  1. For the 3A stuff I'm really not worried about any of the top guys, except Nathan (and Vincent if he's a top guy now). TBH, I like it, because the 3A is still a good test of technical capability in men, IMO.
  2. I'm less confident now that this is their doing. As I said, Nathan has six quads now if and only if his edge jumps get better. He lands his 4S except it's almost never clean, but his 4Lo has been missing for a while. 4Lz 4Lz+3T 4Lo 4S 4T 4F 3A Or maybe they think Nathan legitimately has 6 quads. Wouldn't put it past them.
  3. Did bonus for all six types pass? Because then it won't go.
  4. For context before anyone wants to @ me and say he has five quads with one repeat, his 4Lo and 4S are weak, and he'd need to make them better or rely on the 3A. Not sure which he'll do.
  5. So two 3As are needed now. This affects Chen the most negatively, and actually doesn't affect any of the other top guys at all.
  6. Some arms are very balletic and very sexy, according to a niche group. These shall be rewarded across the board in PCS, because the congress would not like to evaluate PCS according to their individual criteria. It's the "Japan's strategy" meme! It might not ever catch on outside of PH (or even outside of me), but I do wonder what's holding them back from proposing that.
  7. I doubt anyone can do anything. If it were so simple, the fans would have a lot more power. I did do my small part by spreading awareness through my siggy, though.
  8. They just voted against putting "Evaluate each Program Component according to its individual criteria" in the rules. The US rep spoke out against it.
  9. Cool, so sexy ballet arms = SS, TR, PE, CO, and IN
  10. I'm living for all this snark today, both here and that other place.
  11. Here's a sample of the PCS/GOE split from a competition it was tested at. http://www.isuresults.com/results/nt2014/CSGER2014_Men_FS_Scores.pdf While TES and PCS are unrelated, reputation and other factors are still likely at play. I'd like the proposal to come in again (and I wish it had passed -- it was clearly politicked against, and it's kind of proof of corruption to me), but it really might not have done too much good. The judges are still not trained in this regard too well and are still biased. An undeserved 90 might have become a deserved 80, but deserved 75 might have become 62 undeservedly as well. The judging itself first needs to change. Maybe pick the judges through a standard of review first.
  12. It's actually in the ladies that I think we'll see combos being backloaded. I won't even take the obvious example of Zagitova. I'll instead point out Higuchi -- she backloaded a 3Lz-3T in both her programs. That might happen more and more. Sure, the BVs an GOEs might affect it more, but I can't see most guys having the energy to do their big quad combos in the back-half right now.
  13. I'm in two minds about the PCS GOE split. On one hand, quads = PCS and that's bad, of course. On the other, that won't actually change for the top competitors. It's about feds and rep, too. If you note someone like Kazuki Tomono, he got fairly well-deserved PCS in worlds. Nathan Chen getting 92 wasn't just about quads. If it was someone from Argentina doing it, he would have been hammered pretty fairly about it.
  14. I think they won't. They already don't for the most part. I'm fine with this proposal. It's the ladies I am worried about with that, though.
  15. This factoring is useless now that the split is rejected.
  16. Russia. She's the prime suspect of the Sochi "scandal". The one who hugged Sotnikova after she won.
  17. Once Shekhovtsova spoke up, I knew it was a gone case. Corrupt buggers.
