    Music talk

This might be a bit early, but maybe it can help us handle our nerves. Since Yuzu pretty much said he might continue after PC, and it seems the new 4 minute rule for men's LP is coming into effect next, does anyone feel up to doing music suggestions again? This time, we have to keep in mind that the music cut needs to be 4 mins.
  2. HYPE!!! Theme change on the same day as the ankle reveal?
  3. unfortunately I do not, so only a panda plush with a spiderman shirt.
  4. Thing is, most skaters do not strike me as the type to listen to classical misic casually, Yuzu included, which is a shame when you consider how much it is used in skating. This in turn contributes to the warhorses problem and less than stellar interpretations we see.
  5. Plushenko went on TSL for a short interview, and pretty much steamrolled over TSL in grand style, but his picks are definite Yuzu, maybe shooms and nate to round it off. God bless P&G, the giver of extra eye-candy. Never before have so many a fair maidens, and lads, swoon over ankles before.
  6. Maybe he cannot find a suit that fits him because he has yet to design his own suit. o_O Right now he has no time for the effort required.
  7. Of course the measurements of his imperial majesty are a national secret. Even the measurements of the ladies of the court were a secret, and we could only measure the rough proximation using video frame analysis when they appeared in public, and even that is incomplete, as Lady 4Loop has not been sighted in public for a while. Did he reduce the rhinestone count? Otherwise how did he reduce the weight of the costume?
  8. Yes please PChan. You came back because you loved skating, one little hiccup isn't really the end of the world. Regardless of where you end up on the podium, people will remember you for the grace that you showed on ice, and the effortless edges that are a hallmark. There are plenty of us who look up to you, and plenty of little skaters and may-be-skaters who will be inspired by you, regardless of what your world placements are. And that's what a truly influential skater does, and not something that all Olympic gold medalists can claim.
  9. Well, that's why in the end, I tossed a couple music around in my brain, and the ones that made me go "this would work for him, maybe" included Tango de Roxanne, and surprisingly, a number of broadway musicals. I think those are dramatic enough, and the intensity would match him perhaps better than classical music warhorses. I was thinking now, also that POTO might work for him, while Chicago I might prefer to give to Javi. That Nessun Dorma moment would be nice for a spiral sequence or an ina bauer. Which no one this season is really doing. T_T
  10. Mika's jump face is still nothing compared to Plushy's. Still, question-skating jump faces or diver's jump faces, which is scarier?
  11. I felt so uncomfortable clicking through the ladies...it felt like someone was going to come back and bite me in the butt. Not to mention I want to see quite a number of them in the gpf.
  12. Well this is an improvement...wait, why are there earphones..?
  13. It's good to see in a way, figure skating gets so little money otherwise. On the other hand, I do wonder how he's coping with all this attention.
  14. Not sure where else to put this, because team Japan is more skater focused and less program focused. I was thinking the other day the confusing aspect about Shoma is how much I like him for what he brings, yet unlike the other skaters, I can't pin a music style on him. Normally, once I like a skater, I will start correlating certain music pieces with them-like Taiko drumming and Boyang is now, and Chopin and Yuzu etc.One day I wish Shoma would explore music on his own, it seems that he just lets his team decide on stuff and he just does his job, right? So figuring out what music suits him is getting hard for me. I don't think Turandot is his thing, no matter how intense he is, and most warhorses don't really work for him. Then I thought about Loco, and wondered, would Shoma have done better going Tango de Roxanne route? Btw, I've figured out my beef with Turandot 2.0 so far: the drama of the choreography is music driven, his movement on ice does not seem to be contributing much of anything, no highs and no lows, even the cantilever is not held out long enough to be considered a highlight. It's not an issue of musicality even, it's just a flat program choreographically.
  15. I have rinkmates going to CoC this weekend....asking them to toss stuff to Boyang in my stead.
  16. hmmm...he is preparing for the shortened long next seadon, eh? Now with the jumps timed out like this, wonder if he is the only guy capable of doing all those jumping passes in a shortened time.
  17. My own skating experience- I hate the loop jump with a passion. I got my flip to stabilize before I got my loop to be any good growing up, partially because I found keeping my hip closed while on a right back outside edge to be super hard. Why? It's your jump landing edge, so my body always wanted to turn out, so it's counter-intuitive in my opinion. The take off is off a 3 turn curve, and has nothing to help it for height or distance. You can't go into it with no speed obviously, but you can't go into it with that much speed, unlike the lutz, flip and even toe-loop, and even unlike the axel, you don't have skidding to help you with the take off. Either you go up, or you fall out of it. And for height and distance, it's just a small bit of speed, a lot of muscle power and timing being key. Trickiest jump IMO.
  18. The thing is -it's so diplomatic and objective, you have to bow to her. Nothing she said is wrong actually, and it's actually what people should learn to watch for-figure skating isn't about arms work, it's about blade-work. And Shoma frankly, isn't the only one guilty of what she's saying.
  19. Eh, no? More "Survivor's guide to the Zombie-Yuzu-pocalypse"-not sure how the quad harem enters into this, unless you mean to imply Zombie Yuzu would know how to do quads? But doesn't Zombie Yuzu feed off of quads...which means we're all relatively safe since I don't think any satellite knows how to do quads. The other men though, might be in danger.
  20. Nah, that's definitely Zombie Yuzu. Which begs the question, if the zombie-apocalypse churned out a lot of zombie yuzus, how many of us would survive till the end? Especially if the Zombie Yuzus learned how to smile?
  21. When do we use this emoji though? When Yuzu doesn't get his daily feeding of quads?
  22. I'm keeping my podium stuff silent for now, though I've told someone before. Anyways, I want to see how Javi does this season, because so far that uncle shows no signs of backing down yet.
  23. Hmm, actually more akin to worlds this year for Yuzu, because he will probably go to Nationals, which he missed last year due to flu. So given the rest cycle, this year's Oly is more akin to last year world's in the timeline of competitions for him (unless he goes to 4CC which I doubt since Team Japan probably has Olympic team building events). And it's highly possible for Boyang to sneak onto the podium at Olys (he's mentioned that he wants to get a medal for Chinese men's), people tend to forget he's not adding quads in order to skate clean, a very cautious skater, and he tends to skate fairly clean at the big events where it matters. He seems to enjoy skating for the sake of skating (similar to Yuzu), and is less focused on the competition with others and more on what he himself can do.
  24. Seems he's more into his choreography, and I'm again, so happy and thankful he tried this music. He's closer to find his style, and the section with the drumbeats suit him well.
  25. Let's see, so many possibilities: 1) Broadway Musical "My Fair Ladies" starring Sochi kin-medalist Hanyu Yuzuru, coming to a Japanese theatre near you. 2) Yuzu the dance director trying to direct a team (and failing) 3) Fan dance- Yuzu style, and all the ladies who said you can't imagine him doing tango, you sure about that now? Though usually the fan is more likely held by the lady, hmm. 4) Tap and jazz dance Yuzu style
