  1. Good, so the anomaly is trying to pass off as human. Well that's progress, I'm ready to cry tears of joy that the anomaly recognizes this thing called health and "jetlag."
  2. Amazing! May all the fan emas around his protect him against the werewolves this season, and all eternity.
  3. I did tag you in a post but then deleted that section since part of it was probably impossible for the table to show. What the table shows now works for me. So far, I think reputation scoring is more of a concern. What I was trying to get at with the analogy, probably not clear since 1am with a cold is not good, is that if judges have a technical criteria, it should be applied consistently, which is so far not the case. For example, a five quad program with 30 crossovers and 40seconds of 1 ft.skating is a 9 in SS, if a skater falls below that standard then reduce scores. This is being done on some, not on others. If such an objective criteria existed and were applied across the board for what they did in the components section, then I personally can see how TES could be factored into some PCS scores and be justified in doing so. The issue is that if we look at the table fireovertheice gave us, judges do in fact have some form of criteria similar to this, that is being applied selectively based on skater reputation, assuming what is there or not there, not tied necessarily to quad amount. And that is complicating the quads give higher pcs issue. If quads alone gave higher pcs Scores, then if Max Aaron or Boyang used the same transitition stats and crossover count as Yuzu, they should net very high scores in maybe TR and SS, say 9.5. That would be the result if pcs is inflated on quads count consistently. But let's not kid ourselves, we know that they would not, because they are Max Aaron and Boyang, so judges would not give those scores. This is where I wonder if reputation scoring might be the real elephant in the room, more than even the TES inflation. And then I need to see a bunch of 10s in SS for a clean Yuzu at least once this season to feel better....
  4. That "artistic program" was what drove me to question this issue actually. Because if an artistic program does not care about spin levels, jump BVs etc, should Yuzuru B, win out over Yuzuru A? I think a lot of us would actually find that odd. And does skating skills and even transitions scores, factor in technical content? What I meant was, given that everything else is the same, including the number of transitions, could a 5-quad layout of Yuzuru A, deserve ever, higher scores in any PCS categories, over a triples only program with the same number of transitions. Because hypothetically, the 5-quad program is harder theoretically, to achieve the same amount due to stamina and speed requirements. It has less breathing space to achieve the same impression as a triples-only program. So would it not, in theory, that a triples only program need to go slightly more than a quad-layout program, to be counted as impressive, simply because it has more "breathing space" for the skater to "show more?" Anyways, just going devil's advocate here. And I like Brown, Rippon and Misha, and I find them underscored because they are not being evaluated in the right "bandwidth" for me, at least.
  5. I'm kind of curious for people's ideas on this: Hypothetically, there are 2 Yuzuru's, both skate the same program clean with only one cavaet. Yuzuru A has a 5-quad layout, Yuzuru B has a triples only layout. As nothing else has changed, transitions etc are all the same. Do you think both Yuzuru A and Yuzuru B should get the same scores on PCs across the board, on everything? Why or why not? I'm asking this because it would be interesting to see which PCs scores could and maybe should factor in the difficulty of a program in its jump technical content, and which ones should not. Part of this is because harder jumps do require more stamina, so if a quad layout that is more tiring and harder manages to achieve the transitions and feeling of an all triples programs, then should it be rewarded a bit more in PCS? And if so, which ones would be appropriate?
  6. He even has the yelp pitch to match, judging by that one messed-up-gala-jump video. New nickname for memelord-Flipper. The selfies are probably just for family and friends. Kind of like the type you send to your mom when you arrive at a new city as a tourist, just to prove you're still alive so she won't freak out. Though I guess in this case, it's mostly to Nobu and Co? Or he just wants to record for posterity. For example: Uncle Yuzu (to nieces and nephews from Saya): And this was a photo of when I was in Barcelona. Niece: Right, hotel no. 8888888 Nephew: was this when you had that dolphin squeal? Uncle Yuzu (sternly):...we do not talk about that...
  7. According to him, his sleeping face is not good. So it's just a case of someone sneaking a shot when he's sleeping.
  8. It just couldn't identify an anomaly. The app has exposed the TRUTH.
  9. I just hope we don't have a CoC or SC repeat at NHK-so far the men's roster has about 3 guys who are fairly reliable for clean skates. The ladies appear to be pretty clean too. The one I'm most worried for is actually France...that roster looks a bit...shaky on the men's side.
  10. I pray for clean quads this time, may he prove it is possible for him to land 5 quads in a long program.
  11. Thinking of Yuzu's skin and his recent CMs, someone tell me why no skincare company has.sponsored him yet. Shiseido, Kose, I am dissappointed in you.
  12. It was fine, we managed to locate and rescue the boy wonder out, though I think isu might be more fitting for that werewolf role.
  13. justice for his 3Flip....T_T
  14. I have stopped being intellectual about it, and just pray and go with my gut feelings on things. So far my gut feelings on him have been positive, though there was that one dream of escorting him through a den of werewolves.
  15. his current set, if clean, can break it...
  16. I think he might do it, especially if he changes his mind to go for the full quad arsenal, and if new, good competitors show up. As it is, he has enough technical content to stay relevant till 2022. It is also more the norm now for guys to stay past age 25, and the real issue with the current uncles is more that their technical content is not keeping up- an issue Yuzu does not have. My concern really is who can provide the challenge to him? The current crop of junior men does not look that promising, really. And will ISU finally give BVs for quints, improve it for 4-4 combos? Those are the real issues, along with his health to see if he stays on longer if no external competition exists for him.
  17. They could go to shanghai, between beijing and shanghai, there is no lack of venues they could switch to temporarily.
  18. question does anyone plan to expand this to include other skaters such as Cha Junhwa, Deniss V., Vincent Zhou? Since they are up and coming skaters, their stats might be interesting too.
  19. Glad to see the planet is back! Yuzu, red and hot chocolate, what a great way to wake up, let me crawl back to bed. I get the idea of ginger, it adds a bit of spiciness. But that is way too much sugar.
  20. glad that they gave us a clean runthrough footage for tcc open media day. Can you imagine the kittens birthed due to nerves if we saw messups? Wonder if we will run out of the kittens quota soon.
  21. Well, Kurt does go on and say that Alina can sell the first half well, and I personally have no beef with her long. I do have to say that David raises a pertinent point in that backloaded programs, especially where all jumps are there, is a harder program to choreograph and perform. Contrary to him, I would even consider brownies in IN and PE if it is a fully backloaded program and I do not even notice it. Because that would imply the skater did a marvelous job capturing my attention, and hopefully that does correspound to higher number of transitions and good skating skills, because otherwise I would feel an empty program. This was why I was never fully on board the idea of reducing the latter half bonus that some forums are tossing around. As for the discussion about quads training: I thought the current trend is that a lot of coaches think it's necessary for a skater to nail a variety of difficult jumps before they hit their growth spurt? And supposedly that makes it easier later on since it's already in muscle memory, and it's all just fine tuning afterwards. In which case, that's why they would go for it, but I imagine no one asks for a perfectly clean version of the said difficult jump now, just that the basics and technique are clean- and really only start refining it after the growth spurt is over.
  22. I actually have to stay home during NHK so I probably won't even have skating practice to work out my nerves!
  23. He's icing his feet? o_O well I've heard that the Edea pianos can be hard to adjust and are a tight fit. And his feet look really thin. Hmm, I have another avatar idea....
  24. @fireovertheice : hmm, have you shared any of these with Max or Angelo for their podcasts? They'll probably have a blast with your numbers. And given their visibility, maybe it might impact the ISU? Or maybe I'm too hopeful on the latter part, but I pray it is true. If I had to say, the way I'd rank Nate, Boyang, Shoma and Mikhail as roughly equal in all their PCs scores, all within a 8.5-8.75 band, with a small number of occasional dips into 9.0 depending on how they skate that day. But I would hardly ever considering giving them 9.25 or above. None of them quite merit that yet, though Mikhail frankly comes the closest. Even if I follow the judges and score on a relativity basis, there are guys who are in the 9.25+ range, and comparatively judged, those 4 quadsters are not there yet. Javi: generally I would give Javi scores in the 9.0-9.5 range. I'm not sure I could ever hand him a 10, simply because his programs are just...not my cup of tea, but I can see some giving him 10's in IN or PE, which if he skates squeaky clean can be justified. Patrick and Yuzu are the two I'd generally score above 9.25 across board, probably 9.75 and even 10 in skating skills (which I don't think anyone has given them yet, but I think they deserve 10's at some point). Yuzu, I can justify giving him 9.5-9.75 in TR usually (I'm still debating about a 10), simply because he probably has the most transitions packed programs among the men right now. Patrick isn't too shabby either, so roughly that same range. I would be appalled if Yuzu skates clean and he doesn't score above 9.75 in the latter 3 PCs areas, and usually his programs are so well choreographed to the music, I think even with falls he'd land in the 9.5 range (fall to the beat of the music). Patrick has milder music, but for what it is, it's a good 9.5 when he skates clean for me. Jason Brown I'd score similar to Nate, Boyang and Shoma, but I'd give him slightly higher scores in TR (around 9.0) and for his long, I think he's been doing a superb job interpreting, so I can justify giving him 9.0-9.25 in the latter 3 categories, as those 3 in my mind, do not and should not correlate to jump difficulty. There, that's how I'd stack up the men right now.
  25. Yeah, China hasn't had that many artistic male skaters, so PCS is suffering across the board. It took Chinese pairs a long time, and thanks to Zhao and Shen, Pang and Tong, finally climb out of the idea that Chinese skaters lack artistry. I'm hoping the men's take a shorter duration to jump out of that giant stereotype hole, especially since there is better training now and more emphasis on the art aspect, but it may seriously take till 2022 to go anywhere, while Boyang and Han Yan and any other new guys have their work cut out for them on choreography/artistry/PCS, probably need to go well above and beyond to get any candy.
