  1. Ehh, I think training can help anyone. Even the most narcissistic public figures can have perfectly acceptable social media presences (ok, not all of them, just the ones who try). And Vincent is only a teen, he probably does think the world revolves around him. He just shouldn't post it on social media
  2. I think Vincent needs some public relations/social media training.
  3. What happens when you bring your leg in? And eeek do you need new boots then? How about thick socks?
  4. Yeah, it was in a rink in Shanghai for 2015 worlds. it wasn't the main rink but a practice rink.
  5. The tapping foot is the right foot. It's painful to tap on an injured ankle, you have to keep it really flexed and not let it collapse under you. ESPECIALLY when you need to tap hard enough for a quad. The takeoff foot doesn't have that much force on it tbh. Yuzu had issues with his left foot, which is his tapping for the 4T, because of doing too many 4Ts.
  6. ow. Yeah I remember that. I don't want to blame the coach for everything but it's hard not to lay some blame here. Good luck to Daria
  7. Wow, I'd be really curious how that'd turn out. On one hand, Tsareva has...how many skaters? Only Anna P? That's better than 5 senior skaters who are all probably more established than Dasha. On the other hand, Anna must be one of the biggest examples of wasted talent of the last decade. Now it remains to be seen if Anna's mental issues are her own or also the result of her coaching...since there's only one sample point, it's really hard to say But I'd put my money on the latter. I heard somewhere that they used to stop Anna's runthroughs whenever she made a mistake, which is why she had a tendency to really fall apart after a mistake. But that was just a rumor, I think...
  8. Don't you know, he landed it and javi
  9. I agree with you about Boyang. This song reminds me of the Cantina Band (from Star Wars). It seems decently convincing at this point, but he's only doing triples. Definitely interested to see it in competition!
  10. Yeah, I was like if the spin is centered, it's not that bad...(I agree I get dizzier turning on land.) I know some people have tricks like stare at one point on the wall or something. But I'm pretty used to spinning now that I don't get dizzy unless I spin for like an hour (then I get slightly dizzy) or the spin is really shitty and not centered haha. 1.8 m distance sounds like a lot! And isn't it more about height than distance anyway? Distance is more of a function of how fast you're going...height gives you time to rotate? Anyway I was curious so I pretty roughly measured my waltz jump and I think mine is about 1 m. Today I worked on toe loops with my coach and we started from the basics again to redo the entry and the jump which I need to commit to muscle memory. I feel like I've started from the basics (for the toe loop) so many times lol and toe loops are just super difficult!!! My problem is pre-rotating a lot -- not on my toe pick, which is fine for a toe loop, although obviously less is better -- but on my *other* foot while it's still on the ice. But hopefully one day it will be worth it because single toe loops are very pretty!~ (Yuzu's left foot leaves the ice while still pointing fowards. Mine rotates 90 degrees before leaving the ice.)
  11. today i took a beginner ballet class and the teacher taught us how to spot when we do turns and she was like "figure skaters don't spot...i don't know how they do it" and i was like good question (tbh spotting makes me dizzier...probably just need to get used to it though)
  12. Looking at the different types of Royals, now they seem to have different types now. https://www.shop.kinziescloset.com/Risport-Royal-Pro-Womens-Figure-Skating-Boots-RisportRoyalPro.htm This one is only rated for singles and has a stiffness of 65. http://www.risport.com/ice-collection/royalexclusive http://www.risport.com/ice-collection/royalelite These have a stiffness of 90, which I'm guessing is stiff enough for triples. (just fyi don't buy the wrong one!!)
  13. I used to have RF3s (or were they RF1s? I don't remember...I think they might be RF3s...) before I lost them And they had a long break in period. I lost them near the end of the break in period too so they were still really new. The break in period was hella painful too. I'd say that they're quite decently stiff and will take you up to an axel in jumps...however, as an adult I agree that we can totally just splurge on higher boots because we weigh more and we're no longer growing...(*loves my royales*( Royales had no break in period for me because there was supposedly some new technology. Some special padding/foam inside the boot that molded easily to your feet while still providing enough structure or something. I don't know if the new RF3s have it (or what it even is...) but I really appreciated that after having just nearly broken in my RF3s before losing them I don't think I'm going to wear out my Royales in a longgg time...maybe like 5 years lol. They're not new but every bit as stiff as they were! Buttttttt I'm already thinking about what boots I'll get next when I do! Harlicks? hehehehe
  14. Really? Karen's jumps don't look smaller than Kaetlyn's to me. But maybe it's because she's so small.
  15. a real angel descended from heaven
  16. I guess their hearts were just in different places. Maybe Gamelin only wanted to go to the Olympics, and now he did. It's quite unlikely they would have medaled in Beijing anyway. I hope Yura finds a partner that wants to train as hard as she does. I hope they go far! I don't judge either of them, as long as the money is returned and/or used appropriately. Figure skating being SUCH an expensive sport, I imagine disagreements like this about money, especially when families are paying out of their retirement funds, would be enough to break any team.
