    This is a great interview and Misha sounds very grounded and intelligent. He received soooo much criticism after his skate (i.e. people saying he let his country down, which must be emotionally devastating, how do you even get over that?) that no skater deserves. It's not like they go out to fail on purpose. I found this quote interesting: Time and time again we see this -- sometimes first time Olympians rise to the occasion but more often than not they feel the pressure. Experience cannot be overstated at the Olympics!

    Oh I do the same actually I often make these mental "connections" between skaters at my rink and skaters they look like and/or skate likethere's a little blonde girl at my rink who reminds me of Tara Lipinski...another lady who reminds me of Miki Ando, another one who reminds me of Katarina Witt, a girl who reminds me of Wakaba, and...I think that's it for now

    It's just so beautiful! He is bringing another level of skating that is hard to believe is even possible. A true blend of art and athleticism. Every time he wins the Olympics, he makes quantum leaps artistically and athletically in a short period of time (I feel this happened in the 2014-2015 season too). Even when you think it's just not possible to improve anymore. I just have no words.

    There isn't really anyone for him to lose to at ACI. Jason Brown? ... Maybe with the GPs being all shuffled up (Helsinki GP ) the curse(s) have been broken.

    I bugged @gladi to death so she was a sweetie who found it and translated it for me in the end: So actually it is primarily "Art on Ice" and then a little bit of "Magic Stradivarius". I listened to AoI again and well, it will be different, now won't it. There are some bits I quite like from the original that will go poof now, and some bits I dislike, that will also go poof so I am really curious, even more than before, what the final product is like.

    Probably personal preference and maybe superstition? The way blades are sharpened is as important to a skater as their boots...so they probably don't trust a new person to do it the same way (I've also heard other skaters say that they would never change the person who sharpens their boots.)
