I listened to AoI again and well, it will be different, now won't it. Probably personal preference and maybe superstition? The way blades are sharpened is as important to a skater as their boots...so they probably don't trust a new person to do it the same way (I've also heard other skaters say that they would never change the person who sharpens their boots.)

I agree, I don't think that's taboo at all. But the Yuna-Mao rivalry is something else altogether and I think that's more of a fandom thing than a political thing, if that makes sense. I heard somewhere that Wakaba still gets some criticism from Mao fans for saying that Yuna was her idol growing up, too. But I think it's more of a clash of fandoms type of thing where the political subtext is just a convenient excuse.

I heard it's because of the Yuna vs. Mao rivalry and the cultural rivalry between Japan and Korea. It's taboo for Yuzu to say that he likes Yuna now even though recently David Wilson revealed this in an interview.

i watched a few programs from alena kostornaia bc everyone always says such good things about her i think she is definitely special but i find her a bit stiff? her musicality and SS are definitely her strengths compared to her peers, but her jumps are not the most beautiful, IMO. As for Yuzu, does he mean that he watches the junior men? He definitely did that leading up to Pyeongchang because he knew the upcoming juniors were going to be his main competitors, and they were. I'd wager he doesn't watch the junior ladies, though.

Yeah I'm sure he would be fine swimming, especially with his athleticism... but people with low body fat just have a more difficult time starting out, especially if they're already grown up and don't know how to swim at all! Didn't he say that he was allergic to chlorine which is why he doesn't swim anyway? I like swimming but I don't find it similar to gliding on ice at all xD it feels like there's a lot more resistance LOL
