMEI / Hopulega, also he mentioned it a bit after the olympics with Shuzo Matsuoka.

try skatingscores.com, their database should help a lot. Here's the ACI scores by judges for SP and FS

Does anyone have a better version of this video? Where Yuzu went completely crazy singing during warmup in 2015 And I am very sure there's an Eng sub of this video somewhere on Youtube, but I couldn't find it for now. Will be grateful if someone can point it out, I'm writing a post about Yuzu's music
-
Well it's one thing to land it in practice as a solo jump, and another to have it good enough to land in competition with choreography and stuff. I mean Yuzu's been doing fully rotated 4S+3A, 4T+3A+3A and 4Lo+3A in galas since 2012-15 but he probably doesn't have the stamina to pull it off during competition.
-
The new default picture makes me want to remove mine haha, it's so pretty!
-
Thank you. Took me a lot of squinting to figure out how much underrotated he was, and my fingers aren't that fast rip.

My bad. Guess 72 hours of nonstop Yuzu content got me.
