I think the US forgets that its previous men are far stronger than any of its current ones, at least the way they hype the current ones. Did they forget about Boitano when they talk about artistry (and great jumps!)? And did they forget Goebel and Savoie? But hype is hype I guess.

Oh lord, OK, Medvedeva's is better. Maybe this can finally settle the "debate" of whether or not Boyang has good skating skills. What he did in Spiderman was a pretty good show of his control.

Oh, I didn't find it here: Though really... Why would you do a hydroblade in a tango? It's a "cool" move, which works in programs like Spiderman (and with the bonus of being a signature pose for Spiderman himself), but it's not sensual or anything.

I actually had more of this in mind: That's just not a hydroblade. Your example shows why exactly she isn't doing a real one as a transition, because she doesn't have the requisite control, or the edging. Boyang's had control, and he was able to get close to the ice while maintaining a good edge (though it's really quite briefly held), while Yuzuru's is great, of course, especially because of how long he can hold it for.

2018/19 Coaching changes

He can fare well with a hybrid team. I'm sure he and the fed will make the best decision for him. The new/expanded team will give him the push he needs. -

I'm assuming it's a collaboration, actually. More of a hybrid team, than just moving to TCC with Orser as a permanent coach. But Orser will certainly be a part of the team, it seems. Or watching GoT -

Daleman and the other Canadian kids are actually why I thought that SC would give the Chinese Fed whatever they wanted. They weren't going to step on those toes given where 2022 is. It's probably why they took in so many Dance teams, too. The Dance team influx was a clue. Chinese and Korean feds are rising, and want to rise further. China has a good Pairs base, and Korea is getting there in Ladies. They want a foothold in Men next, and the USFSA has the most threatening base there currently, deserved or not. -

It's good tinfoiling. Won't be shocked if it's true, given what we all think of the new rules and who's behind them for whom. -

Wow, I've made quite the impression here in a short while. -
Whatever the opposite of this is: I'll find one later lol

FRICKING CALLED IT. YOU GO BOYANG!! -
Is that a COE hydroblade? Maybe I'm not seeing it properly, but it looks to me the COE comes in because he's exiting the element and standing up. It is excellent control, though, seeing how he holds his edge for so long through the exit, right till he finally stops.

It may be used in the ChSq. The SP has to have a 2A or a 3A. The 4A can be the solo jump, or done in combination. Unless someone can do steps into a solo 4A, it will probably left for the FS (or not done at all, because of the proposed new reward for it). His was alright, not the fastest. A real example of bad hydroblades would be Medvedeva -- to the point I can't even call it a hydroblade.

Not what I meant. He does indeed put in a Biellmann to get a level four. Whether or not he can get a level four without it is not the point. When he does a Biellmann in a spin, he's doing it for the level. If he were being dinged for it not being a good position for him (either through poor GOE, or not being bumped up a level), who knows if he would still be doing it? Or if he were, it would be made much better in that case. And who knows if he would still do Biellmann if levels weren't a thing?

It is possible to get level 4s without Biellmanns (and as pointed out, he's done it before).

Yuzuru's layback ina bauer is good. I think his Biellmann should be dropped, not because someone else has a better one, but because it's just not a good position for him. It's literally there to get a level. It's like Yuna Kim's I-Spin, which she used to sometimes hold for 8 revolutions just to get a level.

I don't think his Biellmann is great. This is a good Biellmann from a man: (So no, you don't have to go to the haircutter from the layback to achieve the Biellmann either. Yuzuru doesn't do it, either.) From a guy in pairs.

Proposed changes for next season
hoodie axel replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I think I'm more OK with the SoV knowing that 10% flat would have lead to -ve quality elements. -
He could do it. But I don't think his Biellmann is too good either. The level 4 requirements cause men to make some unfortunate choices.

He already uses a Biellmann to get a level 4 in his CCoSp4. Maybe he can. I prefer his crossfoot upright (?) though.

Low BV in the older values. Layback wasn't allowed for men in the SP, I think, and in the free, most just do Flying Camels, Flying Sits, CCoSp, FCCoSp etc.

Proposed changes for next season
hoodie axel replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
If flow out isn't accounted for in "good landing", then the USFSA officially can't be more obviously behind this. Flow-out is the opposite of what Chen and Zhou have. -

Lovely! So Zhou, Uno, Chen power trio. -
This isn't recent is it? I feel like I read this right after worlds.
